  1. Sure, but it wasn't worn on the Moon.
  2. It's over! The 3717 won 23 votes to 19 (PO) and 17 (SFSO).
  3. The problem is that he's asked two distinctly different questions: Best and Favourite.
  4. You've not worked in many European cities then. Practically no-one drives. I don't even have a driver's license; I've never needed one. The closest I get to driving a car is ... um, I ride a Ducati 748 and there's no way I'd ride it to work.
  5. Yeah, I was just waiting for the Aquatimer to be released before posting it. Oh well, you snooze you lose, I suppose. Great article, though.
  6. Well, of all the marques, IWC is probably my favourite of the replicated brands. Also, I did mod my 3717 myself.
  7. ETA-powered SFSO
  8. My first day will most likely be auditing all the servers. Or at least, it's what I'd like to do first just so I know where I stand. I'm ex-Agency.com, ex-OnlineMagic myself. A decade of managing webservers behind me and I'm back doing it again. I love it, me.
  9. Yup, Buzz Aldrin's was on the moon.
  10. Hi, welcome to the internet where people don't believe we landed on the moon.
  11. This is why Rolexes aren't even in the options.
  12. You and me both, mate.
  13. So, the fact they put a mirror there you can shine a laser at and get a reflection back on earth is ... what exactly? An astronomer's conspiracy? Amateurs the world over tracked the moon landing with telescopes and radios. They either had to land on the moon or fly a TV transmitter up to the moon on a robotic mission with pre-timed video and space robots at the wheel. Honestly, which is more likely. Don't let your own ignorance of the technology and the event prejudice you against its having happened. For instance, the TV signals were received at Parkes Observatory in Australia meaning it'd be a hoax involving the US and Australia, involving both amateur and professional astronomers and scientists in several countries. How on earth could they keep a lid on something this widespread and important if it were a hoax? If it takes competition to push us to do the impossible, then I say bring it on. Yes, it should be a mankind thing, but that's not going to happen. If China want a race to Mars, I'm all for it. Whatever it takes to get us out of the [censored]ing cave. 14. Black Markets are only free markets for the sellers. The buyers always get the worst end of the stick in any supposed example of a free market.
  15. There's no such thing as a free market.
  16. Nah, I'm pretty agnostic when it comes to server flavours. I'm running Leopard on my laptop, but I'm not fascist enough to impose my choice on paying clients; that way leads to less paying clients.
  17. I do believe that they would not have become more honest without the thread. Like I said, the thread served its purpose. The cartel realised honesty was an overlooked part of business and they shifted to market pressure.
  18. ... and that they most likely want to bring the equipment back, unlike back in the 60s and 70s where they threw money away on disposable rockets, landers, etc.
  19. I've come to believe that the white lies thread served its purpose. At first I was shocked by the lack of response it got, but looking back, the dealers know we're watching and have changed their practices a little. The Cartel saw the line they shouldn't cross and, surprisingly, they haven't crossed it. Sure, they charge more (for reasons that we've been into a thousand times) but they're a lot more honest in their descriptions.
  20. I went to a few UK games in the 80s, when we first got NFL on the telly. It's a great sport and I used to follow it every week on Channel 4. Back then, the games had crowds in the scores (maybe even hundreds for a big one).
  21. That's because when JFK said it, it was a bold challenge and had an unlimited budget as it was a huge part of the cold war. Safety of the astronauts was pretty much a secondary concern and they knew it. When Bush said it'd take 30 years, he meant that with a very limited budget, increased safety requirements and no real need to go, they'd get round to it. I mean, we've been; why push hard just to go again?
  22. If there's one thing that really makes my blood boil, it's people claiming we never went to the moon. There is no way to make yourself look more stupid than ignoring every piece of evidence (including home tests if you have a laser) that we landed on the moon. Of all the conspiracies to believe in, the one of the moon landing being a hoax is the only one that actively tries to make us (as a race) look less impressive than we are. It's the one that denies our adventurous spirit and throws us back to being lying apes instead of heroic pioneers. What is it that makes us want to deny our dreams and hopes? We landed on the [censored]ing moon, we took photos and we came back. We did it on gumption, can-do attitude and balls and we did it armed with merely with men in lab-coats wielding slide rules and clip boards, and that makes us mighty. The men that went up there did so at the risk of death, just to push the boundaries and climb towards greatness. Would you rather believe we're timid shitevoles, scrabbling round pretending we went to the moon? If so, I pity you.
  23. Nah, I suspected it'd be a three-horse race.
  24. FreeBSD ... my second favourite OS after PayBSD (aka MacOSX).
  25. Ooh, looking close with the 3717, PO and Steelfish running up front, unsurprisingly. As those three are the three watches I travel with, I'm not at all surprised to see them up there.
