Nice to see Omega represented so well today… Probably this for the rest of the week.

Maybe the better title for this thread is “best conversation starter” because a fat roll of $100’s is a magnet if you’re at an Atlantic City bar. I have had guys comment on my watches several times, and mostly when it’s a Rolex. I have only had one woman comment on any of my watches, and it was the 42mm PO on orange croc… this watch commands attention, but not one guy has ever commented on it. I have a theory, maybe it’s because the Omega isn’t as well known and the guys just look at it as another Seiko, Fossil, or whatever. But the woman noticed the watch because it is flashy and in your face, not because it’s an expensive watch. So Jay probably has the right idea with the bling. This girl was smokin hot too, but crazy as a shithouse rat… I guess that could have something to do with it.

For $6 you can’t go wrong… I have bought music I hated for more than that. If you want a very nice inexpensive set, offshore has one. I’ll try and find the link.

+1... My wife is already flipping out, I bought 3 watches in the last 2 months and traded 2. I’ll have to keep things on the DL for a few weeks.

My list of wanted watches is at 26 as I write this, and I am sure it will change before the end of the year. Right now my list for this year will be between three and six… one gen, one franken project build, and at least one rep. I am not a fan of the 6263 Newman Daytona, but the 6265 speaks to me… that’s why the VJ72 6265 is on my list and will take quite some time (and money) to build right. 1. Ulysse Nardin Blue Seal I am working on a deal for a gen Explorer II white dial and if that happens I will buy an Explorer II rep, but after BY-Tors review of the Explorer II… I won’t be able to live with the rep dial. 4. Rolex Explorer II white gen dial I have had the Rolex TT Sub on my list since Nov of 2008 and I am hopping this is the year for that gen. 5. Rolex Blue TT Submariner 16613 I will probably get the New BK Subwhen it comes out, but the Rolex Sub has never been on my list. It will make a great beater, but I see too many (real life) douche bags who think their somebody because they have a black Sub. And that’s my Buy List for 2011 Happy New Year Joe

I haven’t seen one of the cronos live, and I guess I expected it to be a little larger. It looks nice, but you are right… you need something a little larger when you start adding complications. I really just like the looks of these watches, can’t wait to get mine back. I stopped in to visit it last week and my watchmaker said its half done…

I had this on this morning. But changed to this when I got home. I got the nato for my dynamic, but accidently ordered the wrong size… so I thought I would try it on the GMT, and kind of like it.

I agree. The green crystal milgauss is on my list, although I haven't seen one live yet.

That’s about right, most of the older omegas can be had for under a thousand. Unless you are talking about full gold or multiple complications. But that’s a nice one, good find.

I use a similar method on my GMT. Only I use tape on the bezel and case, and I use the can opener tool out of my Swiss army knife (very similar to a case knife). It wouldn’t work on my Chase Durer, and I would never attempt it on my gen Omega.

I would stick with a seconds at 9 model. I don’t know about the sec at 3 but the sec at 6 has posed problems with the Daytona. It may not be an issue, and maybe someone who has one can elaborate. But for your first rep I would stick with something with the least chance of dying in the first 3 months.

I like it... just place the current paper dial over some poster board and use an Exacto to cut it out. If you want to get real creative you could mount electroluminescents underneath for the lume.

Good luck on your journey, I started collecting 3 years ago and it took a long time to absorb enough information to feel knowledgeable. Maybe someone who has had the experience can elaborate, but I believe that watches confiscated by customs are usually reshipped. Another common misconception is that quick shipment in the rep world is the same as the rest of the world… it is not. The quickest shipment I think I have experienced was just over a week, and recently I ordered one that took 2 months. Be patient, and doing your homework will help.
