  1. I seem to recall a watch thread around here somewhere....
  2. Man, I'm not normally into U-boats, but I love this thing: 52mm $105. On offer at the moment from Tonyxkf Way too big for me, dammit - but it's gorgeous (even if it IS quartz...).
  3. The crown and crown guard are what really jump out at me, but the dial's pretty nasty too. I have one very similar picked up a while back as part of a deal I did for some Montblanc pens and a few rep straps. When I tell you that the watch wound up costing me less than $10 and I still think I was shafted you'll realise why I'd be inclined to give it a miss Seriously, the only part of it worth having was a rather nice tang buckle on the strap....
  4. Yeah, day and month are what they usually do with faux chronos when the watch is 21j powered. There's a quartz version too, and I've been kinda torn between them. I don't want to go the whole hog for the A7750 version - at least not at present. Oh, and rubbers are for use with girls, Oscar - try to remember that
  5. T4D (aka Robert from PrestigeWatchCo) has a refreshing tendency to give direct answers to direct questions. I know he's been accused of 'sharp practices' by some, but he was refreshingly up front with me when I had a conversation with him about PAM reps recently - which is why I wound up placing a trial order with him. Interesting response to the question
  6. He's got a whole bunch of 'em. This is the link to his Tag SLR section: http://www.houseofsouvenirs.com/tagheuermercedesbenz.htm This is the one I'm thinking of buying (warning, bracelet alert! ) http://www.houseofsouvenirs.com/tagheuer/tagheuer_426.htm
  7. As far as the mothership goes, the CPU error got to the point where the web hosts suspended the account. It appears that Blade must have come down from his mountain as the account was then re-enabled, but the forum has been down ever since "trying to fix cpu exceeded errors". Gawd knows how long it'll be down - or even if it'll come back up again. Dave123 pops in occasionally, but seems to spend most of his time on RG these days. We've heard from Jameo and iabounty - they know where we are, but haven't dropped by as yet, sadly JohnG's done a sterling job of organising the unofficial takeover of the 'bin' here, and yes, he sent TTK some money. We're all in shock
  8. LOL - I got two on the way already! Currently trying to resist the black AP posted earlier, a cheap but good-looking BR01 that Tony's listing (I really want a 'best' quality version - must resist the cheapie...) and a Tag SLR at Lawrence's.... Then there's that 'best' PAM113 on a bracelet that Tony has on his web site... aaaaargh!
  9. BME! Good to see ya! I think it was a comment similar to yours which got me banned, actually
  10. Yes, they do - especially when you look closely - although if you're very selective about the cheapies you buy, they can be a lot better than one might expect. It also doesn't change the fact that I enjoy them I wear my higher-quality reps around 70% of the time, but I still enjoy wearing/collecting the cheapies. There's a couple I have that I wouldn't buy again, but most of 'em have been well worth collecting.
  11. Yep, I see you've found the AP. Tempted to pick one up myself - I like the look of the quartz ROO I already have. I'd like an upmarket rep of this watch, but I'm not willing to pay the prices that the current secs@12 models are going for. Yes, that's a Fiddy - I know it lacks the elegance of the 44mm PAMs but it's one of those watches that I've wanted ever since I first saw one. At 47mm, though, I'm not sure how much wrist time it's gonna get - it's a tad big for me - so I didn't want to spend a fortune on it. I may upgrade later if I decide I'm comfortable with the size.
  12. Oh, and I think I finally found a cheap PAM worth buying - I have one of these on order from PWC at $99:
  13. How about this one - another quartz AP from Mark Wang on CQout - real nice looking, though
  14. OK - the AP skeleton you should know about as I've got the SS version, which I reported on recently. A very nice watch indeed for the money - I'm very pleased with mine. The SLR is quartz and Lawrence appears to have something that looks better in a 21J The BR power reserve models look crappy, but the others are tempting. The SOH is basically the same watch as I've just ordered but in a different colour combo - I'll report back when I get mine, but it looks like a lot of watch for not much dough. The others I don't know much about other than having seen them in the listing
  15. I've never actually managed to read one of F5's posts.... that avatar is kinda hypnotic. Intentional maybe?
  16. LMAO! I guess you didn't spend any time on RWG1 before it went down - most topics wind up like this :D
  17. Tony's CQout shopfront is at: http://www.cqout.com/shopfront.asp?l=tonyxkf His web site is: http://watcheden.com You should already have jiuli9's CQout shopfront if you've just bought that Tag.... http://www.cqout.com/list.asp?seller=jiuli9
  18. Worth checking out tonyxkf's CQout shopfront too, as he has some good deals. I've bought a few watches from jiuli9, though - mostly for family/friends - and haven't had a problem yet
  19. So did I. A ban on my I.P. no less. Odd, that..... There are, of course, ways around IP bans. I've been on there a couple of times since John reminded me of its continued existence. Mind you, I don't know why I bothered, it's about as interesting as watching paint dry....
  20. This is another one that looks good for the money (
