  1. Yes, you're right, and I tried to make that point in my post but I guess I wasn't clear. With the gen, you CAN buy that particular black face/red hands with a metal bracelet. But you CANNOT buy that black face with silver hands. That particular face (the one from the Carrera Tachymeter Racing) only comes with the red ones, at least according to Tag's web site.
  2. I assume everyone realizes that the combination of this particular black face, the red hands, and the rubber strap is a variant of the Carrera, the "Carrera Tachymeter Racing". These three things go together. Here's the link on Tag's web site: Headlines > New Products - Carrera Tachymeter Racing From Tag's web site, it doesn't look like they sell the model with the red hands with anything but that black face and the rubber strap or a metal bracelet. They don't have the red hands with anything else but that black face. So you can buy a different bracelet, but there is still a reason why the rep has the combination of features it does. If you put silver hands on that black face, it's a fantasy watch. Tag doesn't make it.
  3. I am awaiting my Big Bang from Angus (I've been tracking it from China) which has the double AR so I guess I'm going to find out... but I used to have a pair of glasses with AR and they were IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean. Just like SWDivad says, you'd clean them and 2 minutes later they'd be smudged again. I swore I would never get AR again. I hope this isn't the same, but I suspect it will be.
  4. Good point, Archibald. It's not the watch, it's who's wearing it. Some of my friends know I collect reps, and they absolutely refuse to believe that the two Tag Heuers I own are, in fact, gens.
  5. That's great, Angus. I already ordered the TT and I would definitely want the Gold/Ceramic and possibly the black magic as well.
  6. I don't have this watch (tho' I'm thinking about it), but one difference I could definitely see from comparing the close-up shots on Hublot's web site to the shots on Trusty's site is that the crown doesn't look the same on the rep as opposed to the gen.
  7. I haven't seen this watch, but as a general matter carbon fiber doesn't photograph very well. You have to put it on an angle to the light source to see it. Trusty confirmed that his version does have the carbon fiber, and I believe him. Thinking of buying this, but darn, it's expensive... although I spent some time comparing Trusty's pics to the detailed pics of the gens on the Hublot web site, and it's not perfect, but a darn good rep. Very close to the gen judging by the pictures, although I could spot some differences.
  8. I second the previous post. I bought two watches from Paul recently and his service and shipping speed were first-rate.
  9. I recently purchased two watches from Paul, a 45mm PO and a yachtmaster. I paid via WU. He replied promptly via e-mail, sent me tracking numbers, and I had the watches in less than two weeks, plus two free keychains. No problems at all, and his prices were quite a bit lower than other dealers. The watches look nice and I am very satisfied.
  10. Hey, that is my watch! I have the gen of that exact one... the CAF2112. Picked it up for 60% off at the Lord & Taylor going out of business sale... so I know it's real I will try to post a picture of it soon. It really is gorgeous. I have 7 reps but that gen Tag is the one I wear most of the time.
  11. I dunno, I never thought the PAMs looked very unique, they all look kind of the same to me, and they just didn't do anything for me. But I know you can't really tell from a pic, and everyone around here seems to like them sooooo much.... so I went to the local AD and looked at a few gens. Well, now that I've seen the real thing ... they still all look the same to me, and they didn't really look any different than the pics. So I don't think I'll be getting any. I know I'm in the minority and it's purely a matter of personal taste, of course, but I still just don't get it.
  12. I did get it, and I'm not reselling it, I'm keeping it!
  13. Hey, I went back to the store and found another awesome deal: a TAG Aquaracer mechanical chrono with a blue face. It is GORGEOUS. It's $1,995 list and I bought it for $795. Not much more than what an expensive rep costs. It's brand new, still had the plastic on it. It's model #CAF2112. Here it is on Tag's website: Tag Heuer Aquaracer Automatic Chronograph This is it, though... there isn't anything good left and I asked and they aren't getting any more shipments. Doesn't matter, I'm out of money, and besides, the Aquaracer and the tt quartz is enough for now. I will post some pictures as soon as I get a chance. Andrew seems to be the only one of the dealers that has a rep of the aquaracer (his is white or black face, not blue), but comparing the pics to the gen, unfortunately his isn't a very accurate rep, not to mention that the chrono is not functional.
  14. ok, thanks to the wonderful Lord & Taylor going out of business sale, I have acquired a brand new Tag Heuer Aquaracer automatic chrono (model #CAF2112.) Tag Heuer Aquaracer The movement is Tag Heuer Calibre 16. My question is this: I keep reading about how properly maintaining the Asian 7750 chrono movements entails getting them serviced immediately. Is it at all necessary or helpful to do anything similar with a gen watch? And if not, how long can it go before I have some kind of maintenance performed?
  15. Yesterday I was wearing my rep Breitling Navitimer. Today, I started with my gen Tag Heuer 2000 two-tone quartz, then switched to my brandy-new gen Tag Heuer Aquaracer automatic chrono. Yay for the going out of business sale at Lord & Taylor! They were practically giving these watches away.
  16. Here's my genuine Tag Heuer CN1151 quartz TT (Tag 2000 series). Local major department store is shutting down and had watches MAJORLY marked down... mostly things like Citizen (not that there's anything wrong with that) but also had about a dozen Tags including this watch which lists for $2,495 and is in stock at the local Bailey, Banks and Biddle for that price. The cheapest price I could find on the internet was about $1,650. I paid $990 for it. Yeah, yeah, it's a quartz movement but boy, it looks nice. And you can't beat 60% off list. Plus, I have 5 reps and it's nice to have at least one high-end gen. These photos don't really do it justice, the contrast between the SS and the gold doesn't show up all that well, and you don't really get the effect of the silver face, but it was the best I could do. This is one nice looking watch. I just wish it was a bit bigger. It's 39mm.
  17. 5 reps: 1556 plus one gen (Tag Heuer CN1151 TT chronograph)... are we counting that one too?
  18. 2002 Acura 3.2CL, silver with black interior. Looks nice but is an oven in the summertime.
  19. Good deal, but you don't have to pay the list price through an authorized dealer. I was looking at this exact watch at my local Breitling dealer (in a local mall) about two weeks ago and she offered to sell it to me for $5,064 (20% discount.) Not that I had $5K, but some day I might like to buy a gen. I wonder if it might not have been worth the extra $500 to have the manufacturer's warranty; I assume you don't?
  20. Hi, I am yet another newbie... I hope to find good accurate information about replicas here so I can expand my collection. Right now I have only a two-tone blue sub, which I love.. it looks great. I have a few watches on order from Silix-Prime. I'll probably be doing a lot of lurking, but feel free to contact me.
