  1. Who? Welcome back.
  2. One of the reasons for the increase in prices is that suppliers/factories have seen that they can increase the prices as there are a lot of people wanting to sell replicas. This in turn means all dealers get hit by price rises. Couple this with our demand for better service and increased prices are an inevitability. A boycott won't change this.
  3. One of the first rules of waterproof watches is not to heat them up as the heat stresses the rubber seals and case metal. Steam rooms are watch killers.
  4. Graham watches are not the sort of thing you wear down the local ASDA. In fact, if I had one I'd not wear it often, however there would be times that it'd be precisely the watch to wear. Much like the Panerai 187, sometimes you need something brutal to put on your wrist. The Graham fits the bill. ps. All those who hate it will suddenly flip to loving it one day. It's odd. Me? I like some of them rather a lot, but think the ones with L and R on them remind me of kids' wellies or mittens with LEFT and RIGHT written on them.
  5. Neither does the fact that he single-handedly carried his team to two world cup finals, winning one of them.
  6. Let's not forget he's an actor, writer and director. So, you say Reservoir Dogs is good, Victoria, do you mean the writing, the directing or both? Ok, you said "director" so let's just assume you meant "director" and look at his other films purely from a directorial point of view. Pulp Fiction: Oscar Nominated for best director ... and a truly original film that oozes cool. Won the Oscar for best writer, so it's tough to call Tarantino over-rated as a writer, but we're just discussing him as a director, right? Aw, shucks, I don't really need to go through his directorial skills for each movie, do I? I mean you've already written off Pulp Fiction, so there's no chance for any of the rest. Oh, even if you don't like the films, you can't say they're badly made.
  7. It's not the cost with a Rolex, it's the image and the "is that real" that you only get with a Rolex. Besides, I don't want to wear a "fake rolex" to my first day of work.
  8. Yeah, I hope it comes out in my first month of gainful employment.
  9. What I wore to the interview: Charcoal suit, black shirt, no tie. I think I might have a tie somewhere, but I don't do ties.
  10. Very nice! One more vote for keeping it a 24h movement.
  11. Steel bracelet, leather strap or rubber strap?
  12. There we go, the first cli joke.
  13. It's the kind of job where you can afford an IWC.
  14. Suit? I don't think I'll be wearing a suit. Oh, I wear mostly black. If I wear a suit, it'll be charcoal. Don't expect white or light shirts, either.
  15. It's a gen, but not of the version we've got repped. ... and yes, the dial is supposed to look like that.
  16. I start a new job on Monday (finally!) as a Senior UNIX Sysadmin for a company that does web sites for various clients. I only found out the start date today, but I'm pretty chuffed about the whole thing, right up until Mrs Pugwash laughed at me and said "You're thinking about what watch to wear" as I was resizing my Seiko Monster bracelet and suddenly, I was. Until then, it hadn't bothered me, but now she's said it, I'm trying to decide. You'll notice there's no Rolexes on the options as I don't think that sends the right message at all. So, here are the main contenders in pictures: IWC GST Chrono IWC 3717 Omega Planet Ocean 45mm Breitling Steelfish Panerai 111 Panerai 187
  17. Or rather he didn't, but we'll let you off. "There's a sucker born every minute, but none of them ever die" - Joseph "Paper Collar Joe" Bessimer, Con Man, 1880s
  18. Brave man! Welcome out of the shadows, it's good to see even lurkers can have a pair.
  19. What about this old favourite?
  20. Same as yesterday:
  21. ... and that takes an awful lot of photoshop to achieve.
  22. Eh? There were a lot more than that.
  23. Funny, but I had to edit the URL as the censor got it. Here's a redirect: http://tinyurl.com/ytl6tj
  24. What will it take? Does VB herself have to come on and tell you all to stop using her thread to create drama? She knows me, she knows where I'm coming from and she understands I mean her no malice at all, and that to me is enough, regardless of what you think. Sheesh, go find drama where there actually is some and let people either discuss religion or VB's poor dad in this thread.
