As requested I will shown which crowns go with each tube. I am sure there are models that each crown will work for that I left out but for now I am only using 5512/3 and 1665 as examples of use. Hopes this answers any questions and as always please correct me if anything is incorrect. 24-700 This crown as you will see in the photos has no triplock "dots". This crown to my knowledge is for any of the earlier subs. 5512/5513 24-702 This crown is the first version of the triplock that we all know being used on current subs. This crown is essentially not as wide and does not have as large a space between the crown and the "dots" on the face of the crown. This would be used on a 1665 and also later 5512/5513. 24-703 Lastly, this crown is what we all see on the reps. It is the on the 16610 subs and can also be seen on vintage rollies as it is used as a service replacment. So while the 24-702 is actually correct for an earlier build this one could also be used. You will notice the larger spacing below the crown on the face verses the 702 pictured above.

A little while ago I had asked a question about vintage tube and crown combinations. I appreciate all the help I got and have now aquired what I was looking for. Since I have all three tubes I mentioned I thought I would post a few side by side comparison photos.

Based on a good amount of replies on the dials being replica I have decided to contact the buyer and pass on the purchase. He was gracious enough to refund my payment.

Thanks for the link omgiv. I saw the one where the dots were referred to as donuts. Its nice to read people like steve m and mark g chime in that they have seen them and they are legit albeit pretty dart. I have also found where they are referred to as a 24-701 and possibly the first variant triplock. If the tube is bad I have a rep tube for a 24-702.

I just picked up two gen tritium 16600 dials. The first is a gloss dial with no surrounds. The second is a matte dial with wg surrounds and is in the worse shape of the two. I was wondering if anyone can reccomend where/who I could get them refinished.

I just picked up what I think is a pretty cool buy on ebay. I got a lot of parts that came off of a late 70's sea dewller. The lot came with the original 24-702 crown & tube along with its T-39 Crystal. I have only seen this kind of crown one other time. This 702 with gen tube goes with the other gen 24-702 crown and rep tube I have. Any info on this crown is greatly appreciated.

So I am trying to build a 1675 using a gen case and dial that I picked up. I have run into a problem, the supplier that I used for the zodiac 75b movement sent me a zodiac 86 instead and now says they do not have a 75b. I had purchased a gen gmt hand and gen silver date wheel that I was planning on using with the 75b but since it looks like I will not be able to source one I have wasted a good amount of money on those parts. I am hoping that someone here can point me in the right direction on where I can get a low beat gmt movement that will work with the case so that I can get this project completed. All the parts are with pbdad now so hopefully I can sort this out quickly. Thanks Joe

I recently got a SSD V2 and want to do some mods. I have a gen 24-703 crown, tube, and a bk overlay I want to install. I would also like to get the crown guards done. I had thought of having the lugs drilled, installing old tritium dial and transforming it into a 16660 but I don't want all my rolexs to be vintage. I would actually like one to glow in the dark so I am gonna stick with a 16600 luminova model. I need some advice on upgrading the dial and insert. I would love to go gen but right now funds are low due to having alot invested in a few other Frankens. My question is, who/where to get an aftermarket dial and insert that is closer to gen than the stock one used on the ssd v2. Also, is there anything else that I should consider doing. Thanks Joe

Thanks blix and Ubi, that helps alot. It also means that I am no closer to getting a crown and tube set for a 5512 and 1665 build, lol. I have a yuki 24-7000-0 tube on the way. There are 24-700 crowns on ebay that I can buy and use this combo on the 5512. That still leaves me with finding a 24-7020-0 for the 24-702 triplock crown I have and am wanting to use on a 1665 GW.

Are you certain that the insert is for a 16600 and 16610? I have the understanding that the sub and ssd inserts are different. Please someone correct me if I am wrong as I am searching for a 16600 gen insert myself and if they sub and ssd are the same it would make my search easier.

I would appreciate it if someone could help clarify the vintage crown and tubes available. I have an older 24-702 slim crown and I just purchased a 24-700 tube from Yuki with the hope that it will work. If not is the 24-700 tube the one for the crown that does not have any dots on it? Any insight on where to get a tube for a 24-702 if the 24-700 will not work? Is the no dot crown correct on 5512/3 models? Thanks Joe

I had asked for a picture with the date written on a piece of paper like was suggested and the email correspondence ended. I am sure this is a scam. Oh well it was fun while it lasted. Oh and the marks on the bezel should be able to be seen in the pic of it in the box. I am thinking two different watches.

Seller is acting strange about sending pic with date. New it was to good to be true lol

Here are some more pics that the seller just sent me. She claims that the watch is her fathers and she is not comfortable removing the bracelet or caseback. She also says that the watch does come with the original box and paperwork. She is suggesting we use a payment and shipping company called freightco. Is anyone familiar with this sercvice as I do not know how it functions. I asked her to send a pic with todays date on a piece of paper shown with watch.

I just found a Rolex 5512 for sale for only 1700. The owner says it is still available and I am waiting on some better pics. I am afraid to have him take it somewhere to get it verified on the off chance that whoever is performing the inspection may try and steal the sale. I asked for pic of movement, dial, engravings between lugs. Is there any other pics that I should ask for to make a decision without him taking it somewhere. I will post the better pics when I get them. Sucks becauce I just dumped a good amount of money in parst for me 1675 build and I may have to sell them off to fund this purchase.

Purchasing a gen movement is an option down the road for now I need to get it together so I can get working on the next an mbw 1665.
