Ask me in a few months. I should have destroyed enough of my own watches by then to take on damaging other people's. Um, I mean ... I'll be able to change dials.
Bzzt. Close but no cigar.
1 bar is 10 metres underwater. 2 bar is 20 metres underwater. A 10 bar watch is a 100 metre diving watch.
P is the hydrostatic pressure (in pascals);
p is the water density (in kilograms per cubic meter);
g is gravitational acceleration (in meters per second squared);
h is the height of fluid above (in meters).
1 bar = 100 000 pascals
Where you're getting confused is that pressure in bars is measured relative to atmospheric pressure. A watch at 10 bars is 10 bars more than the 1 atm we have. 1 atm is an absolute scale, 1 bar is relative, that's why we have the two similar units.
Good thread. I must admit I'm the other way around. I got a 111h and was more impressed by it than I thought I would be, and then I won a 196 and got a 183 at the same time to save on the postage and a credit note I had with Silix for my Rolex GMT repair. I never appreciated the 196 or the 183 until I got them. They too impressed me more than I thought they would, and my next PAM is the one I think is the ugliest (apart from the Purdey ones), the 187. I bet I like that fugly puck too, just to be annoying.
ps. The GMTs? I'm kinda neutral towards them. That speaks volumes. Not even ugly enough to be interesting.
Yeah, this happens. It's like some people crash computers more than others. We got one guy an anti-static mat as a wrist-rest, for instance, and it stopped his computer crashing.
Bizzare, but true. It may be related to how near pylons you live or whether or not the mains trunk in your house runs past the head of your bed. I have no idea, but it happens.
Nope. I'd either do 1920x1200 or 1440x900 as 1680x1050 is a silly size.
I've done several 1920x1200 wallpapers, but not of the GST. I'll see if I can do a 1920 for you, but it's pretty much at the limit of my camera's capabilities. Sure, it'll do 2560xWhatever, but the noise is visible at a 1:1 view, even at ISO80.
ps. This piece can be converted to 1680x by upscaling horizontally with little visible loss in quality and cropping vertically.

Ok, I'll forgive the size.
Well, we now know the official stance and that's good enough for me.
