Jimser, There was a FS thread on there for like a year for 063 with and extra dial, straps & crown and nobody jumped. Now if you offer a fully done one that's a whole other story, it's a sellers market then since the mod parts are hard to source.
-
if doesn't have the big daddy eta2893 it's not worth much more, especially stock... they've been popping up here and there and the prices i saw were between 200 and 280. i would personally not pay more than 200-250. that watch needs a new crown, relume, datwheel and cyclops.

PAM217... never realized just how nice the rep version is...
w0lf replied to projectologist's topic in The Panerai Area
R, Is that a EL 217 or DSN version? What's the best way to tell the difference? -
Rolli, Is that a new or old DSN 01A dial? Thanks
-
AMK, It's been over a year since they stopped selling that model. Josh just doesn't update his site, he still has PAM 01/04 with ultimate caseset and thick B caseback listed on there, for example.

To the best of my knowledge the proper base watch is not available anywhere. The only one currently for sale has the wrong notched bezel ('D' year going forward) and a shadow caseback of not so hot quality. On the old watch (if you're lucky to source one) this is what you'll want to do, presuming you're going with all rep parts: - Polish the bezel & pips - Flatten & polish cannon pinion cap on the hand stack - T48 SS crown w/ 1.2mm stem + drilled out crown tube if you're replacing w/ ETA7750 - T48 SS crown w/ 0.9mm stem + drilled out crown tube if you're doing Asia 7750 - Tritium-like patina re-lume (Flav/Kent Parks/The Zigmeister) - Remove bucket rings from round indexes on the dial - Switch xtal with 199 Ult. xtal (otherwise you'll want a Chief cyclops to replace the stock cyclops) - Remove AR if you're doing 199 Ult. xtal swap - Datewheel upgrade (you can do Lello, new Leo or take the one from 199 ult. it's not bad) - Refinish the CG pin, tighten lever adjust fitment to case if necessary.

DSN PAM 027a, Swiss 2892 + PR module sweetness!
w0lf replied to Mickey Padge's topic in The Panerai Area
Mickey, I see that you kept DSN's CG, can the crown be fully extended to change the time and also is the lever boot able to hit the bottom of the dish? If this has already been answered I apologize. -
Yeah, you are lucky, the case alone is worth as much I put it on hold the second I saw it but I just bought denise 01B, also in a JF case and I couldn't swing both so I asked Chad to release it. Good to see it's going to a good home.
-
fitch, if you picked up Chad's 009 yesterday you have the same thing err, minus the caseback, the 99 is a better caseback but it's less accurate because of 30ATM

wait a second... it's a marina dial. does anybody know a base dial with the word marina on it other than a 5218-202/A? I'm getting confused. -

12 is half life anyway so there'd still be a faint glow. what looks odd to me is the dial itself, the numerals are so thick it's got to be a "fatto a mano" dial but IF it's a gen preA 002 base the 6 and the 9 should be open and it should be T-SWISS-T. But if it's a contemporary 002 this is what it should look like: -

real tritium based paint does not need a light source to charge. hold it in the dark for 2-3 hours and see if it still glows. -
Right on, it seems like the factory that used to produce thick proper solid caseback PAMs hasn't put anything out in a couple of years. We really need quality OP6500, 6502, 6508, 6518, 6520, 6524 heavy and well-engraved casebacks. Along the lines of of the old OP6518~B1176, B1700, B1900 etc. would be killer.

With yours and raffo's help I think I have some idea about where I'm going with this project. I'm at home when it comes to Panerai but this is my first Rolex and I want her done right. Going to wear this thing on my off hand to bang it up a bit I contacted The Zigmeister about some work but it looks like he's booked until the end of October so I'm going to see if I can have some work done by my local watchsmith. Thanks again for all ideas and encouragement!

Thank you all for detailed answers and links to info. I now have the watch, the clark tropic 25116, a (hopefully) proper bracelet from watcheden on the way as well as flightmaster hands from ofrei I do have a couple of questions though... did you guys get an overlay for the DW with open 6's & 9's, and also what technique and paint did you use to extend the 24 hour indexes? I'm also a bit lost on the dial/hands relume and vintaging since I haven't yet found much info on that. Thanks!
-
Why is it fantastic news? That case is really neither here nor there, e.g. it's wrong for A year watch because of the lugs and the strap divot and it's wrong for a pre-V watch because of the divot.
-
I don't have the 28A but on my 27A it appears that DSN is using his new Pre-V cases with stubby short lugs.
-
Siesta, Would it be too much to ask to take a snapshot of any of the misaligned dates? Thanks!
-
Thank you so much for a detailed explanation!

Hi Guys, Wealth of information in this thread, all the research is much appreciated. Please pardon my ignorance as I'm just getting into Rolex (pam guy). Some noobish questions/requests: Does anyone have the link to Omega flight master hands, I've looked on ofrei to no avail. Also, do I just eyeball how much to file off the bottom of the plexi to make the mag per gen or are there measurements involved? Any advice on staging of the grit of film/sandpaper and final polish technique? And lastly, Toomuchgear, you mention a non-fliplock 78360 bracelet for this, are those rep bracelets sold separately? (preferably with some spare links?) Thansk a mil!

DSN PAM 027a, Swiss 2892 + PR module sweetness!
w0lf replied to Mickey Padge's topic in The Panerai Area
Thanks guys, wait till I replace my 5-year old Canon SD300 Mickey, when are you getting your watch back, I can't wait on the T60 crown update? P.S. Hope I don't jinx anything but I bought 2 of these from DSN and they're both running +/-10 sec. The one in the picture is +1.5 seconds a day and the other one is +9. -
