  1. Handsome, I'd just love for them to reissue the old style, pre engraved rehaut models.
  2. I had an issue with a bracelet once and the dealer never required me to send the existing broken one back. I'm surprised Pure Time requires that. Any way, that bracelet looks like the same Raffles Time on Ebay sells. Heck, that seller may be one in the same. As far as I know, all current Day-Date reps available have the straight SELs, so be sure to check which you have before ordering, also that one on Ebay has the older style clasp, which isn't a big issue. Oh, and be sure to ask for a bracelet with the crown logo and signed clasp. When I got mine, everything was good. I've been able to reassemble some links before by pressing the parts in a small bench top vice. A little bit of Loctite on the pins ought to help. However, I never did wind up using the links so I can't comment on how effective the repair was. When you get your bracelet, maybe a little bit of WD-40 on the screws, wait a bit, and then later attempt to unscrew and size the bracelet may be helpful.
  3. Good to know, I have one of the Raffles on the way.
  4. Heh he, yeah that's why I'm going to have it built for me. I won't attempt to start Dremeling something or filing something I care about. Maybe if I had spare practice parts but.. I'm just going to leave this one up to a pro. I will be sure to forward your comments about the Dremeling and filing to the watch smith. Thanks! I think I once read that the plastic spacer rings from cheap reps may work as well although they aren't going to add to the weight for the watch to make it more like gen. Also, I've read a situation where a movement enlargement ring may be needed. I couldn't find one of those anywhere. I'm sure that would've been mentioned more if that were something essential though.
  5. Yep, can't get a hold of Stilty so has anyone confirmed the Raffles Time ring would work on a 2836 based project like this one? I'm eyeing having one built with a 16013 case, or I could hold out and try to get a decent 16233 case.Thanks/
  6. @preacher62- Thanks very much for that info. If I go ahead with a build of my own, I'll be sure to find a watchmaker who will do that. Gorgeous piece, these threads always make me envious LOL.
  7. Wow! Thats a magnificent piece! I am super motivated to begin compiling parts to build a franken. However, I can't get a Stilty movement ring. Stilty's PM box appears to be full. I'd be more than happy to buy a ring from him and a datewheel overlay if he has but if he's unreachable, does anyone know if Raffle Times on Ebay's ring is compatible? (And Stilty, if you see this post, please PM me, I'll get from you) Thanks for you help!
  8. Hi Stilty, your PM is full again. I want to buy a movement ring. Thanks.

  9. Those are beauties! Makes me want to keep a better lookout for a genuine dial now. Mine with the updated, correct font datewheel came from Josh.
  10. Let me sift through my bookmarks for a link for you...
  11. I'll echo the wrong parts sent experience here too. Luckily returning the caseback gaskets went ok. Can't help about the bezel, but I'm pretty sure any of these aftermarket inserts to be put on a rep will need to be sanded a little first for a proper fit. Easy mod.
  12. If all else fails, you'll need to buy a hand held case opener die for Breitling. They're about $20 to $30 so.
  13. Just ordered a 6 watch box for Father's Day. Yes, the speed and the service is quite good!
  14. The condition of his health is exactly what he shared with me the last time I spoke with him. I wish him the best and hope for his speedy, full recovery.
  15. I heard that the "trendsetters" at Basel are saying gold ( and I suppose that includes TT) will be making a huge comeback. I'm not sure if the reason is related to the topic above or simply just the nature of typical trends--one look just gets "tired" after a while and another comes in to replace it. This routine just recycles and recycles over time.
  16. Regarding President bracelets, yes, I believe they were on eBay quite recently in the $2K range. The bracelet will get the most wear but the watch head will see wear also and likely may need re-plating.
  17. Those dials are quite nice, a far cry from most of the ones I saw on another site. They look like a real good source .
  18. Excellent link! WOW!! Mine's exactly on time down to the second!
  19. The color is going to vary, probably from factory to factory, maybe even dealer to dealer. The color can resemble bronze, as you have seen, more like brass ( as on door [censored]s) to closer to gen 14K, to a richer, perhaps more orange-like color, approaching the look of real 18K. Without regular protection with sealant and wax, I see the later appears most susceptible to wearing off fastest.
  20. Even when under the weather, he'll get back to you. You could try him on RWI. He hasn't failed me yet.
  21. I definitely agree but out of pure curiosity: anyone know how many grams/ounces gen full 18K Subs, Yachtmasters, and DDs weigh? Thanks.
  22. If it is helpful and you prefer one stop shopping, Joe also told me he has a guy who can source gen dials as well.
  23. Last time I spoke to Red Big Joe about it, he said he can attach gen dial to ETA mvts. I know it involves milling the dial, greatly modifiying the mvt feet/gluing the dial to the mvt but Joe told me he has/can do it. It's a project though and is not cheap ,particularly when factoring the cost of the gen dial ( few hundred bucks)
