In all honesty, it was the members here and the kindness they showed you that taught me the lesson and prompted me to evaluate my motives for posting, however I'm more than happy for you to take the win mate.
You have ignited my curiosity though, What line of work are you in? I'm intrigued!

Bvc? What u mean my man?
My apologies rolexuk. My comment was designed to draw attention to the fact that your post was noob and idiotic in nature.
Upon closer examination of my motives I deduce that actually what happened was that I saw the opportunity to capitalise on my own feelings of inadequacy regarding my knowledge of rep watches by drawing attention to yours, in the hope the community would side with me and flame you. Thus making me feel I was better than you. (Text book bullying tactics in other words)
Upon reflection this was wholly immature on my part, and I apologise unreservedly. In turn the positive response you recieved from the members here only served to highlight the fact my comment was unfair.
Please forgive my little outburst.

People at all levels of social stratification work very hard to get to a certain level of success and prosperity measured against their peers. This success is represented by status and quality of their property and social circles. Facebook counted on this. So most people live in neighborhoods that reflect their level success and often choose cars, clothes, food, and other discretionary, and non discretionary items this way.
Luxury watches are no different. So if you work really hard, or live a life of privilege, and the symbols of your social circles are GEN Daytonas, you will expect to have a certain rapport even with strangers sporting GEN Daytonas. And chances are you will have some common ground that is acceptable within your in-common social strata. If the person is wearing a rep AND they do not belong at your social level, you will wonder about their credibility, honesty, and many other things.
Why some people actually get angry is hard to say but it probably has to do with taking offense in a personal way. That rep wearer does not deserve to wear the same symbols that I wear, or the fact that there are frauds among us cheapens our worth.
Just speculating on your interesting subject
You sir are completely on the money.

M2m for me every time. Some true gents on this forum ( you know who you are!) I even stick to uk sellers as I know when one of their pieces comes up it will be a cracker, I'd rather wait on these guys to sell than deal with china again.
Ps. Stay away from sixx! He gets very confused. You buy a watch, he sends all sorts of other goodies. straps, buckles, sweeties and more!!! The poor man is clearly vulnerable and I simply would not want to see him taken advantage of. ;-) if you fellas can just give him some space and avoid his sales threads I will make sure he's looked after.

Oh cool. Thanks for that cc33. Looks weird to me, but what do I know! Looked at a 1000 pics of clasps on google. Not one of that gap.
Thanks again.

Hi fellas, sorry for noob question, I just got this sub fixed and had to make up the bracelet from a drawer full of old links. I managed to make this up but does the gap on the clasp look right? Never had a rolex rep and can't find any pics at that angle. Just don't seem right though. Have I cocked it up?
I'm looking for a NATO strap and have a TC insert waiting in Finland.. But would appreciate any opinions on the, what appears to be a huge gap between link and clasp.
Cheers

Why the hell would you want to work full time in an ad. If your business is turning a profit. (Remember turnover is vanity) work when you want where you want, (no kids man!) travel the world, expand your watch business, I could understand if you we're going to train to build movements or something but don't jack in a business to work full time in a shop.
Story for ya! I sold my gen brietling gt to a dealer years ago. I met him in London. He met me in claridges tea room. Full of high fliers. Robby Williams two tone rolls was parked out the front, (how do I know?) coz the number plate said rw1 and he came out as I went in! I then went and stood behind Jeremy clarkson at the cloakroom and had my jacket taken and shown to a table. The guy was dressed immaculately, proper English gent. Took a quick look offered me 2k cash. Wouldnt be haggled so I accepted, he bought me a cup of tea (20 quid a pot!) we had a chat, he told me he bought and sold watches and used claridges as his office. Shook hands and bid him good day.
Just a really cool experience. No doubt he made a nice wedge on my watch as well.
So my 2 p worth is do something cool. And unless your gonna [censored] the boss and take over the franchise I'd stick to working for yourself. That is unless your gonna fly jets or become pm.

The devils drink that stuff. Even hearing the name makes me shudder.

Ok. The deed is done. Went into an ad today and bought one. It was horrific, some expert trying to educate me on the thing, told me how good the chrono was. Then couldn't work it. Asked about the movement for a laugh. She told me quartz is becoming more sought after than auto movements these days as people like to see the hand tick rather than sweep!!!
Pics soon.
£250! Can't believe it!
My (almost perfect) IWC Big Pilot Rep 5002 with Gen Parts
in The IWC Area
Posted
Great thread fellas. Really caught my eye I really surprised at the gen dial prices. Defo on my radar now. So are we saying gen dial fixes sunken dw issue? Just bought Richard Lawton's modded 5002 and she's a cracker but as I'm starting to realise this rabbit hole just keeps going.
I was gonna sell my un modded 5002 but after reading this I might hold out and see what comes up.
