  1. No doubt when I am done training I will get my gen Chrono Superocean . I used to look at these watches and say, man it would be nice to own a couple of these some day. Even with anesthesia money I would only be able to purchase a few. It is just too much fun collecting reps, so I plan on being around here for a while.
  2. My daily beater is no rep either. I got this baby at Macy's for under $150. I had to by it before I started my clinical rotations. I didn't want the docs I was working with to be intimidated by what was on the my wrist. I used to wear a BR-01 as a daily but water got in it one day when I was poured down on, on the golf course. So I gave in and purchased an every day quartz watch to wear. This one is in fact water resistant to 100m. But I will say, every day I see plenty of watches that we all talk about on the wrists of the docs I work with. I saw a Patek and AP last week in the doctors lounge.
  3. I am a big fan of the Bell & Ross Instrument BR-02. Lanikai recently posted a review, concluding it is a great buy. http://www.rwg.cc/members/BR-02-92-ST-1000-Mac-t89040.html He reviewed the SS one but the PVD is available. Its on my short list for 2009.
  4. Great... I was thinking maybe trying black or brown polish. Will try the clear. Thanks.
  5. I tend to prefer leather straps on my watches . The straps that come on many of the reps I own are of sub-par quality. I have purchased new straps for a few of mine but it can get expensive . In some cases the straps will be worth more then the watch itself! The straps that tend to be the worst are on my dress watches, which should look the best. I got black and brown leather straps with alligator designs. Does anybody have any tips on making these straps look more authentic. I was thinking of using shoe polish . What are your thoughts? Thank You,
  6. I just ordered a Jumbo Curvex Crazy Hours from Josh . Anybody have any experience with this watch, the jumbo version, or have any opinions on it? The size of the jumbo is 40x47x15 as compared to 30x40x10. I have been a huge fan of this watch since I read Toad's review the watch I thought was too small for my wrist. Is this jumbo version a fabricated watch or does Franck Muller really make this size Curvex watch?
  7. Thanks for the recommendations. I really appreciated it. Can you recommend where I can get the lubes that are used for the o--rings and gaskets? Do you oil and lube up all your reps when you receive them? I heard that not doing it is a major cause of death to many of the reps we order.
  8. Now that I have a some reps and a couple broken ones, I figured I would explore opening them up and doing some servicing , more like tinkering, myself. I am looking for a beginner tool kit. I found this one on http://www.thewatchguy.com/pages/TOOLS.html. It comes with: - 9pc Watchmakers Screwdriver Set w/ Stand - 1 Parts Tray - 1 Pair Watchmakers Tweezers - 1ml MOEBIUS Professional Watch Oil - 1 Medium Tip Swiss Oiler - 1 7x Jewelers Loupe - 1 Dust Blower - 1 Case Knife - 1 Waterproof Case Wrench with Case * - 1 Watch Hand Remover Tool - 1 Watch Hand Inserting Tool - 1 Professional Crystal Lift * - 1 Crystal Inserting Plate * - 1 Book: "Watch Repairing as a Hobby"- D.W.Fletcher Will this be what I need to do some basic things such as oiling the movement and greasing the o-rings? Maybe change out a movement? Anyone read the included book? If so, how is it? Any other recommendations on a kit? Thank You.
  9. Based on what I hear, i am going to put off my next gen purchase for a while. I am really waiting for a good deal on the rep market I got three watches on my wish list. we'll see how this turns out.
  10. I've been looking for reps of the this brand for a while......no dice. My personal favorite is the Torpedo Pulsometro model (round case). If you find them some good reps..... Let me know!!
  11. In today's economy, I want to know if you all think that watch prices will fall . I got into reps because the prices of most of the watches I want are out of my $$$ range . But with today's economy I think there should be some good deals on reps and gens alike. I am actively looking for deals on used gens but really haven't found many. Just wondering if this is wishful thinking or do I not know where to look.
  12. I have a rep Oris CCLE. I believe it has an asian 7750 with running sec at 3. The very first day it ran +15 min. I thought maybe it was a warm up period, but the fast time hasn't stopped; one week now. I don't know enough about mechanical watches to know what the problem or solution is. I was hoping someone could help me out. Is there any hope? Is this watch junk or can it be repaired? What are my options? I have a few reps and this is the first time I've seen this problem. Thank You!!!
  13. My vote is for good ....the making of an expensive but good night.
  14. What about he 39 mm. Did BR ever make one of these? I can't find it anywhere else besides the rep sites.
  15. I just had to send mine back with two issues. Both issues happened after about 10-15 days of wrist time. I had it less then a month when the crown screw striped and would no longer screw shut. Don't know if this a common? Secondly, internally something came loose and was banging inside the case. It just started to make noise one day when wearing. I really liked wearing this watch. There was no problems with the return. Hopefully it gets returned to me soon. Enjoy Yours!
  16. These have not been posted on Josh's web site? I can't find them.
  17. Did the price go up after this review? I have looked at a couple of the collectors' websites and can't find one for under $200. None of the sites I looked at mention the jumping hours either. Is it a understood that this watch only comes with the jumping hours? I have seen an automatic ETA 2824-2 movement offered.
  18. The steel with Black face Swordfish- the numbers look off. When do you think they will get the correct buckle?
  19. I have an Oris CCLE. I received it with a tilted crystal. It is not plush with the case on all sides. How would you recommend I fix it. Would I have take it all apart or can just put pressure on the area of the crystal that sticks up. I heard it is a thick crystal, 4.5 mm. I am also a little scared of messing with this watch b/c it is supposed to be water resistant to 100m. Maybe it safer to find a watch smith to do it? Crystals are held in place by fit right? No glue or other adhesives?
  20. Great looking watches. I love the B&R. Are the screws in the back carved or are they real?
  21. I don't know much about tourbillion movements, but I do know they are expensive! Lately I have heard some talks about different types of tourbillion movements, i.e. flying, gyro, etc. I guess I am looking for a little education on these movements. Are the Asian types worth it? What is the Asian capabilities? Breguet invented it right, Do they still use the original design? Who makes the best tourbillion?
  22. Did not notice that. I guess your right. Still one of my favorites right now.
  23. Silix. Error free dispite what i have been hearing lately.
  24. My newest addition to my collection. I know there have been mixed reviews on the condition upon arrival. Mine was great, no complaints. This is a beast to wear! It sits 2 cm off my wrist. I am glad I didn't wait for the metal band, the thick rubber one is very rugged and well made. Nothing but compliments on the watch thus far. The rumor is that it has been tested to 5 atm; this will be the first rep I will try out diving. We'll see how that goes.
  25. I just got my Oris CC limited edition from Silix. Awesome watch! For the summer...... I can't wait to read some reveiws on the Graham Swordfish, black with orange numbers!!!!! I really hope the reviews are good that one. If the reviews are bad then I will settle of for Chopard XXL. We'll See.
