  1. I agree. Oh, and treat it as rubbish even if it's a dealer saying it's been serviced, unless they can give you some sort of proof.
  2. I just assumed it's useless for Macro shots.
  3. I too am no fan of George Bush, but Loose Change, and all the other 9/11 conspiracies, always struck me as being stupid. The problem is, with theories that stupid going around, it's easy to dismiss other stories about other events involving Bush et al by lumping them with this one. "Boy, you're dumb. I bet you believe all that [censored] like Loose Change and Inconvenient Truth..."
  4. Hang on, is the tail of the S flat on that one too? Has the visual tell on our reps disappeared? Damn, it would appear the only remaining tells are the pearl and the lume on the chapter ring.
  5. Yes, you did later on, but it was amusing.
  6. 4 is too low. You want 5/sec.
  7. rubber ... cut to laptop ... steel. Ah yes, whatever happened to the GMT?
  8. Because "new" in replicas can mean "unfinished". A serviced 7750 is worth more than an unserviced 7750. To further your car analogy, would you pay more for a completed kit car than the parts alone?
  9. Ah, I see. No. I believe the 45 is still the better rep.
  10. The "ultimate" you keep hearing about is the 45mm version.
  11. ... but look how pretty! click for 1280x800 version
  12. Ok, I gave it a go and didn't like the results. The HDR version is the first one and the standard shot is the second one. I used DRIMaker http://www.drimaker.com/index_eng.html I don't think it's ideal for watches.
  13. Ugh. Please search for a thread called "Little White Lies". What you're reading there is what's called marketing [censored]. Adding gaskets does nothing: A watch shouldn't be sold with gaskets missing in the first place. Maybe they mean they'll replace gaskets or something, but it's just waffle. Don't fall for the hype.
  14. Damnit, I have to try this!
  15. Excellent. That verifies my opinion. I have avoided getting a watch winder because I don't see the point. I'm not scared of setting my watches before wearing them and I don't see the need to waste electricity to save me 30 seconds when choosing a watch. The only reason I would ever consider a winder is for a perpetual calendar. Some of them are not designed to be set backwards and rolling past a certain date can necessitate a watchmaker's intervention to get the date correct. Some jewellers only sell Perpetual Calendars with a winder.
  16. If someone is conned, they don't usually know immediately. That's the point. One problem I came across when trying to sell my watches here recently (to pay for my Steelfish) was that I had absolutely no barometer against which to price two of my three watches. It's all well and good saying I can sell it for what someone is willing to pay, but this forum doesn't have an auction system. I don't know if I let them go too cheap or if I was overpriced. When you're talking of all this free market stuff, you're talking about markets where one seller is selling the same commodity over and over again until he finds the price the market is willing to bear. When one seller has one watch, how can he find the stable point? How can I know what the fair market value is for a replica that no-one stocks any more? Besides, we have a regulated market here. You have to display a price and you need to be a member to do so. This is not a free market and you need to follow the rules to take part.
  17. Adding gaskets? A dealer that advertises waterproofing will do the following to waterproof your watch: test it. If it passes the test, it's waterproof. If it fails, it gets sold to someone else. Changing gaskets is a bad thing to do as the gaskets fitted should be the right size. Sure, I'd grease gaskets on any watch I intended to get wet, but that's not the point. A dealer offering waterproofing is offering testing and a guarantee. This may be worth it to you.
  18. I'd like to modify that slightly: Sellers should ask whatever an informed buyer is willing to pay.
  19. A drop of water.

  21. A gen picture of the model with the square-sectioned bracelet:
  22. It's Idol stuff, so don't expect nudity. She did a few nude shoots early in her career, if you're really good at searching ...
  23. Excellent collection and photos.
