It's a rep bracelet. It doesn't have a solid gold center on the end link.
-
The Zigmeister, maybe you can find out from your customer where the watch came from and which version it is, as it would help determine whether this is a new trend or limited to a particular dealer's watches or particular version of same.

He he. I think Cartier mostly appeals to women, with the exception of this model w/ black strap, which is popular with men (but apparently not on this forum!), the solid gold models which some powerbroker types wear, and the metrosexuals who wear the men's versions of the stainless steel watches. Feel like I need to go to Cartier Anonymous to find someone who likes the chronoscaph, sheesh!
-
I hadn't thought of that. Would this be the case for a quartz movement?

I think this watch is gorgeous. Classy and sporty at once. But only one of our dealers carries it, and it, as well as all the other off-forum sites that carry it, doesn't have an accurate version. I mean, the case size isn't even correct, being 36mm versus the genuine 38.5mm, as the rep cases are based on another cartier watch. See picture of gen, below. What do you all think? Here with white rubber:

You're correct; there's no gen. ss Rolesor GMT II. Here's a picture of mine from Josh. I got the ss anyway because I liked it. Here it is next to gen sub

Josh's 50th Anniv. model is exacty what you are asking for. Black bezel, green GMT hand, black dial, sub crown and guards. It has a new type of bracelet, different from oyster. Check it out.

You would not like it if you handled it. I've seen this, and it is Cheap POC. Our reps are far superior in overall quality and authentic feel.
-
I also love this watch. I purchased the black/black model with the newfangled bracelet being used on the yachtmaster (oyster-like with polished center link and new one-action clasp). Mine is from Josh. Unfortunately, the ETA crapped out within one week.

Well, sort of. We did find something nice, at a price we could live with, but we wanted to look some more, then never made it back to that store....

Was in Manhatten's diamond district on 46th, and my wife was looking at a ring. The jeweler had a blue TT sub that I was admiring, when I noticed the gold on one segment of the clasp was worn out from constantly banging and rubbing the clasp against the corner of the display counter. Intrigued that this happened and wondering how durable the gold on the clasps really is, I inquired. Turns out the jeweler tells me the watch is a rep! He wears the rep in the store because watches gets so banged up against the display counter. The jeweler let me handle it when I expressed my amazement that the watch was a rep., given that it had a flawless blue dial and deep rehaut. Normally those would give up any blue tt rep I've ever seen. (I know from these things, because I have a gen blue tt.) He said he didn't mod the dial; it came that way. The dial was so perfect in every way that I think the dealer puts gen or aftermarket replacement dials in his reps. Interestingly, the jeweler said the best place to get good Rolex reps in NY is right there in the diamond district! You won't find them in a storefront, and you have to ask. The other interesting thing is that when looking at this rep, it never would have occurred to me that it wasn't genuine, given the fact that the owner of a large diamond store and his son were wearing them, and secondarily, the perfect colored/marked dial. Yet upon handling the watch, the pearl was a dog, the bracelet had solid links, and the crown and crown guards weren't particularly accurate. Just goes to show that: 1) if you are a person who could credibly wear a $6,000+ watch, it never occurs to other people who would credibly wear such a watch, that your watch might not be authentic; 2) this was a very different rep. than you can get from any of our dealers; 3) Reps are pervasive, even among the authentic jewelers of midtown Manhatten 4) Most of the reps we get thru this forum are good enough to fool almost all of the people almost all of the time; and 4) It is our own awareness that we are wearing reps, and our knowledge of their inaccuracies that often drives our level of satisfaction.

Welcome, and don't feel bad about your reps. The Daytona is beautiful, incorrect dials notwithstanding.

Sure, I just don't want to bother Jos unless its something I cannot easily fix on my end. Maybe someone else had the same problem and can shed light on this.
-
I received this watch late last week from Jos and love it, but it quit on me the other day after working fine for the first several days I had it. The hour and minute hands are frozen, while the second hand continues to work perfectly. I would appreciate advice from anyone who knows whether there might be a simple fix for this, or whether I need to ask for a new watch. Thanks.

It does look nice. Did you replace the stock pearl, or did it actually come this way (and if so, is this TTK's?).
-
Thanks for posting the comparison pics. It is often very difficult to tell rehaut depth of a rep thru photos w/o a comparision to the gen. These are the kind of pics we need more of.

Spectactular work, fantastic! Did you canabalize the perfect sub you just bought from Josh, or did you have another?
-
Thanks, Ubi, that's exactly what I was looking for. Is there an online source for this kind of stuff? I did asome searches but came up empty. Background: I was looking at one sub that had an MA? marking stamped on the clasp, and no bracelet reference engraved on the bracelet, and another sub that has "AD 6" stamped and does have the bracelet ref. engraving. I'm also curious to know how old each is based upon this.....
-
Since joining the forum, I learned that genunine oyster bracelets don't have the bracelet reference number (ex: 93250) engraved on the bracelent on the last link before the SEL. Now I'm not so sure anymore. I have read that some do and some don't, but I don't know what to believe at this point. I have seen one recent "gen" sub that does not have the number engraved, and another "gen" that does. I'm wondering if one of them isn't a gen....
-
Anyone know if modern rep bracelets fits latest gen sub case?

A free forum is great, but I think it's reasonable to offer a free get-to-know-the-place period and then charge a minimum fee for continued access. OR to allow posts and PMs only upon becoming a paying member. We're not talking big bucks here.

Another Genuine 16610 Bezel Insert - Or Not?!
jnkay replied to HauteHippie's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Haven't looked at the underside of mine (haven't taken the watch apart). The other thing I noticed is that on mygen, the 5, 15, 25, etc. markers as well as the triangle with the pearl all extend from edge to edge of the insert. But I notice Ubi's don't do that, so again, maybe some variation.... -
Another Genuine 16610 Bezel Insert - Or Not?!

The pearl looks OK to me (I'm comparing it to a gen at this moment). What doesn't look right is the point of the triangle below the pearl. The gen should have a distinct and well-formed point below the pearl, which looks like a mess in these pictures. I suppose there could be individual variation, but with the QC of Rolex, I doubt it.
