  1. Our white poodle is the best. She gives and receives loads of love. As we have no children she is our "baby" and the house is empty without her. She is 9.5 lbs and pure white. My vote for our house is a poodle.
  2. Happy Birthday Ken. May all your watches run on time. And as time flies may your watches catch it with precision and eloquence. And some fun
  3. Welcome to WAD....watch addiction disorder: Symptoms A. An obsessive desire to fill that empty cushion in the watch box and on the winder. B. Watcharivemailomania....the desire to track an EMS number and attack the mailman, and then to suffer through the privilege of cutting oneself trying to remove the packaging tape. C. The new acquisition sharing.....Posting pics and getting approval and reinforcement from the forum. D. $$$$$ .....spend it. That's why we work so hard. And the fireworks with your wife. D. a) The feeling of getting a bargain. Look at all the money I saved. E. And lastly the true appreciation of owning a unique piece of art in all its glorious forms which can be accessed many times per day. The tick to-ck, tick to-ck with all its detailed little marvels. Yes, welcome to the wonderful and glorious world of WAD
  4. If money were no object and you could purchase any gen your fantasy desired, What would be your purchase? Mine is the Corum Golden Bridge. drool, drool, drool
  5. I have tried to find a watch school in my local area. None exists. All the local watchmakers have learned from a mentor, usually a close family member. Is there a school on the East Coast of the US ? I would like a to learn with hands on supervision. Time Zone pictorials lack something. How did you gain your watch knowledge? I feel very lacking. Especially compared to so many RWG members. Thanks for your feedback.
  6. Will be in South Florida and would love to meet fellow RWG members at a GTG. I will arrange an informal gathering. Please PM. bubu
  7. Hey Rob, Enjoy the enforced rest. It will pass soon enough. you might enjoy it and look back at this time of leisure with wistfullness as you are again overwhellmed with work.
  8. GIRLS ! GIRLS ! GIRLS ! the sexy avatars..... and of course the WATCHES. Seriously, the community and the support both watch related and unrelated. The international flavor and common interest and the stimulus to advance my computer, photographic, and horological skills. Thanks All, Marc
  9. Hey Rob, That is a hell of an excuse to delay work that was promised weeks ago. Heal quickly and comfortably.... Good luck, bubu
  10. My brother just gave me his Pam 0231 in RG with a Brown Croc strap. His wrist is a lot bigger than mine and I need to punch an additional hole. This watch is beautiful. I am afraid to punch a hole which is not shaped like the oblong originals. Where can I go for this specialized hole puncher? Not an AD. Thanks all you Pam lovers, bubu
  11. Just found a few chips at the perimeter of the dial on a PP Nautilus. What do you suggest to repair the silver metal now showing thru. Auto paint patch kit? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Also,on my wife' s Movado (gen) the black color (pvd?) on the bezel is badly worn. Watch is 25+ years. Thanks for your help!
  12. Is this a male dominated forum and addiction. Which sex is more detailed oriented?
  13. MIAMI Beach------Many members live in South Florida and there is plenty to do with places to go. Also, some of the best gen dealers around. Plenty of hotels and restaurants within all price ranges.
  14. I keep several of my good watches, reps and gens on watch winders. This means the movement is always totally wound if the watch has not been worn or allowed to unwind. Is this accelerating its wear? And should they be given time off the winder to rest the movement?
  15. Join the addicted and the addiction. Good luck,
  16. There is nothing wrong with providing a service and having the extra $. And filling the unused time. The key issue is communication and perceived value. Also market placement. These issues are important in all businesses. Make sure your client/customer/patient understands and receives the the value they perceive .Communication is the key. The business chooses its market placement and the customer chooses to accept this or not. If the client understands and values your service for the agreed upon fee both are in a win-win exchange. A business does not always sell the top of the line, but it should always communicate and service its customers. We are not always buying a gen. If I buy a rep and the dealer gives good service and communicates I will receive value and be happy. It is ironic that we are discussing the ideal on a rep forum. Problems arise on this forum and in business when customer expectations are greater than promised or delivered. As in life, communication and expectations on both sides are the key. Any service can be a win-win.
  17. What does the price of $88,888.00 USD mean? It certainly is not correct.
  18. Have a gen Philip Stein Telstar I bought for my wife. It is supposed to calm the nerves and regulate body rhythm. Is this a marketing tool or a genuine aid to health? She can't take it off for it to function and this precludes wearing any other watch. Clever! Fact or Fiction ?
  19. look at admins initial thread and click on link, good luck
  20. Welcome. Bet it feels sooo good to make a contribution so that an item of true value will continue. And you helped!
  21. The more exclusive the more desirable. Limit membership and then you will see a great clamoring to have access to RWG. Why do we pay and DESIRE those expensive replicas and gens? All top brands have an exclusivity about them. That said we do not need snob appeal, but we do need some sort of payment and reward system. If you can afford to own a computer and pay a monthly online access fee, it is only fair to share the load $$$$$$. Those who see the value will contribute. And there are always special exceptions which can be handled by admin on an individual basis. Bailout drives can be eliminated. Admin please look over these many good suggestions and make changes.
  22. WE all start out as noobies and then the addiction begins. Give away free membership for 90 days and then give the option of becoming a supporter. NO SUPPORT NO ACCESS TO RWG. This way everyone has an opportunity to "try us out" and decide what best suits their needs. And RWG does not limit its membership and has paying supporters. Have sent my donation.
  23. trustytime88.com, pc-80108.com, julesborel.com, esslinger.com, H & PERRIN co. lTD., ofrei.com, somalcanada.com and use the search button. Happy Journey
  24. Have checked dealers and they now do not stock a Pam, black dial, seconds at 9, date at 3, crown lever guard in RG. Any leads appreciated. TY
