  1. Yeah. right. That would be half the forum gone :-)

Well, 12.42% of it anyway. Bah, its a hobby. Gets a bit lonley just me and the bots tho. There's all ways guests reading, just not posting. I will persevere and it'l get there eventualy.

BTW, has anyone noticed how the RWG1 posts dominate the "recent posts" list on the index page here? 3 out of the 5 ATM.

    Col.

Every time I show up, the only 'guest' is the google bot.....

  2. One cheapie I'm on the lookout for is a Tag SLR. Lawrence does a 21J-powered one on a bracelet that looks the business for $80-90ish, and there are several quartz reps around too. Very tempted - might be my next buy after the PAM127 I have on order gets here...

  3. The Tag Grand Carrera at the top of your post is indeed automatic - it looks identical to one a friend picked up for me in Shenzhen a few months back. Was wearing it yesterday - not the highest quality rep (the GMT function doesn't work - it just shows the same hour as the hands), but good-looking for a cheapie and on a surprisingly good strap. Mine keeps excellent time, but the power reserve isn't great.

The BR02 will only take a BR strap. The rubber strap on mine is actually very good, but it was quite a bit more expensive than the one you've pictured (mine has a high-beat movement - another Shenzhen special), so I can't vouch for the quality there. Leather straps are available, but you'd have to buy gen or from somewhere like altstraps, so the strap is gonna cost more than the watch ;) I seem to recall seeing 02s on leather somewhere - possibly Lawrence. Might be worth a look.

From the watches I've bought and/or seen, the low end for something reasonably decent is $50, and only a fairly tiny percentage of those are actually worth having. Ironically, I'm often more careful with what I buy when spending $50 than I am when spending $300, as a lot of the really cheap stuff is just street junk.

By the way - cheap autos with faux chronos can be unreliable as the extra complications to power the subdials (usually hour and day) are not terribly well made - I'd stick to non-chronos at that kinda price unless you're buying *cough* quartz *cough*.

  4. With all these older luxury cars around for no money, there is nooooo reason to drive a citroen berlingo or such. :D

    Amen to that.

Especially if you dont live in denmark, where prices are insane on cars.

Yeah, I know - I used to spend quite a bit of time in Denmark (business) way back when... I dunno how you guys manage to afford decent machinery over there...

Get one with good service history, and they will outlast you.

classy all week, and fun for the weekend. ;) ;)

Like I said - a tempting idea. I was planning to buy one good car (still tempted by the AMG E55 I was talking about in the other car thread), but two (one expensive for weekends, one cheap for a 'beater) sounds like fun :D

  5. Sorry, but i didnt have a picture of my e32, so i "stole" this one. Im in dk, so the steering wheel is on the wrong side in the picture.

Actually i was trying a 95 xj6. It was a superb car. very nice ride and handling. All services where ok, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Im still thinking about it, because i want it as a daily driver. Just want to be sure that its reliable.

Ya know, that's a very tempting idea. An cheap old Jag (or even a Merc) as a 'daily beater' and something fancier for the weekends. Just like watches.

You've got me thinking now, rkdk...
