The pushers are simply little buttons with no seals at all.

Open one up and you will see what I mean.

I am not so sure (not a vintage expert) but I thing on the gen the chrono pushers are asymetric ..... and on the rep is not.

I have not found any specific comments on the GMT function of it . (accurate ??? , it moves or jumps ??? etc....)

Presumably it moves since 7750.

Can owners of this watch comment on the GMT function pls.

The watch mentioned above , no way worths 400 USD.

As Offshore said, is pure profit that not reflects quality.

After several years of buying reps, one establishes some basic rules as a buyer.

- Never buy a watch immediately on its release. Wait a minimum of 6 months. Let the problems surface first.

- Read a lot (here in RWG) before you buy a watch. See and ask others on how good (or bad) the watch is bulid.

- The more complex the watch , the more chances you have that something goes wrong.

- Pick up your dealer carefully (hand pick, dropship, changes etc) .

Even with the rules above, you can only limit defective watches down to 20% (1 out of 5) but you can never guarantee that what you receive is perfect.

Is anybody going to buy these watches........

Its very simple.

The conclusion (that is either painted or treated with a very very thin layer of PVD) is based on the following facts.

- CHN rep producers are famous for using very cheap materials and keeping the production cost as low as posible.

- The color of the case. Is shinny black (paint ?) rather than matte black (more std on true PVD).

- To apply a true PVD is an expensive process (dont think CHN rep makers will do that).

In this forum we have some owners of B&R and PAMs with "shinny balck" PVD (suposely) treatment.

They can confirm how easily you can get these scratched.

Dont know if gen or fantasy ... but the black and red looks nice.

Of course and as you can clearly see, even though advertised as PVD is not PVD. Is either painted black or it has a very very thin PVD layer.

I would like to see that IWC Aquatimer very much ....... but I am afraid there is a long waiting ahead (for me at least).

Let's assume that comes out around Christmas time , ....... then another 6 months to settle down and correct all faults .... we are talking Spring to summer 2008 :-(
