I would change a lot on all of them...
But I guess the 5512/5513 is best since you can put a Vietnam-dial straight in (correct size 26mm). If I've understood it correctly the 1680 and 1665-cases take 26 mm dials which is wrong, as correct is 26,5mm.
So a 5512/5513:
- Add a Vietnam-dial
- Add TC-hands
- Add a good Pearl and Yuki-insert
- Add an Athaya Crown+tube 700/702
- Some modding of the Crown guards
- Change to a Clarks/Sternkreutz or best ClassicWatchParts crystal...
Nice!

Great
For you which one is the best ootb between 5513, 5512, 1680 and 1665 ?
Over to the experts. I guess I'd keep it simple maybe a classic 5513. no need to change date wheels etc

I tried a gen 1570 with the new cartel case I got from Sead. The movement fits & the stem lines up but it sits too high for the case back to screw in. Maybe a 1520 might fit better.

Great to know Stonep, thanks for letting us know.

I know a few of the guys on here have picked up on the fact that the Cartel Boys introduced a revised case shape with better crown guards. These really are a fantastic base for franken projects. I wonder if a gen 1570 will fit?? I hope the price doesn't go uphttp://www.pf-818.com/index.php
Enjoy! DH

Looks like a service insert
I'd agree with that, still gen Rolex so I wouldn't think it would make a big difference to value etc. Beautiful iconic piece. Well done

Thanks Hugo
Greatly appreciated Mate

Just wanted to see if any of you would happen to have a spare rep 1680 caseback knocking about? I've emailed Ken at Rafflestime but i think he's out of them.
Appreciate your time guys

Old cartel model -
So CG's and case basically the Wrong shape, bezel font incorrect, dial is sadly 'all' wrong. Orange 24hr hand wrong profile
Sorry but I'd buy the latest Cartel white lume with the 'nearly' correct mk6 dial. Change the bezel for one of yuki's latest ones flat '4's and remove a lot of metal from the case. Have a look at my previous posts for all info regarding the 1655 model

Sadly I didn't even realise he was unwell, played an evil bastard superbly. VIP Alan

I would imagine any eta 7750 stem will fit the movement. Plenty on Ebay. The stem should screw out of the crown, i would very gently grip the stem in a pair of micro pliers and anti clock wise (i think) turn the crown. Good Luck with the fix!

second hand Obris Morgan Explorer, keep an eye over on WUS. Fantastic value for money and a bit more exclusive than a run of the mill high street brand

Just a quick heads up if anyone is dealing with Amanda, their website has changed to www.kuvarsit.watch

Ezio unfirtunately they are not mine and I only own 1 at the moment! I have owned over 25 and raced Astons as you know for some 15 years and previously won the Aston Championship.
The DB10 is effectively a rebodied Aston Martin V8 with a differnet body (uniquely designed for SPECTRE) and interior. Of the remaining 3 cars the first will be kept by AM, the second by EON Films and teh third will be auctioned next year for Charity so start saving :-)
Mike and my fellow members when you're in Blighty just say the word !

Did you watch the Paul Hollywood documentary last week? still on BBC website if you missed it

When they fix the dw to a correct one (currently I believe is for gold one) it will be perfect.
It just needs the correct white on black disc and yes i believe it would be very close to perfect. I'm so pleased, its off to Micky next week for the disc change and a full service then its going to be my daily beater

I saw that Hugo, you did a beautiful job on that, I actually think i saw your wifes watch before it arrived with you if you bought it from Andrew

Yep, I have the smallest girlie wrists going! Its strange because in the picture it still looks big on my wrist but its somehow perfect in size. The finish really is superb

Finally I own a Panerai that i can wear in comfort. Over the years I have tried with the 44mm Panerai's and sadly could never et used to the size. I'm a vintage Rolex guy so have always been used to their size. Well as soon as i saw that there was going to be a nice version of the 048 i took the plunge. No idea if this is a great rep in terms of how close to gen it is, but it feels beautifully finished and the contrast between the brushed and polihed parts of the case are amazing, hope i caught it in my pictures. I did buy a gen correct white on black date disc that needs installing as the one thats fitted is bugging the shit out of me. So in short if you've never considered a Panerai because of the size then i can strongly recommend this 40mm version.

Cornwall this morning, off for a surf soon

Not the most precise way but in order to reduce a dials diameter i have gently rotated the dial on its edge against fine grade wet and dry and you can achieve an even job. Cheap and effective if you have the patience

Hello...I am new to this site and ordering. I followed a link to TT from a list of approved sites on RWG.bz and it took me to trusty time website twgtwg dot com, but when I payed for the item on paypal it was sent to Wong Wei Yuan Dereke. I think I've been had.
I then got this email after I paid from trustytime at gmail dot com
"Dear customer
If you cannot access ttw888 dot com, please kindly use the new domain above to access. All databases are safe and intact and you can still login your account and check updates.Trusty Time Watches"
Your fine, thats the correct new domain name

Sadly guys anything which has China as the country of origin will be scanned more thoroughly and also i think the customs guys have cottoned onto what the package is likely to be be, so they either keep it for themselves or sell them on. I'm now doing more and more trans shipping on a daily basis for guys in the EU. If the package comes from the UK then they tend to just pass through without any issues. Same in Germany,Scandinavia etc
