  1. Very beautiful, Dave. From some of the pics it appears that the Datewheels are not aligned correctly. Is this the case and is it something inherent in the sec@3 bentley's? or am I seeing things?

I'm really on the fence with my buying decision on this one. :whistling:

What is the deal with the datewheels @ 12 on the bentley models? Same with my 6.75, I Just couldnt live with it. Got replacement datewheels and they were off too the left 0 seems to lean to the left. Seen a few bentleys for sale and they are off as well. Is this a problem with the bentley double date models or have I just seen the bad ones?

  2. Young Jedi has lots to learn

    ?????

Whats the problem with wanting some fancy rep paperwork to go with my rep watch that sits in a rep box? No offense guys but I dont really see the problem. if josh sold fancy paperwork I would consider it.

I appreciate there are issues with scammers but imo if your willing to part with $1000's on a watch without meeting the guy at an ad's to confirm authenticity. Then you deserve to get scammed. There, yeh I said it!!!! Just need your bank account details and sort code saaaaar. youve just won the ugandan lottery. :D

  3. Hi there, I'm a new forum member and some of you might have seen a couple of my inputs around, just thought I'd share an experience that I had today..

So, I've been reading rwg for many too many hours over the past week and a half or so, when I first came to the forum my interest for watches was high but my knowledge and brand awareness low, I knew kinda what brands were the big ones and which weren't and I had my views on Rolex (which started out as quite negative have now been completely changed by the enthusiasts on this board! I seem to be growing a large desire to purchase one - which is the first sign!)

Today I go to the 'mall'/shopping center near me and for the first time I look at the watches in all the high end jewellers and AD's and actually know what things are!

"Ohh the super avenger, ohh the planet ocean with the orange strap!" [excitement]

Usually the windows full of watches become a torrential jargon of random shineys but no, not today! Today I know exactly what I'm looking at!

One thing that did surprise me, since I've never obviously paid so much attention to the watches before, HOW TINY ARE THEY!? I suppose I became so accustomed to blown up pictures looking for inperfections on this board, that today when I saw all the models (like the Super Avenger in particular which people call huge) I came to the realisation the actual time pieces look tiny! I didnt get any of the watches out and try them on although I should have particularly with the super avenger but AD retail salesmen/women are intimidating.. (kinda)

I wonder if anyone has had similar experiences with sizes of watches on the pictures on here then seeing the actual piece in person?

I will add 1 thing; theres something sad about seeing these beautiful watches on display in the window not ticking, I think they should all be started so you can see their movement. Anyone agree?

I agree. They are display models anyway, why not just put them them in watchwinder overnight. I hate looking at the rolex ads and not seeing the sweep on them.

and btw, most staff at ads are on .

  4. I mean....considering you have to set the date/time either way is there really that much harm in giving it a few gentle shakes or 5-10 slow turns when you let it run down? I guess if you dropped it and pegged the stem or something you could damage that and I suppose in practice it's a good idea to keep a crown screwed in for the reasons the AD mentioned but I'll wait for an expert to comment based on their experience...

I see what your sayin, thanks for your comments, I just found that a few swirls sometimes does not charge the watch enough from flat. Or I get it going and an hour later it has stopped.

ps I fell in love with your 6.75. Wish I had the

  5. So from my time here, I conclude, it seems Lanikai is living my dream!!!

Working out, living in paradise and amassing a huge collection of beautiful time pieces. (no doubt he has a huge john too!!)

So how about it Lanikai? How about a shot of your watchbox(s)? :D

    peace and love,

  6. Hi Guys,

Is it better to keep my unworn watches with the crown pulled out to keep power reserve up. So i just adjust the date and time when i wear a new one and its ready to go. (i currently do this)

or should i let it rund down? and power it up when i wear it.

I ask cause i went to an a/d today to try on my next purchases, big pilot and the v3 dssd asked about storage. (gave it large and said i have serveral watches and i pull out the crown to keep the reserve up)(and no i didnt wear a rep when i went in  )and he went nuts. should never leave the crown open as you can damage the movement!! dust/dirt and flies!!! honest he said fly's. wtf!!

    so anyway any advice?

peace and love, peace and love....

  7. Simple answer- The SA fvcking rocks. Bracelet is too thin, blobs for lume markers, colours are off on white and blue, bezel stamping could be sharper.

Other than that, it's spot on.

For sure one of the best out of the box IMHO.

    Haven't seen a red strap.....

Anyone know if the white dial has been updated. Cant decide between the new deep sea or the white dial Super avenger! If the white is now white it gotta be the sa.

  8. Oh dear, I was about to pull the trigger on this. Are we talking a bad batch or just 1or 2 off out of the batch? If its a bad batch then I am annoyed coz by definition, doesn't that mean some unsuspecting customers are gonna get them. Shouldn't the dealer response be "Its a bad batch so I am not willing to sell them."? A 30 second qc would tell a dealer thats not acceptable. Or does the complaint ratio warrant the risk of passing on poor quality watches.

    Why is this cr*p accepted?

  9. On the point of AR, after 2006 the Porto received AR coating. However, the crown on these reps is the one that was used on the pre-2006 Porto. Therefore if you get AR the dates won't match up because it will have the older crown design....however, you'd have to be really observant to notice this, and AR would make the dial a little clearer on the white/blue version :)

I am still trying to work out why some things bother me and other often bigger faults dont. The crown issue wouldn't bother me, maybe its the briets but I love double ar. (Mmmmm, that sounds a little too gay for my liking!!) I think its just a good ar says quality straight away, before you even get close to a watch.

Anyway, thanks again for your help.

