It took a long time, a lot of searching, and a bit of money, but I finally found the perfect tool to remove the strap from my Dewitt. Now I just need to find the right 21mm leather strap (with curved ends).
It's weird how happy this makes me.
Thanks for the advice. I ended up putting the rotor from an A7750 IWC into the Navitimer (it only looks funny when you open the watch). I lubed the bearings with some high-temperature grease and it's working perfectly (and quietly), what a difference!
Well... if these turn out the way I hope (I'll post pictures), I'd be willing to work with you guys (whoever) on making datewheels for other watches. I'm doing this for my BCE, just because I love that watch so much, but I'd consider making them for other watches. We'll know more next week (second batch of samples will be done).
It's funny, I have one screen with RWG and the other with my work. I think I need to spend a little more time on the work screen, but it's tough, this place is fun.
Not in this years Olympics!? what a shame....
There's always women's beach volleyball, it's fun to watch for a number of reasons! An added bonus (for me) is that the Californian's are doing well (men and women)... so far.
I agree with Sir-Lancelot. A Bell & Ross is probably one of the most difficult to lume watches I can think of. I've lumed all of my watches... except for my Bell & Ross, and believe me, i've tried (and screwed up). I would definitely recommend starting on an easier watch.
@dave_nyc: You're absolutely right, since the BCE-V3 is available with the correct datewheel, there might not be too much interest. I'm definitely not going to make a bunch of these if nobody (except me) wants them. On the other hand, if people want them, I'd be willing to put the effort into making more than what I want. I just need to know how many I should make (I need to buy datewheels).
I asked the printer to make another sample for me, which I should have by early next week (I'll post pictures).
Does it matter if the color of the font is Black (instead of dark grey)? It's a little more expensive to make it dark grey, but if that's important, I can do it (the sample, however, will be black).
Is there any interest in an updated BCE Datewheel (I'm not sure if Lello is still making them)?
I'm thinking of having some made, but I don't know if there's enough interest to make it worthwhile. I've figured out the artwork, the color and I have a shop ready to print them, but I probably won't make more than 4 (for me and some friends) unless other people want them. The price would probably be about the same as the Lello datewheels.
Please let me know
I was wondering the same thing.
I've re-lumed everything else, but now the pearl looks weak. It would sure be nice to put some LumiNova there to brighten things up a bit.
I love it when people try things like this! It's how problems are solved.
You did your research and put your money where your mouth is. I don't see any reason why this should ever fail.
How difficult would it be for an average person... like me, to have DLC coating applied?
I used some DeoxIT L260Cp (hxxp://store.caig.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1595/.f) to silence the rotor on my A7750 and it worked like a charm. I think the trick is to use a high-temperature grease. You don't want it to melt (and then drip) into the workings of the watch.
I bought my BCE from Ruby (check around and you'll find a link to her site).
The watch isn't perfect (it's a replica after all), but it's definitely my favorite. I had no problems with the sale. in fact, she takes a picture of your watch and emails it to you for review before it's shipped.
Good luck.
