  1. You are asking what the difference is for a swiss ETA? One word... Reliability!
  2. Viz, Maybe like $10 if that. Its a piece of cake to do. All kidding aside if youre comfortable sending a member the watch, just about anyone will do it for you.
  3. Same as pug. Youre out of luck.
  4. Quick! Get out while you still can!
  5. The bezel construction on the Euromariner is terrible. I stopped recording pictures because I got so frustrated. Had to buy an entire aftermarket assembly. As far as inserts the pearl came out great. Sending it to Kent parks of everestwatchworks to have both watches relumed.
  6. A HA! I have the answer~ I have bought from BOTH sellers. Helflands is just a reseller of wholesale (buys wholesales item then resells it for more go figure). They are both nice inserts and have TERRIBLE pearls. My recommendation is this. Buy the insert from jewelryoutlet555 (Its like 10 bucks) Then get the pearl from watchmaterial http://www.watchmaterial.com/viewitem.asp?idProduct=1801 BAM youre set. Get that material pearl relumed... no one can tell the difference
  7. definitely something wrong there...
  8. just buy an ETA n00b mariner for the movement.
  9. You assume correctly... until we can find something better.
  10. After looking at the Quantium of Solace SMP Omega (42.5mm diamater)... I just measured my wrist... a scrawny 5.75" too small for a watch that size IMHO. I'm curious what everyone's sizes are on the board.
  11. Wont be any on the bay... at least for the newer movements. Remember you have to find the hands by the movement measurements for hands. If its ETA some tudor hands might work.
  12. Any replica friendly watchmaker will be able to fix it for $5... if they charge you anything. Call around your local area and see.
  13. Yes it certainly is a serious suggestion. Acetone will not remove the crystal just the glue that holds the cyclops to it (as long as its a sapphire crystal). As by-tor said the no date reps are crap. That being said I believe the best suggestion for the original poster would be to remove the cyclops. Modding gen rolexs is never recommended but is more common then you think. That being said while it may be rare, it is entirely plausible for a submariner to not have a cyclops if the owner did not want one. Its up to the author of the thread, but that's what I would do. Take it or leave it.
  14. Franken - A rep fitted with genuine parts.
  15. Alright guys, Question on the submariner rehut shine. Right now I am in the same situation as frank. I removed the ROLEXROLEXROLEX with a dremel... now the inside is TOO shiny. What I need is something similar to what he used. I have asked both frank and chefcook about it and now need your help. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/piz...nn/DSC02317.jpg It looks to be a 3M superfine pad, but I cannot find them anywhere. I asked Chefcook and this is what he told me "should be 3M 216U 60549 pads (grey foam). I used grain 600 on a polished surface and had good results with it." I tried 600 grain sandpaper... NOT good results. At least not the ones I am looking for. I am running out of options here and am not sure what the next step is! Does anyone know where I can pick this up or pick up something similar? -Shawn
  16. Just use some acetone and remove the cyclops on your sub... Best of both worlds!
  17. Sellers cant give negative feedback anymore... So go for it! I just received the wrong bezel insert from him, another insert wouldnt fit the watch.
  18. Wait for the WM9... Its looking gorgeous!
  19. Pictures please... It sounds like a problem with the gasket and not the crystal. Did you use a crystal press to put it back in?
  20. Hey RWG, So I have a general question. I want to relume the submariner pearl. I am told that there is a sapphire glass on the outside. What is the best way to get this off? Has anyone done this before. Help apprecaited! Thanks, Shawn
  21. Involt, My sincerest apologies. You are correct. I myself learned something today. I was not aware that the pearl was coated in sapphire. Interesting . I think between the two of us ken should know what to do! -Shawn
  22. Chris, Two reccomendations for the v5... 1. Instead of a watchmaterial pearl, change the inserts and apply superluminova yourself. It will look gen and will cost you less. 2. CGs CGs CGs... Thanks again for working to make the best sub rep! -Shawn
  23. I believe you are mistaken. Sapphire is what the crystal is made out of. Pink sapphire to be exact. The "pearl" on the sea-dweller and submariner is made with super-luminova. The watch material pearl doesnt come close BTW to a real SL lume. If you want "gen" lume, your best bet is to get someone to relume it. -Shawn