  10. I'm sorry, but you asked why no-one replied. Would you prefer me to lie to you? :D

Still, at least you have your answer. I recommend you follow b16a2's progress with his new Portuguese Chrono as he's a respected member who is reviewing exactly the watch you're talking about.

Fair doo's 12,222 posts! I'm not gonna argue with that. B)

  11. The Porto Chrono was available in gen both with and without AR. However, unless it's a Breitling, you'll need to get it redone if you want close-to-genuine AR.

    Thanks. :D

No, it was the lack of pictures and the general vagueness that shows you've not read the IWC guide fully. :D

    No Thanks <_<

  12. Hey guys. i'm a brietling boy, had a black faced super avenger glued to my wrist for months! but recently i have had my head turned by the big pilot and the portuguese chrono.

    I love this.

    http://www.jpc8118.com/00iwpg10002-portugu...ved-p-5491.html

Read some reviews and looking for a little help..I can live with the datewheels issue but I have to have double ar for my first purchase. Is it just the bp that comes with double ar? and is it proper double ar? ala super avenger. Love the portuguese but the outta box ar look a bit naff. If I get hooked on IWC's I will use chief to mod, but for my noob IWC is it the bp, based on these requirements?

    Would appreciate your comments. Thanks.

  13. Just my .02, but Josh is on the square about that obviously as he has already done it for you 2 times already and he has made good. You have nothing to worry about with his word on stuff like that and I have 4 years of experience with every problem imaginable with him. The customs issue is another story. Why don't you voice your customs concern to Josh and see what he says? In other words, tell him you will ship the head and bracelet seperately or something a day apart so at least one figures to get there. Then try and make a deal with him that if customs seizes one of them he will know it wasn't you that burned him and then he will feel better about sending you a free watch. Trust me, he makes wheelbarrows full ofmoney and could care less about the watch - standard stuff, but if he doesn't know you real well he doesn't want to get burned for a free watch. He would send you one in every color if he knew you were on the square. That's just the way he is. Try it out and I bet he will come to a customs compromise with you. Just express your concern as you do here. He is more than a reasonable man...

Fair comment. Though his repair guy must be blind coz the watch came with severely misaligned subdials. I sent it back. It was fixed and sent back to me with misaligned subdials and misaligned datewheels and a loose crown. I sent it back. It was fixed and sent back with misaligned datewheels, a loose crown and a worn away print on the face!!! Which is why I asked for a refund, Josh to his credit has agreed to give that refund, so fair play to the guy. Just I was so pre occupied with getting my money or a new watch back, I forgot about the customs issue.. Another point is this. I entrusted him on my 1st order with over $1000. It would have been nice if that trust was extended to me now I want a new watch or refund. I think Josh is pretty p*ssed with me coz he has offered a refund and not a replacement watch. Obviously the latter would have been cheaper for him. (Mind you not if it gets lost/stolen) So I think he wants shot of me. I actually love his website, his stock, his email response rate and his payment facilities If someone could just look at the bl**dy watches before they go out I would spend the kids inheritence with him.

Anyhoo ive emailed him about my customs concerns, I will keep those of you who are interested posted. :D

Thanks for your advice guys. Its really appreciated.

  14. Here're my thoughts on the scenario:

You paid Joshua for the watch before he had it shipped to you. It is not unreasonable to expect that trust to extend both ways. Given the amount of money dealers make on a watch, even if you were to keep the money and the watch (not saying you would, just saying if you were to) it's not as if it is going to bankrupt Joshua... To be honest, just because others have ripped him off in the past, there's no reason to assume that future clients will rip him off...

If the issue is simply faulty dial print, then might Joshua be able to send you a replacement dial by itself which you could then swap over... If the issue is only the dial, there'd be no need to replace the movement as well...

Best of luck with getting a happy resolution :good:

Thanks The Zigmeister. I appreciate your comments.

Teejay I totally agree with you I paid my money

  15. Thanks guys, I think I am asking for trouble. Thing is Josh gives the "trust" line and that he has been ripped off loads by customers, so he cant just refund stuff without the watch in his hand. But something just says i am being a mug. havent got a leg to stand on. josh wants the watch first. I want the refund first. Stalemate. (In josh's favour coz the watch is shot) This time the brietling text on the face of the watch is worn away on the "B" it reads Rreitling for bentley. wont it need a whole new fitted movement and face to be fitted. Anyway its been back twice for repairs to the face. If Josh cant do it I dont think I could.

    http://i390.photobucket.com/albums/oo341/b...pics/675031.jpg

I thought about sending it to someone josh trusted in england, they can confirm they have the watch, then josh can refund me. But I think that could be taken the wrong way by josh.

    Thanks BVC.

  16. Ok....My 6.75 Brietling for Bentley is going back to Josh for the third time in 3 months. Its had 2 failed repairs and as a result Josh has graciously offered to refund me if I send it back to him. Now forgive me but I am just not comfortable. I am paranoid at the best of times and feel this time round it would be very convenient if it got lost or stolen on the way.

Not implying Josh is dodgy, Its just that I am not the luckiest guy in the world and it would be typical if it got lost and Josh washed his hands of it. Josh has said "send it back and I will refund" but 3rd time around, am I tempting fate? Not being funny but I dont wanna deal with the whole "package not recieved you better speak to customs" scenario.

Any ideas? Dont wanna lose $380

Just thinking about it I've really answered my own question. Either way I am b*ggered. I've got a worthless watch. (Cant wear it coz of the state of it, and I respect you guys to much to try and palm it off) So I suppose I have already lost my $. How's that for positivity!!!!

Oh Well any ideas or encouragement would be appreciated.
