  1. I would like to make a note about the crystals... The OFREI crystal has the bevel like the gen on the top. Its beautiful. On the other watch Im working on I am using a clark. Its half the price of OFREI but is missing that top bevel. A small thing, but for those of us that are perfection addicts it makes all the difference.
  2. Oh yeah that is way wrong. Get a new crown ... Beautiful watch btw!
  3. sounds like they made a mistake then. Write them and ask for a new crown. You should get one free.
  4. I had the same problem as BK. I will hopefully have a full writeup on euromariner fixes. I am working on two right now trying to get everything sparkling.
  5. About 10 years ago they did have lugholes, also the crystal wasnt engraved AKA a lot cheaper to make a "gen" sub. Not to mention the "class" associated with an older rolex.
  6. It is the C2 reference. Chris, it may also be beneficial to sand down the retaining ring about 1mm so inserts will fit. Like BK said they wont fit without this mod. If you trimmed the CGs too... jesus... that would be a dream come true!!!
  7. Im sure you checked and made sure that the dial didnt say tudor? Rolex and Tudor were very involved with one another back in the day so it is a very sought after watch. Pictures will be a great help!
  8. Hand winding can break the movement, especially if its Asian. The Zigmeister said it, making it a commandment
  9. Brom, Yours will be coming shortly. Shundi, HAVE FUN
  10. No, It is a swiss movement. Its is not a ROLEX movement however. Its a 2826 some say its even better then the rolex 3135, but thats personal preference. Anyway it sweeps just like the gen.
  11. 2007 z serial? If thats right then you will get the newer watch without the engravings? Thats the best deal you can ask for!!!!!
  12. Dont wind it by hand! Jesus! If you wear it it should keep running
  13. Its the same... 2.5x The constuction is much closer to gen with the gasket though
  14. Should be here within a day or two. I will let you guys know!
  15. Let me start off with this is all between BK and myself. All credit goes to him. Thank you BK. Please also note these are his words not mine. The reason why your insert is not going in is because... The retaining ring, a big one, that holds down the whole gasket, which is also the foundation of the bezel assembly, is blocking the insert from going in. The part of it that wraps around the crystal is too high, in relation to the bezel. The factory literally broke the gasket to fit in an older model crystal. If you look at the attached picture you will see. What we all have is an MBW crystal which is not the same as a gen crystal. The factory didnt want to make new crystals so they intentionally broke the gasket to get the crystal to fit. So the fix is to grind down that part of the retaining ring. It's safe to do so because the retaining ring is quite thick and tall. That little bit (less than 1mm) being gone won't weaken the structural integrity. With that shaved off a little, the insert has a chance to go in all the way in. It just snaps in without glue and is nicely recessed. On another note: I (blue) HIGHLY recommend getting a new crystal and gasket. As walking around with a broken gasket on your wrist is just asking for trouble.
  16. Pete! Many of us have been having that problem. See my thread on it "Cant get that Euromariner Insert In?" Which will be up in the coming minutes! EDIT: See here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=83616
  17. Did you end up sanding the gasket to get that insert in? Also it might be just me but that crystal looks "domed" like it is distorting the dial face.
  18. Tor, You definitely need some type of dial replacement. Your watch screams rep right now.
  19. So you just picked up your new watch. You got swiss ETA right? That movement will last forever, might need a cleaning (local watchsmith can do it for 20-30 dollars if you find a good one). Ok so now your set... watch looks great, has a nice feel... man... your wearing a rolex! Side by side though you notice a few differences. Here are a few steps to help you reach that perfect sub! Step 1: Crown Guards This is a common mod. So common in fact I believe its becoming a little dated. Your new watch should have pretty decent CGs and unless you are a complete perfection freak, you will fool everyone. Step 2: Bezel Insert YOU NEED THIS MOD. Period... Your best bet would be a genuine insert found via e-bay. You you dont want to blow that much BK has a great suggestion on mixing a watchmaterial pearl with a jewerlyoutlet insert. The pearl can be found via http://www.watchmaterial.com/ make sure you get the right one for your model! The insert is found via ebay... via seller Jeweleryoutlet555. www.ebay.com NOTE: There is some issues with the crystal hitting the insert at the moment. I will update as needed! Step 3: Crystal They are getting damn close with the etching. Still next to a gen when looked at closely you can see the difference. This may also be a mandatory mod if you replace the insert. I purchase my crystal at www.ofrei.com. Quality is said to be excellent and there is no etching. For the 16610 the number is Make sure that you purchase an accompanying gasket!!!! Step 4: Relume Your replica comes with a very inexpensive lume on it that will only last a few minutes. Real rolex's use luminova lume. It will be at your descretion to find out which lume you want to use on your watch (submariners use C3). But with luminova your lume will glow for hours! Should you do all three steps... your watch will be indistinguishable to the naked eye and will require the caseback to be removed to verify its a replica. Pretty sweet huh? -Shawn P.S. Will edit if people have additional comments.
  20. Most definitely a new crystal too... Let me help you... http://www.ofrei.com/page419.html#5801 you will need a new gasket too which can be found on the same site. Your watch is a 16610... As for bezel pearls. Read BK's watch garage about the watchmaterial pearl with the jeweleryoutlet insert. watchmaterial can be found via google and jeweleryoutlet555 is the username on ebay. As for your crownguards... I would have to see them. They have come a long way in the past years and it is still common to "want to trim them" even if they are a close match.
  21. I have heard that a dremel is best if you have one. If not find a friend! Hand sanding will take forever! There is a tutorial on how to do it somewhere around this forum.
  22. You most certainly did the right thing. Integrity is priceless.
  23. I have a few if anyone wants some... awarded in level of status (supporter/platinum/mod/etc)
  24. High, On my euromariner the crown is very small as well, the problem is that it is still too big. I went to ben bridges today and although they are close the gen watch is certainly different. What also has be concerned is the etching of ROLEXROLEXROLEX... its not even close! I may have to sand mine out... In the terms of crystals... I am guessing that ofrei was the best/closest so I made a purchase... I will let you all know how it turns out as I have the same shitty construction with the gasket as everyone else seems to be experiencing. -Shawn
