Absolutely - I also drive an A8 and have the same reaction from my colleagues. It's just a matter of choices and priorities.

I'm also in the UK - Surrey but speeds here are good. We're in a village location but we're lucky in that the local exchange is very close and it's ADSL2 enabled, so we've got 20mbit down, 2.5mbit up. Paying just under £20 per month (discount deal with our cellphone provider). At work it's a lot slower, around 4mbit down / 800k up (fastest we can get - it's rather out in the boonies).

LMAO! hmm - a tad OTT, don'tcha think?

Horse puckey. You need to understand the difference between real-life in the wild attacks and theoretical weaknesses which have yet to be exploited in the wild. I don't care what platform you run, use ANY browser rather than IE (any version). You WILL be safer. Period.

Damn Robbie - I am so sorry to hear that. Having had long spells of serious illness myself, I know how difficult it can be to maintain normal human contact. Take care of yourself - I hope that things improve for you before too long

The other option is to ask Robert if he'll send from the UK. I dont know whether he still offers that service, but he's done it before...

Anyone know the type of this Gucci and is there a rep of it?
greg_r replied to wimpie007's topic in Other Brands Area
It's a Gucci Ladies Marina Bracelet - sells for around £800 in the UK, which certainly ain't cheap (at least, not for a quartz fashion watch). I don't think this particular model is repped but there are several other Gucci models readily available from the recommended dealers - prices start from around $70. -
Happy birthday, mate! Enjoy your boozy weekend

Best source for sterile "modern" Radiomir and 1950 cases?
greg_r replied to Neuuubeh's topic in The Panerai Area
Getat;s radiomir case is excellent, but I'd go to Jackson Tse for the Fiddy case - getats version has a 217 CG, which is the wrong way round for a Fiddy. -
I make my living as head of I.T. for a charity. I've been supporting Windows PCs since around 1991 and know Windows pretty much inside out. All the machines I use personally - both at work and at home are Macs and have been for years. You may derive what you like from that fact

Over at RWG1.1 I've recently installed a script that prompts IE6 users to update their browser when they hit the site - it looks like the standard IE information bar and is both unobtrusive and effective. It seemed like a good idea as we're planning an upgrade to iPB 3 ourselves sometime in the next few months. You can find the code at: http://ie6update.com/

As I've said elsewhere - you've found some great watches there, John.. Certainly a much better buy than a lot of cheaper reps

anyone know how to fit dsn ti case with steel bracelet
greg_r replied to dcap04's topic in The Panerai Area
Doesn't apply to reps. Doesn't necessarily apply to gens either as third-party adapters are available to fit the gen bracelet and rep bracelets (which are designed to fit the regular lugs) fit the majority of leather strap models. There are a few rep cases around that can't handle the standard rep bracelet, though, and it looks like the OP's watch is one of 'em. Anyhow, a steel bracelet will look like ass on a Ti case - I'd recommend staying with the strap. -
Stan's a trusted dealer over at 1.1 too. One of the very best. Great to see that the good folks here will get a chance to buy from him too

Many years ago a pal of mine had a Countach replica he built from a kit - fibreglass body, spaceframe chassis, Jag V12 engine and mostly Jag running gear. Looked exactly like the real thing even on a side-by-side comparison. It went like stink, handled superbly but, oddly, was more comfortable to drive than the real thing (the original car was a nightmare).

The homages are better for the most part - the best of them being the hand-wind models (which also applies to the majority of the branded reps, too). There are some good budget PAMs around, but they're seriously outnumbered by the crappy ones. T4D/PWC are the people to go to if you want a good budget PAM and aren't sure of what you're looking at elsewhere...
-
Really nice, John - I think I'm going to have to spring a few bucks over there - I have my eye on the PVD 217 homage... (amongst other things).
-
Depends on your price range. DSN for the high-end stuff. Time4Direct (dealer at RWI and Repgeek) for a mixture of good cheaper Panerai models and the occasional high-quality modded version.
-
Check out Narikaa and Precious Time too - both in the UK and both very quick (provided they have what you want in stock).
-
Actually, in the UK you don't have to worry about customs at all - never a problem unless you're planning to bring 'em in by the boatload . Stick with the recommended dealers here and on the other forums and you shouldn't go far wrong.

Gorgeous Not a big fan of Breitling but the SOH range are tops. White face on mesh bracelet for me too, please
-
I'd only buy the gen if it was something I really liked - or knew for sure I could turn around fast at a profit. Watches ain't usually much of an investment..
-
Which Pam model is this, they all look the same...
greg_r replied to Dave123's topic in The Panerai Area
I was thinking the same thing about Breitling - I know this is your kinda thing, Dave.... -
I picked up a 40-capacity Modalo box last year from a seller in Germany. Beautiful thing it is, too - haven't got the URL handy, but it's on the Dealer list back over at RWG1 (I know you're a member there, too). Another good source is AceTimer.
