hey guys....
I have the Omega railmaster XXL, which is a very very nice watch - I just serviced it but i feel that the strap that came with it is poor. I would like to swap it out for a better strap. The lug size is 24mm, so i'm looking at a fairly large strap (panerai sized), does anyone know any good nice black/dark brown straps that you would recommend?
thanks in advance!

I received two on my doorstep yesterday, a 1665 and 1680, yes they do exsist.
haha...you lucky bastard....
-
hahah eat him Twotone!

I have this model.
Very nice watch - its pretty much identical to the genuine - a little weight difference.
The movement is not the ETA 2892. its the seagull 2892 copy. It wears well and the gold is pretty good, no wear so far.
-
no alterations at all.
dial is a straight fit into the eta 2824/2836.
-
....tahnks fro the wraning.....
i ddin't udnersatnd mcuh...haha

I agree 100%. It is not an asian copy of an ETA but it has the same function, fit more or less into the same hole/case and looks similar but not more more than that. Its just hype.
btw Gran,
I remember you posted a whole bunch of seagull movements a while back, I recall seeing a similar movement to the 2836/2824. Maybe you can have another look at the seagull catalog and give us a heads up.
thanks buddy.

it can vary - new from Ofrei is around $140USD
You can buy second hand ones on ebay for around $50
-
i'm sure one of us will buy one of these asian ETA copies soon, I for one, will be looking at purchasing one of the Omega POs.
I will do a breakdown when i get it.

and it doesnt even run....
this cant be the normal going price for this model can it Randy?

that 3'o clock marker is only on the fullsize versions of the seamasters.
The midsize versions do not have it.
From what i've heard, the new seamasters all do not have the 3 o clock marker, a downgrade for sure, but you can replace it with a genuine dial if you like.

yep, its a no-date seamaster.
I am still waiting for 2 more parts. All the parts are of course rep parts - the so called "vietnamese cobbler"
I hope to update you guys soon...but busy again due to uni work. =(
maybe sometimes next week, i hope, or week after. =)

hahaah good call Ken....
sorry Everythingape

oh u bad boy!
haha wear it well - not a big fan of TITANIUM but it does look very nice

Today i went to a watchmaker and asked if he could press the crystal in...you know what he did? I was kicked out of his store the moment he realized it was a rep watch...what took approximately 2 seconds).
So after I was back home i tried to push it in by hand...and it cracked again. Thats 500$ paid for broken crystals...i think I will just throw this watch away, and buy the gen one, because it keeps costing me so much money (already paid over 1500$ for it) and buying the genuine is more worthwile i think.
holy [censored] ....thats a nasty ending....when i need a certain thing done which i can't do myself - I generally strip the watch so that a watchmaker can't tell instanteous if the watch is a rep or not. Then again for you - trying to fit a genuine rolex crystal that everyone knows does not fit rep models will give it away anyway....better next time

I'm fine with the prices rising - I will still buy it! but I know the rising prices are due to many factors that each dealer has to face in order to make dough. But my previous post is comparing those prices with those scam sites does not justify a price rise.
-
ohh you got me wrong...i meant the replica of the 007 spiral version. The genuine version of that is very nice, not the best design IMHO but definitely not POS..haha
the replica that the dealers are offering are a POS compared to the older limited edition replica.
hope that clears it up
-
don't compare prices here from our dealers with global replicas and try to make yourself look better
this forum was made so we would AVOID those scams. Don't compare yourself to SCAM sites and tell us that rising prices are expected.

yes it is a good idea if you are using the GMT hand as the 24hour hand.
However, as many users actually use the GMT hand for a 2nd time zone - having the 24 at the top makes more sense. But then again, you can always get use to the other way around.
thanks for the idea!

@ R1cco
and change the backcase....and clasp?....haha i'm not a fan of the new limited edition spiral dial POS, but the old school one was definitely out there!
Plus its worth alot more than the standard model when mint.

thanks for the review...
btw - put some moisturiser on your fingers.....hehe

I don't see any reason why a waterproof rep wouldn't re-start with a shake once it was thawed out.
Why all that condensation? That seems very odd to me. Since water expands (unlike most everything else) when frozen, I am wondering if the freezing water forced itself into the case somehow. In any event, now ya got me curious.
Bill
well once its thawed out, that would mean there will be water inside the movement.....that would ruin the movement for sure. thats a no go.
-
well....let me think.....if you put it in the freezer, the automatic movement will stop because the oil will feeze up and thus the gears won't work.
There are different types of watch oils - one which is suppose to be for cooler conditions, but not freezing.
theres not point in trying, the watch will definitley stop.
