  1. Hi everyone, I've acquired a couple of ol' school dials, but has some minor scuffs and scratches.. I'm lookin' to get the dial matte sprayed and lumed, but before that, I would like to get some opinions from our mates here. 1 of the dials has some paint scraped off at the 9 o'clock position. seem somewhat exaggerated by the high def. pics, but you can clearly see the scratch... since it doesn't full cover up when adapted to the case, it needs some work. do you think this can be fully covered out by the matte spray, or does it have go through some repair work prior to the spray job? Plus, is the matt spray mod accurate for a L swiss L 001B dial as well? (I have another 001 dial getting ready for a tritium lume mod w/ the T swiss T coversion, and gathered some info that the tritium dials certainly have a matt finish to it) Thanks, HKT
  2. wow The Zigmeister.. must have took a lot of vintage dials w/ tritium to scrape off! that is a very beautiful piece... Great work and the original owner must be extremely satisfied !
  3. Korean dealer located in GZ mainly selling to fellow korean natives. He has some great watches offered from time to time, such as the NOS 177F w/ correct caseback few days ago which was sold out in minutes.
  4. very very nice, pls show off your finalized franken when it's done
  5. need to get the whole gen bezel itself and take out the insert
  6. Hi, The pics below is a Fiddy I've aquired AS a EL version a while ago. I know the differences between a EL Fiddy and other std Fiddys... but the main problem is that I've never had a DSN or Angus Fiddy to compare in hand:lol: Here's some high resolution pics.... From info gathered in forums, I think its a V.2 EL version..from '06? Mineral Glass : looks like an 'opaque' mineral crystal(actually my first mineral rep.. I don't like it:() with better curve Hands : A Bit scuffed.. low cannon pin Movement : old Swiss ETA..wrong bridges.. CG : Pin flushed. Lever close to the case. Nice Fit. Lugs : The lugs looks OK but do they really stand out from the other Fiddys? Dial : The EL dial should be the ultimate as far as I know... but not sure if this IS actually an EL dial..plus it has lots of nicks on the dials.. looks like shattered glass hit the dials..maybe not.. the font looks bit grey as well.. 'Nough of the talk, here are the pics... Fiddy experts.. please chime in for details as well as future mods.. HKT Look at the nicks on the dials.. don't know what happened.. I know fiddy dials have a satin.. rather glossy finish.. but can this be restored?
  7. Checked dealer site.... stating full ceramic case with 'Ti crowns/pushers/caseback' BUT gotta see to believe eh?
  8. Looks like the ceramic ver. is out. w/ upgraded ceramic etc. Note : I have no relations to the regarding URL/dealer shown in the pics. Just a local dealer.
  9. very nice results as usual hope the original owner is satisfied:)

  12. thanks for the link toadtorrent. I would really want to get the gen hands(all of 'em) and do that mod that The Zigmeister is offering. Now if I can just find a modder to do these mods.
  13. Finally posting some pics of my modded SMP Chrono in progress First this started out as a std out-of-the-box rep. I was a bit anal about the datewheel, and was fortunate to pick up an ETA DW from chinkiechunkie. Aside from the DW issue, my SMP chrono had a crappy lume on the hands ; it looked like some chinese mate painted these in green. It was quite awful. So while swapping the DW, I requested some lume job to a watchsmith that really didn't know much about accurate superlume jobs(formula etc.), but had experience on simple lume work. Why not give it a go? Results. DW went OK, lume was actually nicely done, but.. The color didn't quite come out as I had expected... Gonna try again next time... what's the ratio of C1:C3 for this one? experts please chime in for info. my mods in the future. - relume the hands - gen bezel swap - perhaps relume dial as well.. - fix the color of hands to match markers...how should I do this - no crown issues issues for me at the moment - after all this is done and still think this is a keeper... go for Chieftang AR one small issue.. the small dings(sratches) on the chrono hands edges, it seems they become more & more visible every time the hands are pulled out by a presto.(or serviced I should say) Is this common for rep standards? Thanks for looking HKT
  14. @ lani, everytime I see your clean SMP Chrono blue dial, it makes me wanna AR mine as well... looks that your chrono hands have been modded to a different color to match the markers. Is it Ziggified? HKT
  15. OMG, when are we going to see the limit of your reviews? not only your previous 'perfect' reviews are getting 'more perfect', you're upgrading our knowledge as well! Thanks for your effort HKT

  18. HI RWG Okay, I promised some people here last week of taking some photos of my SMP Chrono in the works; unfortunately I forgot to bring my SMP Chrono with me to my crib where I work on the weekdays But don't bother, I started to make my homemade ; handmade of course, leather straps for my PAM11H. I had gathered lots of info on handling leather, stiching etc. for this small project aside from my major watch projects. Aside from the professional strapmakers here, I have noticed there weren't many posts on self-made straps, so as an amateur, I'd like to give it a go on my work for a start. When I have some spare time, I'll try to provide some info on how I made this; since I'm also a newbie as well, some elementary level advise might be helpful for some that are planning to make straps for themselves, and even for others in the future. Please note, I am novice in this field, so don't expect OEM quality strap photos This is my second finished product...and you wouldn't want to see the first one LOL Here we go Pics below are the back side of the strap. As this strap was my second attempt of building a strap, I tried using a stitching groover to scribe the leather where the stiching would be done. The deep scribe prevents the stitches to lay 'beneath the scribe' rather than 'on the surface' of the leather, which can lead the thread to irritate the skin, annoying for some people due to friction. The vintage look of the back side seemed quite nice when I was done with the strap... So why can't it be the front side? Let's turn around the strap for some vintage taste So, this was my first real looking strap, and it REVERSIBLE HKT
  19. This is top class service you're offering m8 Great Aussie! I miss my days in Sydney..some 20years ago I as well bought a new longer stem and cut it...used loctite to fasten...watchmaker did that
  20. SMP Chrono... inspiration from Toadtorrent and By-tor's fabulous reviews CG was initially worked by myself and final touch by watchmaker.
  21. I'm planning to post it... maybe tomorrow. Don't have 'em with me since I work somewhere else on the weekdays. One slight problem I'm facing right now... got them hands relumed (the rep hands lume were just terrible...think they painted them in green LOL) from a local watchsmith but it came out too dark
