  1. I sent you a PM. Unfortunately it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but I DID end up with enough datewheels to make me (and a few other people) happy. Alignment turned out to be difficult to achieve.
  2. Have a great time, and take a lot of pictures.
  3. I don't know about anyone else, but the links aren't working for me.
  4. I've wondered the same thing. My guess is that they use a silkscreen process and print the lume much as they would the marking (just a lot thicker)... just a guess.
  5. Having attempted (and failed) to re-lume my own B&R I can appreciate how absolutely amazing this is. I honestly don't understand how you can achieve such a smooth finish and such sharp lines. It's been said before, but I'll say it again... WOW!
  6. You mean it's not normal to be reading through watch forums instead of participating in 4th of July festivities? Darn, I better go get a beer.
  7. I never liked Omegas, but I bought a broken QOS from a fellow member. I replaced the broken movement with a DG4813 and now it's running perfectly. My original intent was to sell it, but it turns out that I really like it! I'm surprised at how much I like Omega now.
  8. At first I thought you were referring to the International Society of Supervillains. I imagined you in a cape with a big 'Z' on your chest (yea, I have a vivid imagination). As I age, gravity is becoming a bigger and bigger problem (along with my belly). I'd love to visit the ISS. If I ever do, I have just the watch to take with me .
  9. I see.. it's the spacing between the gears (darn cheap movements). Thanks for the quick reply!! It will save me from taking it all apart (for no reason). It's all so obvious when you describe it, I wish I had your knowledge. Thanks again.
  10. I'm having an issue with a Panerai 024 with a 21J movement. The second hand seems to 'Skip' or 'Stutter'. This only happens when the second hand passes between 12 and 6, otherwise it's fine. I've tried re-seating the second hand, but that didn't help at all. The watch is keeping perfect time, but I'd like to fix this. I know that The Zigmeister mentioned "It's just the way it is with any indirect drive center seconds movement", but since this isn't a center seconds movement, I thought it might be fixable. Can anyone help me to figure out how to fix this? The following are images of the movement (I thought it might help) along with a video showing the second hand stuttering. Thanks.
  11. I hope it continues working for you. That was pretty gutsy of you to open it and to try fixing it (good for you). There's a lot of good information (tutorials, etc) in this forum if you decide to take it apart again.
  12. I've owned motorcycles since before I could drive on the street. After spending several months in Norway (Kongsberg) and seeing how expensive and difficult it was to have a nice motorcycle, I just had to buy another one. I picked up the Bandit 1200 for $3500 USD (used) and the insurance is $243/year. It was a little scratched up, but that doesn't effect the performance (which is all I'll ever need).
  13. Just an update. I was able to source a movement from Ajoesmith (back when he had them in stock). I replaced the movement and it's been working well for several months. It still seems to have a bit of an issue when setting the time (I have to play with it to get it to start up), so I'm guessing that there's something inherently messed-up with this particular movement. Just a side note, the old movement (now that it's out of the watch) seems to be running just fine...weird.
  14. If you can live with 1.7mm x 22mm, I have extras. PM me with your address and I'll send you some (if your in CONUS).
  15. I've purchased 3 watches from WatchEden. I had an issue with one of the watches (the wrong version was shipped to me), but WatchEden worked everything out to my satisfaction.
  16. Did you ever check your PM? I offered to help you, but I can't if you don't respond to your messages. I think I may have had a little bit to do with helping epspi fix his watch (epspi, please correct me if I'm wrong).
  17. SlayNYC, if you decide to take IHEARTMKTG, up on his offer and don't want to do the swap yourself, I'll do it for you in exchange for the parts you don't need.

    253 Parts

I agree, you can probably sell it for parts. If you can take some pictures and specify what movement it is, someone (maybe even me) will buy it.
  19. This might help (at the very least, it's interesting): http://hiro.alliancehorlogere.com/en/Under...ti-Shock_System
  20. The following words keep (painfully) coming to mind (Alexander Tyler, I think): A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.
  21. I have a problem with the way a LOT of companies fund their pension plans. PBGC 'encourages' companies to properly fund their pension plans, but have (foolishly) allowed too much flexibility in interpreting pension funding rules (identified in the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 [ERISA]). The funding rules are flawed, that's why PBGC is over $450 Billion in the hole (and growing fast). I know who's going to pay for that and I'm not happy. Unfortunately many pension plans (as well as Social Security) are underfunded, which is why (I'll say it again) more needs to be done to make people save for their retirement. Let me clarify by saying that I don't mean giving the money to the government or to an employer (I've seen what they do with it). I mean putting MORE money into a personal retirement account. If people take money out of their retirement accounts now (as referred to in the original post) it's just making a upcoming problem worse (they'll have even less money for retirement), and I know who's going to pay for that and I'm not happy. I agree with Fakemaster... SELF-CONTROL! And I'd just like to add... PLAN FOR YOUR FUTURE.
