thanx robbie- yes the gen bracelet fits the Pam like a glove. love your UN! wish they would make a rep with the rubber strap

its hard to verify the claims about the gold plating thickness, but 1 practical thing that i've noticed is that the 14kt. wrap will include the edges of the links. the cheaper 18kt. plating is only on the top. that's why i would go for the extra $$ that it costs. for ex.- Josh charges $80 more for the 'wrap' vs the plated rollies.
-
BTW- a quickie calculation: the DD weighs about 120 grams or 4.3 oz. roughly the case and the band are solid gold, therefore the raw gold costs about 4K! that doesn't explain fully the 25K price of the gen. the rest R&D, Marketing, etc???
-
none of the dealers around here sell SOLID Gold presidential DD. In fact i would NOT advise you getting one. some of the "scam sites" as they are called here, such as Go replica sell or sold them. the last time i looked, they were about 4K. but who really knows what they are selling. with gold almost $1000/ ounce or so what kind or rep can you expect @ reasonable price? Why not get a nice 14Kt wrapped 2 tone or even a gen 2 tone that's used if money is an issue. Good luck

First Impressions - Tag Heuer Grand Carrera
Noel Fleischer replied to TmeShare's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
Here's my crappy pic again. i heard from Andrew that the slow beat mov't was due to the sec@ 3 issue?? as i have said - the quality of the watch is excellent. i find the thickness and weight abit much because of my size. -

Cartier roadster - is square like but a great rep IMO. the rep is the large but not XL size, not huge! -
thanx guys. doc - you're wearing all of those? i dig the special 'this was james' ym!

its $400 abit more than the usual from J&A for example, but cheaper than the MBK and without that huge date font. i would still recommend it highly.

Rolex Daytona rep 7750 asain Or something else ?
Noel Fleischer replied to lotsofgears1's topic in The Rolex Area
it looks pretty good, where did you get it? i wouldn't bother trying to do better, they're pretty much the same and for the ball park price. as you probably know- this rep, if it is sec@ 6, is prone to problems anyway. why don't you try something else, there are plenty out there that will be more reliable. good luck -
Ladies & gents i present the long awaited TT blue sub by BK. it took 10 weeks but it really is a nearly flawless rep. again please excuse the poor pix.
-
cool. i live here but i rarely buy anything down there anymore. i've gotten hooked on the expensive stuff on the internet. you can get a fairly decent rep for about $50. not anything with an'eta' mov't or real working chrono. I've gotten some subs or dj's for that price. the trouble is - you can get a noob for about $80 and shipping. i think they're better than what they sell on canal street.

i was just at tha AD today and had another look at the gen Grand Carrera. the rep is thicker and seems to be abit heavier as well. the second hand and stop watch sweep second hand are way smoother on the gen. the small disk thing is not that noticeable however.the problem IMO is that extra 3mm height! otherwise the face is very well done; the screws are there also next to the disks. again the overall finish on the rep is very nice. Andrew said the secs@ 3 is what required the slower mov't. it does seem to be keeping good time, maybe a hair slow- but that can always be adjusted.

Being a rolex fan, i prefer 40- 42mm. i gotta say i love the HB BB which is mush bigger but wears very comfortably. i'm having issues already with the new Tag Grand Carrera which is 43 & 18mm but is very clunky. even my Ingy @ about 42mm is kinda heavy and bulky. i may put a leather or rubber band to lighten it up abit. i think the new GMT2 is a great size.
-
wow- my first 'first'. i don't know why the pix always come out as the thumbnails. i have a long way to go before the pix look like By-Tor's or the other guys that really know what they're doing with photoshop. btw- i spoke to Andrew about the sweep. its only a low beat 21K movement. overall; aside from the sweep and the size it looks like a good rep. i once tried the gen and i don't remember it feeling so big and heavy. therefore i don't think ths will end up being a "super rep"
-
Its still big in real life, By-Tor. Here's another: this hobby is killing me, now it looks like i gotta buy a better camera too. any rep nikon's, jejeje
-
I got it from Andrew. as i said from the beginning- there was concern that the 18mm thickness is too much. I'm thinking of returning it because By-Tor noted it looks like a clock! besides the thickness ther's a big heavy quality that the actuall dimensions don't convey. for ex.- i have a HB BB that is bigger but seems to 'wear ' smaller. some people like hockey pucks- i'm too small for them. i will try to get some better pix. i have a old 3 megapixal job and i'm trying to learn this internet thing, sorry.
-
The running seconds is not that smooth either. it is a weird system- a rotating disk. i never saw that before. the finish is good- i'll try to post some pix soon.
-
I think it says caliber 18, but its very small! It looks nice, the sweep on the chrono is not smooth at all.
-
I finally got the new Grand Carrera - please excuse the lousy photo. It is a monster- its only about 43mm but wears loke 50! alsi very thick @ 18mm. The truth is i think its too big for me.

I really like this HB BB i got from Angus. I would definitely recommend the AR for $30; still less than $300!!
