  1. How good are the reps today? Well, let me tell you my story. Last year I graduated with my doctorate and decided I wanted a Rolex as my graduation present. I started researching the models and chose the Yachtmaster as my favorite. When searching online I came across RWG and decided to purchase a rep while I saved up some extra cash for the YM. I ordered a ETA Yachtmaster from Chris at Eurotimez. The first one was confiscated by customs (crappy luck for a first timer) but he quickly sent a replacement that arrived in great condition. It was so similar to a gen YM that I got compliments on it all the time. Other doctors and patients would frequently admire it and ask what kind it was. I felt this was a little too shiny for me so I opted for a model with a little less bling. My next favorite model was the Explorer II with white dial. I purchased a used rep through RWG's trade area to avoid going through customs. The rep looked and felt great. I wore it almost every day until last week when I decided to purchase the gen Explorer II. When I brought my gen home I handed both the rep and the gen to my wife and said 'Which one is the genuine Rolex?', After inspecting the two, my wife held up the REP! I pointed out how the gen's lume was better and how the dial markers were black and not silver to tell which was the gen. She didn't care, she just thought the rep looked to be the most expensive. So in summary: I can't consistently point out my gen from my rep when standing 2-3 feet away. My wife can't even tell while holding them. My rep YM has gotten me more compliments than my gen Explorer II. If I hadn't tried the reps first I wouldn't have gotten the rep I am most happy with. I thank all those on RWG for all the advice and for sharing their knowledge. Now I am looking for a Sub rep, to see if I want to buy a genuine Sub in the future. I'll post side-by-side pics when I can get the camera settings to give decent pictures. -- DJ
  2. Best Financial Advice: "Quit spending money Ass-hole!!!"
  3. My girl just hit 8 months old recently. It is amazing how exciting it is for every new achievement they make, first smile, rolling over, crawling, first teeth, standing, waving, etc. I am looking forward to the upcoming milestones and know you will enjoy many with your new family. Congratulations JJ. Do they make reps in infant sizes?
  4. SEIZED!!! Empty package delivered with note from customs.
  5. New doctor. I figured I need to pay off student loans rather than buy gens for now. Reps are addicting. Although dealing with customs and shipping seems to suck. DJ
  6. Congratulations!!! My wife and I just had our first baby a few months ago, a girl, and she is the most wonderful thing in the world. I hope all goes well for you and your wife Viz. I don't know where you live but we needed to trade in our car for an SUV/Crossover that had A/C and heater vents in the back seat. Otherwise the baby would burn up in the summer and freeze in the winter. We got a Buick Enclave. It's awesome. Buick Website
  7. I found the post where Lanikai explains that the best response is to do nothing. Sounds like he has plenty of experience with this. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=77656
  8. I was wondering the same thing. I have a package that has been held for two weeks now. Someone made a comment earlier that it is best to just not reply to customs at all. I was wondering what the best response to give them was. Should you say you didn't order anything? Or tell them you ordered the item for $15 or so? Anyone have experience here?
  9. Next you can tell us how you got the girl, took her home, and positioned the watch on the nightstand so she could be impressed by the superlume as you did it in the dark. Just be careful who you pick up or you might get one who will swipe that watch off the nightstand and try to pawn your fake Rolex. Then you'll be back to a naked wrist and no naked chicks.
  10. When ordering through EMS the package is transferred to and delivered by the US Postal Service (USPS). So the delivery procedure should be exactly like any other USPS package. If the postal workers feels it is safe, they will leave it on your doorstep, or in the mailbox. If you live in an area where they think it might get taken, they will take it back to the post office and leave you a notice on your door. You can then go to the post office and pick it up. You usually need to show some form of ID.
  11. Dallas customs has been holding my watch for the last 11 days. It was sent by Chris using EMS. It took 6 days to get from Asia to Dallas. So it looks like there is a lot of variation in EMS shipping and where the package hits customs.
