  1. It's a stall in a shopping mall, not a shop. It's best if you banish all images of western shops from your mind when you go there as the culture shock can be debilitating otherwise. Most stalls won't try to sell you what you want, they'll try to sell you what they want. They can also ignore you for quite some time if they're chatting with the stall next to them. If they are having difficulty with language, they deny everything, hoping you'll just go away. There are other things that can be wildly confusing and illogical, but I'll leave you to discover them yourself. If you've never been to BKK before, I'd advise getting your MBW fairly near the beginning of your trip in case you have to go back again and again. Oh, and once you've bought something from a stall, look back and if realise you were just haggling over a 20c price difference like your life depended on it and you walked away thinking it wasn't worth it otherwise, then you know you're embroiled in their game.
  2. This must be a US-thing. The cars and bikes are Beemers where I'm from. Either that or I'm not surrounded by "BMW Enthusiasts", for which I must admit to being grateful.
  3. And I remembered the case in more detail for some reason, which led to my finding it on TehWiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louise_Woodward
  4. Yet it means if you start poor, you'd better hope for a sporting scholarship or it'll take you generations to crawl out. Oh, hang on, that's what's happening in the US with the racial divide. Yeah, makes sense.
  5. I'm Brian and so's my wife.
  6. Another day, another watch. As I'm going in for an MRI tomorrow (tracking down the cause of my recent bloody annoying Menieres Disease attacks), I thought I'd better dose myself up with radiation first. Nuke 'em till they glow and shoot 'em in the dark! Yes, that's right, it's tritium time, and that can only mean one thing: The SUG Nautilus.
  7. lol
  8. ps. If you liked that game, here's the original site with it, and many others like it. http://www.b3ta.co.uk/ Dr. Joe shamelessly stole the page from B3ta...
  9. Um, I know two of those women ...
  10. No chance. This is why I prefer to go on recommendations or use our dealers as personal-shoppers-by-proxy. ps. My gut tells me this is a gen PP.
  11. Yet you offered a 90€ Asian movement 111h for 140€ claiming it was Swiss? I'm withholding judgement on your movement spotting skills for now.
  12. I'm going to be quite boring and say stuff like the Aston Martin DB9, the Lancia Stratos and the Lamborghini Miura. It's either that or a Ducati 998 (not the 999, and I don't know the 1098 that well yet), Kawasaki ZXR750 (with the airtubes) and either the Honda 400/4 or the Suzuki GT550.
  13. I think what everyone is saying is yes, maybe driving a BMW can be kinda over the top, but let's face it, the 3-series isn't really a BMW.
  14. Crystal, bezel, lugholes, dial, caseback, pearl ... It's a different watch, basically. It's the older version of the Sub, yes.
  15. I'd translate "Peter un Plomb" as "To push the boat out" or "to go wild".. "A friend was coming around, so I decided to push the boat out and get some great wine in."
  16. Send it over and I'll fix 'em for you once I've moved house.
  17. Untouched crown guards?
  18. Of course it's not a set-in-stone rule. I think you may merely be arguing for the sake of arguing, as I'm obviously talking in vague generalities and you're trying to pin me on absolutes. In over 90% of the cases out there, I'm right and you're taking me to task over the few cases that don't fit? Sure, you win, whatever. I'm becoming a lightning rod for arguments, and it's not fun.
  19. We save people from buying ... um, replicas. No replicas, no need to save people.
  20. Sure they do, as long as it's not their money. What I don't understand is the perceived necessity for a degree to get the good jobs. Is it an artificially maintained divide between poor and rich, whereby you need to pay the six-figure entrance fee to get in on the fast track? I presume this is a US-bias, as in the UK education is a hell of a lot cheaper and you can do well without an old school tie or fraternity chant. Go Obscure-Animals-To-Which-We-Liken-Our-Sports-Team!
  21. The bracelet is near genuine quality.
  22. A great alternative ... for you.
