For all those indicating this is a flawed PAM 89 rep - PAM 89 is Titanium, blue face with black subdial. If SS, blue face and blue subdial then this is PAM 228, so wrong comparison. Ttk's offer is closer to the PAM 228 and I could not resist, so I bought it. Beautiful watch. Neil's offer and here is... PAM 228 Usil

I guess I am wierd then because I like it a lot better than the rubber strap. You definitely need a dark color and the chocko blends in nicely. This is nothing but class. People will give this a double whammy when they first see this combination. Usil

Iwc Fa Jones Running 5-10 Min Fast Per Day
Usil replied to watchgrl's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Hello from Paris. Actually, I am sitting in a hotel room in S. Africa at the moment but at least I have the forum to pass the time. ubiquitous is right, the change needed may be beyond the regulator arm maximum adjustment point. Is there cheep or free computer software that allows a microphone to listen to the watch beat and display timing on a chart - allowing real time settings? Usil -
Iwc Fa Jones Running 5-10 Min Fast Per Day
Usil replied to watchgrl's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I did this recently on a F.A. Jones and it was easy. Carefully remove the screws in the back, remove the case and keep the screws in a container. Use the long adjuster arm and move it in the direction to reduce or speed up as needed. At first you don't know how much to move it so start with a full measured mark to mark on the scale. Check in 8 hours to see the change. On your experience, make smaller and smaller adjustments until you are satisfied. I did this for a few weeks (did not reattach the back) until I was satisfied. I got it to about 3 to 4 seconds a day. then applied loc tite to the screws and reassembled? Usil -

I am looking to buy a few of the new crowns for my PAMS and try to install them myself. I have learned the process of removing the crown and stem from the watch but am not sure of the process of how to get the old crown off and put on the new one. Can anyone please provide the process I should use to do this? Thansk, Usil

A very cynical view and and, I would say, not one shared by most on this forum. Normal comparisons do not apply for reps. If they were in the open market subject to the normal competative pressures of retail sales this would be true but such is not the case for reps. I don't thnk many will agree with you that this is moaning. Any shairing from the dealers with us is welcome. Usil -
Just Some Words From The Bottom Of Our Hearts

Trustywatchguy was my first dealer and I have bought several reps from him. I know that there are risks involved for all and I am thankful that dealers provide the service that they do for guys like us who enjoy this as a hobby. I have seen many of the posts here from those that just don't get it and have unrealistic demands and expectations. It has been said many times here that we should never use money that we can not afford to loose. That is the price of doing what we do. Sometimes, things just do not work out and we need to move on. If we can not accept this then we should not even attempt to purchase reps. The dealers here do there very best to satisfy us in the sales and many bend over backwards, sometimes to their loss, to keep us happy. I know that and most of the others here do too. Unfortunately, many are forgetting exactly what we are all doing here. I can not imagine a much harder business to be in for the dealers with so many obstacles. Frankly, if this all went away, I would suffer withdrawal as I love the reps I have purchased and count myself lucky that I have so many nice watches. I appreciate the dealers who have provided them to me and I would like to think that I will be able to do this for years to come. So, please accept the thanks from most of us here and those that are sour about the whole process, just forget them as they are not representative of the rest of us. As for some of the comments about the 'next versions', this is a community where much is discussed and hopes are expressed. Just because we say these things does not prevent us from buying. It is just community talk amongst ourselves. We appreciate your efforts. Usil -
That looks like a great watch. Wear it well. Usil

Gerco, Glad I could help. The results are amazing and the PO was easy to work on. If you do this on any other watches, let us know. So far, only the PAM 127 and the PO suffers from this in my collection of 16 watches. At least noticably so. Usil

Very nice look for this watch. As this is a chemical process, it might be best to insure you remove all skin oils from handling the watch by using an ammonia compound like a window or lens cleaner. This would insure no motteling where oiled areas took up less chemicals. Just a suggestion. As for dipping entire watch into chemicals, I will wait for someone else to try this first. Usil

I have used Mephisto Waterproof - Shoe Cream - Dark Brown. Is worked very well on one of my straps but just a note for those that will try this - don't forget it will stain the stitching too and your nice contrasting light colored stitch will be 'less contrasty'. Usil

I have several case back removal tools and all of them remind me of sharp metal claws just ready to tear the hell out of the back of my nice new watch at the slightest misstep in use - which has happened. Wouldn't it make more sence to make the small inserts into these tools out of nylon or other tough durable plastic? Does anyone do this? Usil

That was great and I loved the music. Usil

Welcome, you found the right group. Just read your head off and learn - learn - learn. But don't forget to have fun. Usil

This is probably not going to end pretty. Getting it out with any force will leave dings or marks and this will look as bad as the crooked screw. This is not a minor cosmetic issues since it is staring yoiu in the face and hopefully you can get a replacement from your dealer. Usil

I have seen the U-boat before and I like the watch. I think they have good lume?? Usil
