  1. The point of Photoshop is to enhance your work, in my opinion. If your pictures are crappy, then Photoshop isn't really going to help. Garbage in, garbage out. There is also a tendancy to overshop some pictures, whereas I try to use it just to bring out what's already there. Now, I know some of you are going to find this hard to believe, but this picture here ... ... came off the camera like this ... ... and I was happy with the low-light version coming off the camera because I knew the data I wanted and what I could get away with.
  2. It was here, but it didn't include this info, hence my collating the images.
  3. This post is possibly of limited use, but all of us watchgeeks and rephounds should find it interesting in the least. This information is by no means hard to come by, and I believe other before me have presented you the information, but here, upon those giants' shoulders, is a collation of all the pictures in an easy-to-digest format. Where do replica movements come from? I think it would be safe to say "Tianjin Seagull" in most cases. If you look at the TY-2846 version of the ST16, for instance, you'll see a familiar-looking GMT movement. The TY-2806 ST16 looks like that familiar Asian 21j. Without any further ado, here's the stuff: Pugwash's Seagull Library If any real experts, as opposed to a geek-with-google (me), wish to comment, I'd love to hear from you all on this subject.
  4. Me too. I'm a n00b but I think I pushed past the hazing, or I just didn't notice.
  5. The real trick is to do it all in the lens so this isn't necessary. Still, the more you do this, the more you know what exactly you're trying to do in the lens.
  6. Seagull ST-25
  7. Sort of. The problem is that the crystal is pointed straight at the camera lens meaning if it's truly head-on and not excellently lit, you'll see the camera, and usually some little Asian bloke's head. It's rather funny like that. What you need to do (if you want the simple quick way) is cast everything in front of the watch into shadow so there's nothing to reflect, which is how I took the DayDate pics earlier. Why do you think Pro cameras come in black? Still, even if the dealers were to try it, someone would still complain. Eddie captured what demanding customers can be like.
  8. Sharpening on a picture already plagued by noise enhances the noise as it picks out the edges of each grain. If you feel you need to use unsharp, you need to de-noise first. You know how I feel about that filter ... Great discussion. Shame it's not easily findable by title.
  9. There's one missing, too.
  10. Yes, you are.
  11. Ok, first step was Noise Ninja. Get rid of the camera noise. Then, it's all a matter of balancing the colour and light.
  12. Ok, I've heard enough hearsay. Show me these dealer pics that hide flaws. I'll be here all day, I can wait.
  13. Deleted because Randy beat me to it.
  14. Yes, it's the same €35 watch taken from two angles. To make matters worse, neither of them is correct. The date alignment on that watch is perfectly fine, but I deliberately took two pictures from different distances and angles to show how easy it is to get it slightly off and present what would normally be an accurate rep as a flawed one.
  15. I believe Mahler read it in an Italian translation and translated it back.
  16. Noise Ninja is a Photoshop plug-in designed to reduce noise, I presume in a ninja-like fashion. If I had an original of one of your photos, and not a reduced-size photobucket-mangled version, I could show you what's really possible.
  17. I'm not saying it's impossible, but which of these is correct?
  18. As I got up this morning, I saw the sun outside and reached for the Sub. I don't know why, but there you go.
  19. That says votes were cast 85-minutes in.
  20. I'll see your "finishing touch" and raise you a "noise ninja".
  21. This would be a perfect question for TTK's Photo Expert question section mission quest thing. However, here's a hint: lowest ASA/ISO possible. You should be able to get to 80-100 ASA and this will reduce the noise. You'll need more light, therefore slower speed therefore more stability, but it's worth it. If that doesn't help, use an anti-noise filter in software.
  22. Try it: Take a photo of a watch straight on and tell us how easy it is.
  23. Taking face-on shots is not straight-forward. Also, it makes the watch look flat and lifeless. Something to hide? If this were the case, every dealer review would mention it.
  24. Indeed, and all those who think the guy porking her is lucky, she's a no sex before marriage type. Like the old saying goes, no matter how beautiful a woman is, there's a guy somewhere that's fed up with her [censored].
  25. Mrs Pugwash has been asking the same question. It's well-known Zizou is a little hot-headed, but that was harsh, even for him. Shame it had to go to penalties, but them's the breaks.
