Yes, toothpicks are important parts of my toolkit.

If you try that with a gen, you're looking at hundreds of dollars of depreciation. You can't rent a Gen for 25 bucks to see how it feels for a week.

Well, you can, by all means. However, if I were you, I'd use it to slide the spring bars out of their holes. Googling for "Watch strap removing" has several tutorials.

Um ... a regular spike. Something long and sharp. A small but strong screwdriver may do, even. I even found a photo of what I use!

I use a simple spike. I find regular strap removers are not thin enough to get to the spring bar.
