  1. Ken, Why was my comment strange (and why do you even need to say that)? I was commenting on the look of his sight, which I think is pretty darn good. I wasn't commenting on the content or on the number of posts. In the future, maybe I need to be more specific.
  2. It looks pretty darn good, and (so far at least) it's FAST.
  3. That's very interesting. I'll be interested to see how well it's received.
  4. I'm still pretty new here, so I don't know the history of this. Did you make that watch yourself... from scratch?? If so, I'm seriously impressed! I don't know what to say except that you did an amazing job.
  5. We felt it here in Santa Barbara, more of a rolling motion, but definitely and earthquake. What a tremendous amount of power to be able t feel it over such a wide area!
  6. I have that exact same watch (same color too) and just had it apart 2 days ago. The repairs are relatively easy, but it depends on your skill level and tools. You'd have to pull the watch apart and re-install the hands (and clean it up while it's apart). The chrono hand is a problem on these watches. I've usually seen a dab of glue applied to keep it from slipping. While it's apart you could have the hands re-lumed (if you care about that kind of thing).
  7. I hope it isn't as bad as it looks. It doesn't look like there's any blood inside of your eye, which is good (like I know what I'm talking about). I hope it heals quickly, take it easy.
  8. His website seems to load pretty fast for me. I do, however, wish he had prices.
  9. I'm sure it was a very difficult decision and that it was not taken lightly. It's unfortunate, but I understand why you decided to take them off of the trusted dealers list and admire you for standing up for what you believe is right (and in the best interests of the members).
  10. Nice writeup, thanks for taking the time! I'll probably be taking my A7750 apart in the next few weeks and this really helps.
  11. I heard about another case in Georgia a few years back, it really shocked me. A guy was ordered to support a child that was not actually his. Here's an excerpt along with a link to the rest of the story. The lesson is, if you're not sure your ex-girfriends kid is yours, have a DNA test right away: Although the Georgia courts haven't recognized what he considers a man's right not to support a child he didn't father, Decatur resident Carnell A. Smith hopes the U.S. Supreme Court will do so. For 10 years Smith believed his former girlfriend, Toni W. Odom, when she said that he was the man who fathered her daughter. From 1989 to 1998 he voluntarily paid $375 a month in support of the girl. However, in 2000 Smith acted on a hunch and got a DNA test. It showed he was not the child's father. He unsuccessfully sought a new trial from DeKalb Superior Court Judge Edward A. Wheeler, who had presided over a paternity suit Odom brought. The state Court of Appeals denied his petition for discretionary appeal. Then the state Supreme Court denied him certiorari. But Smith said he won't stop until he has done everything he can to resolve what he considers the rulings' injustice. http://www.kssfamilylaw.com/other/050602-f...tdespitedna.htm
  12. Are you specifically after a Bentley? The Chronomat Evolutions are pretty darn nice. The latest versions even have the correct date font.
  13. Thanks a lot Anton, I appreciate the effort!
  14. Anton, that's a fantastic photo (nice macro skills), thanks! Wow, that's really close to black. Do you think the text color is closer to PMS 433 (my previous image might not have shown PMS 433 accurately)? It's really hard to show the color, but PMS 433 = Cyan 34%, Magenta 0%, Yellow 0%, Black 94%, so it's really close to black.
  15. Thanks for the input. I guess the best thing to do would be to borrow a Gen, take it to a place that has a PMS color chart (or visa versa) and figure out the color that way. I know it's asking a lot, but if anyone owns a gen and has access to a Pantone chart, I'd REALLY appreciate it if you could check it out and let me know.
  16. I'm trying to determine exactly (or close to it) the color of the Gen BCE date font. I'm guessing that it's something like PMS 433. Does that look right or is it too light? The full Pantone color chart can be found here: http://www.peaceproducts.com/Pantone%20Color%20Chart.htm
  17. Nice pictures! Is that an engagement ring I see on her finger? If so, congratulations!!
  18. I don't get it either, they look pretty ugly to me... but then again, I thought Bell & Ross were ugly when I first saw them. Now I own an 03-92 and it's one of my favorite watches.
  19. Done, good luck!!
  20. I would definitely go for a properly functioning A7750 Rotor My plan was to only get an ETA7750 Rotor if I couldn't find an A7750. Could you please pm me with a price for your rotor?
  21. I tried to tighten it once already, but I just tried it again. I removed the rotor, checked it and re-installed it but I still have the problem. The screw is as tight as it's going to get. I read a post about putting high-temp grease in the bearings, which I also tried, but I just don't think that's going to solve the problem. It's as if the bearings in the rotor are too small, the rotor 'flops' around inside the watch, hitting the movement.
  22. Can anyone tell me if an ETA 7750 Rotor will fit correctly onto an A7750 Movement? The Rotor on my Navitimer (A7750) is so loose and sloppy that it hits the movement, it makes the watch sound terrible. I'd like to purchase a new rotor (available from Ofrei), but I was hoping I could make sure it will fit, before I order one.
  23. I thought I'd try (again) applying the artwork using a water-slide decal. I think I'm going to officially ditch this idea (see photo). I simply can't get it aligned correctly. I made a fixture and I printed alignment lines and circles, but the darn stuff just stretches and deforms when I try to overlay it on top of the date wheel. In addition, it shrinks as it dries (just a tiny bit, but enough). Maybe a more skilled person could make this work, but I can't seem to. I looked into having them silk-screened, but even with the finest mesh, they can't provide the resolution I want. I'm going to pursue the pad printing method a bit more before I give up, but I'm running out of options.
  24. Excellent, thank you, I'll see how close I can get to that color.
  25. Can you tell me what the correct font color should be? I had him make these samples with black ink (just to see how it would turn out), but if I ever figure out how to make these, I'd like to use the correct color. Thanks
