  1. Sorry my e-mail was so obtuse. The Speedmaster broad arrow is not $800 - just as you are pointing out. The old moon speedmasters can probably be gotten for $800-$1000. That is why I am so interested in the BA. It goes for about $4K

    Sorry for the confusion.

DO you know if the case is the same size as the real one, and that the subdials are the just in the wrong place due to the 7753 asian rep movement inside?

  2. Hey Omega experts - I have gotten the Speedmaster bug. I know that you can probably get a real one for about $800 online - the one that I am interested in is the 3551.50. THis is not generally available.

The rep and the gen seem to be pretty close - except for the subdial spacing. Also - unline the other speedmasters - the sec's are in the right place.

Has anyone done a side by side review? Case sizes, etc? Opinions? I know about by-tor Omega reviews - but i was wondering if there have been any updates....

  3. Ubi,

That is crazy outstanding. Important lesson - though - if I attempt the same thing - I have to make sure to get appropriate hands for the movement and of course the watch. That could pose a problem. I will do more research and post some more questions.

I am very interested in getting some Asian 21J GMT and replacing it with a 2893 GMT. I think that the end product will more more to reality. Looking to do this on some Omega model......

    Thanks for the great post.

  4. Ok experts - some help please. I bought a watch with the "Asian 21J" in it. Is it generally possible to swap this with an appropriate ETA movement if one could be sourced? I guess another way of asking is - when our dealers sell us the watches with various possible movements, are the cases simply the same (perhaps with different holders on the inside?)

  5. I bought a very cheap watch band from them. They send the wrong one - and it took 2 e-mail threats for them to agree to take the onw back and send a new one. I had to pay the postage to send the wrong one back - but they did finally send the one that I wanted. I was thinking about buying something else fro them - nothing as important as a movement - but I was not sure if I wanted to try my luck again. I wish there was another place online for some of the stuff that I want.

  6. The Chrono Avenger was still $2400. Just cuz it was at Costco didn't mean it was cheap. Also - I asked how many they had in stock. They only had 2 - and they do not get re-inventoried. So after they are gone - there gone. I still love em.

Breitlings are my favorite reps by far. Nothing like them in my opinion. And I think the chrono avenger is a better looking rep than the seawolf, although the seawolf aint to shabby.

(I am actually saddened that they are being sold at costco!! Say it aint so...)

  7. Hey - that is pretty good thinking. I had not thought of the whole swaperoo. Perhaps the giveaway - was simply the fact that the marker fell off at all. I mean - what is the likelyhood of that in a gen? Probably never.

    Pretty smart watchmaker.

He was protecting himself. It isn't unconceivable that someone might take a rep in for service, then when they went to pick it up, claim that the store had switched a rep for their genuine.

As to being able to spot a modded rep, the man is a watchmaker after all. If he couldn't tell the difference, I wouldn't let him work on one of my watches.

    Bill.

  8. IMO, the logo is the least of the worries--I'll pay all my RWG cash to anyone who will measure their 4th gen w/o the crown. If the watch is 42.5 w/o crown, and if you succesfully buy from paul you can have the PO w/ an OEM dial for 80 bucks more than buying just the rep from andrew. If the watch is too small it excludes any possibility for mods except for hand, crown, and He valve, all of which are pretty good on the rep.

I'll pull the trigger on the PO in half a second when they put out a corectly sized case w/ the he valve in the right place.

Can't Paul just measure it and get back to you ??

  9. So I am strolling through the Costco to get some frozen chicken - and I stop by the Jewelery counter because there is always 1 super high end watch there. Lo and behold - it is the Breitling Chrono Avenger - Black Dial. The same model rep watch I also happened to have on my wrist! Amazing. So I spend a good 10 minutes examining it through the glass and then could not stand it. So I finally found someone to open the case so i could examine it in person. Here are my thoughts:

    1. The Rep is remarkably close. Same size, same metal color, etc.

    2. The dial needs just a little work. The 5 minute lum markers are too small on the rep and the date window is too small.

    3. The date wheel font is wrong - so even if you put in a new dial - you will need to replace the date font. The current date cutout is not large enough anyway - so replacing the dial would help. Not sure if it could even be done - as have not found anyone who has done that yet.

    4. The bracelet is "correct" but the quality on the rep is off. It is just not as tight - especially the clasp and the engravings are not as deep and clean.

All in all - though - I was pretty happy with the rep gen comparison.

Sorry I could not show any pictures. Breit's do not get enough attention on this board.

  10. Even though I really enjoy the Reps - I rarely wear them to work. I usually wear my gen Omega - which no one comments on. There are lots of high end brands in my office -so i guess people are accustomed to it. In fact - the only watch i ever bothered to comment to someone on was a Sunnto diving watch - which looked pretty cool. That is probably because i am a diver though.

  11. That chrono with the orange pushers is killer. I am trying to determine if our rep 7750's will actually work in there based on the sub-dial spacing. Anyone else have an opinion. Looks a little off from the typical 7750. As least the secs are at 9 though

  12. PMed him inquiry about the PO dials - he wrote back stating that he does not have any at the present moment.

Contacted OFrei and they have the orange dial just under $200. Not worth it in my opinion.

Therefore, I may just go ahead and replace the hands and maybe the clasp as well.

Does anyone know if someone on the board had put a gen dial in any of the 4th gen PO's?
