  1. Hello and welcome, ok so the only advise is perhaps purchase a cheap set of casebAck removers off ebay and once you've removed the caseback then apply a SMALL amount of gasket grease(the stuff you use on the rubber waterproof gaskets) to the small ball bearings on the rotor. Try to remove any access grease with a bit of cloth. Bottom line I'm afraid is that you will never get rid of the clicking sound on this PARTICULAR  movement, my suggestion is try and find the model of your dreams with a better movement, if your a Rolex fan then the SH3135 is as quiet as you will get because the rotor is on a jewel rather than bearings as per gen.

    Hope that helps

    Cheers DH

  2. Morning guys

Certainly here in the UK I've seen a real decline in everyone wearing a watch. Sadly all of the small watch repair/makers shops that I used to love going into  have closed due to these guys retiring.

All we are left with in terms of 'real watched  is very high end glitzy jewellery shops selling the usual brands. Most younger people are definatly wearing smart watches or I see A lot of cheaper 'dress watches for going out in.

I think the other thing to consider is that when I first started to get into vintage watches I was buying old  5513 subs for 700 quid, you could buy old speedmasters for around 300 quid so perhaps the hobbies out priced it self??

  3. Morning guys, I was on the bridge at 4pm yesterday. Weirdly I was walking over thinking if someone came down the road in a car etc would I jump into the water.

Then last night we were getting into a cab on tower bridge and looked over to see police vans flying across the bridge responding to the incident.

We were in Borough market yesterday morning as well. Very surreal visit to somewhere I've known for years.

Now sat in a hotel 5 minutes around the corner

Also something to note regarding the V2 SA3135, and the latest Yuki 3135, the latter, Yuki recently posted about working alongside crownandskull.com to build the latest Yuki, unsure what exactly their relationship it, but crownandskulls website only has a landing page, but states.. EDIT, they appear to have added some content to their blog now..

    SO HOW MUCH?

A stock Yuki 3135 costs $385 + $7 shipping in the US. Worldwide shipping is available at cost (usually $20-$35).

Any idea what I've got here Micky? a V2(yuki) or standard SA3135?

  5. Great to hear, hopefully you can give us your opinion in terms od what's possible. Ideally looking for a donor for my 16800 build.

I think I'm right in saying based on the video that the hand rotation is as per gen? So in theory the movement had to be 3135 based?

  6. I'd be interested in some feedback on this as well. Is it just the usual sa3135 with engraved logo and number on the plate? Which version of the LV dial is this? I believe theyres 4 variants

The flat 4 insert is too early for the engraved rehaut models (i think)

DH I have used both the ST and TC midcases for 16800 builds. Personally I prefer the TC and send the case tobJMB to have the lugs drilled though. To me the ST lugs seem stubby.

    Hi Hugo

Nice to hear from you, yep my thoughts as well. Problem is TC no longer has any cases for sale. So I'm on the hunt.

  8. I was recently very fortunate to be able to buy an older MBW from a fellow member, best of all it came with the original hollow link 93150(got some small stamped WSO endlinks on the way). The previous owner had previously sent it to Pbdad for case mods and a beautiful vanilla re lume job  on the dial. But it needed a little TLC on arrival so off it went to Mr steel for a spa break in Finland. Full strip down of the movement with a replacement part required. Re polishing of the top hat plexi and a nice case clean up and a pressure test to confirm the Watch was water tight . As always a prompt professional job by M. Funnily enough I was never really a fan of these plexis back in the day when I wore a gen 5513. But it's funny what age can do and I can't imagine the 1680 with anything else but the slightly strange high top. Well it's now my daily beater and put into service like all of the original tool watch rolex's from the 1970s. When they made watches for men? who did dangerous things!

    Enjoy the pictures