  12. I am waiting on a rep that has been in Dallas for the last 10 days. It's driving me crazy. Sent from Thailand. This sucks... is Dallas typically slow like San Francisco? DJ
  13. I was actually reading a gen rolex forums discussion of the same topic. Most of them replied that when someone asks them if it is fake they get really offended. A few of them used digitalnrg's response and sarcastically said it was fake. But in either case, if you are wearing a gen and someone asks you if it is fake you would normally be pretty offended.
  14. Have never heard of them. I would AVOID them, and possibly the seller. The domain the site uses, www.express-gps.CO.CC actually takes you to a site that offers free subdomains. Try going to http://www.co.cc and you will see that it is unlikely this company is reliable when they are using a free domain name service. What international corporation would do this? I assume he wants to use their escrow service. If you really want to buy the item tell him you will pick a different escrow service to use.
  15. I agree. I've had a Samsung Plasma that gets a ton of use since 2004 and it has no burn in, or any other problems. It has an excellent bright picture and wide viewing angle. I have a wide room with lots of sunlight and the plasma was perfect for it. The cheaper plasmas tend to have poor contrast and color problems. I would avoid a cheap plasma. DLP projection televisions have a great picture and are inexpensive for a large size. Main drawbacks are a narrow viewing angle and they aren't as good in a well-lit room. LCD seems to be a good option for those in a bright room and need a wider angle than on a DLP. Their picture quality has really improved in the last few years and the price has come down for large LCDs. I would first choose the type of tv based on the characteristics of the room then focus on size and model.
  16. In your case I would tell the person you used student loan money or scholarship to buy them (probably somewhat true), and that you purchase watches as an investment like jewelry (probably also somewhat true). Most people wouldn't know how much a high-end watch will appreciate or depreciate. As for me, I joke and tell people I sell drugs. Although, that's my legal job so I can get away with it.
  17. I was told that this was the place to ask "Who has the best sub?" Oh, not here. Maybe someone will ask in another thread.
  18. I am not sure which version that rep is, but like By-Tor says, that looks like the worst YM rep out there. On a gen 2008 Yachtmaster the Rolex engraving is so fine you would barely notice it. I would look at buying from another dealer instead of the one who is offering you that watch.
  19. I'm not sure which one of the contenders is the current Noobmaster? Can someone point it out for me? Also, Chris says he is offering a modified Noob yachtmaster that contains the crystal and bezel from the MBK. It will be cheaper than the MBK and combine the best parts from the MBK with the Noob. He calls it a EuroYachtmaster. Any thoughts?
  20. I've heard there is a vast bucket-stealing conspiracy out there. You better watch out!
  21. Unfortunately the filmmaker didn't post his sources for the addendum, so we don't know if any of it is true. As a doctor I have drug companies tell be all kinds of crap, I don't believe any of it unless I can evaluate their sources. Thanks for posting an interesting topic highoeyazmuhudee. DJ
  22. The real problem is not capitalism or the banking system, the real problem is the politicians who are supposed to regulate it. It should be illegal for a politician or their immediate family to financially benefit from the laws they make. Less regulation is good, but not always. Regulations should be made to protect the people, but also allow the companies to thrive. It just bugs me when people blame capitalism for the problems of the people who choose not to put forth the effort to be successful. This filmmaker blames capitalism while using a computer, video camera, Windows or Mac OS, video editing software, the internet, and Google video, all products of capitalism. Read this: http://zeitgeistmovieisfake.com/truth/ These conspiracy theorists aren't interested in making change, they make these statements to sell books and videos. Capitalist pigs!
  23. Here is the link to the sources that the film maker used as evidence for the "documentary". http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/sources.htm If you do watch the movie, just be aware that practically every source is from a conspiracy theorist. The sources are all against religion, capitalism. and say that the American government planned the attacks on 9/11. A true documentary should present both sides of an issue in a fair manner. Check out the movie, just know what you are watching. DJ
