anyone know if they are planning on repping the Sea versions, I love the defy extremes, and the black/blue Sea models are dead sexy.

Saw a review on another site about a guy's UPO that he took to Iraq, it finally died on him after two years, but only the crown and tube, which he got repaired. So far it has held up despite being down 100 or so feet during an active dive, lived through a 120mm rocket impact 25m away (what I think initially loosened the rotor), being bounced across concrete along with me after afrementioned impact, been knocked about inside a HMMWV on some of the worst roads in Iraq, made it through a sandstorm (13 SEP IVO Samarra) that got sand into places I wasn't aware existed on my body, withstood being on my wrist through 3 months of actions on drills, took recoil forces from 5,000+ rounds of .45 ACP hardball, a 220V shock and hours upon hours of 130+ degree heat.

IWC doppelchrono is great looking watch, also the Portuguese and Portofino vintage are stunning and about the same size (44mm). Maybe a PAM288 or PAM250? Just throwing some options out there

I think you can get friends and family to understand though, on How Its Made they just did a segment at the Blancpain compay on how they make the Le Brassus Tourbillon (I can't find it on youtube or anything yet, it just aired on the third). I was watching it with my cousin and my uncle and although the 150k USD price-tag was something of a shock, they were totally enamored with the intricacies of making the watch. My cousin even commenting that he thought watchmaking would be an awesome job to have.

You could also try to find a modded UPO for sale by a member, probably wouldn't cost as much, but not as fun as doing the mods yourself.

On the gen it looks like the etching more visible on an angle, but looking at it straight on it seems a bit more translucent.
