Joshua REALLY goofed - AD says he sent me a Gen
sonystyle replied to TJGladeRaider's topic in General Discussion
Thread Summary: 1. Rep watch fooled authorized dealer. 2. Owner of Rep made joke saying Josh sent him a gen by mistake. -
Hmmm, technically you would have to have 2 or more gathered, the photographer is one...
-
Yikes, I didnt even see that On one of the pics "Swiss Made" is sitting on just 3 hash marks, on the next pic its on 5 individual hash marks... I guess it just goes to show that any rep Sub can be called out as a rep if you look long enough, or know what to look for - in my view they all start to look the same after a while...
-
Id say for $200 USD compared to $4600 USD for the gen, this rep is a good deal. Its not pefect, maybe the indices are 0.25mm to thick, or the "m" is too bold or whatever but at only 4.5% of the gen as the OP said its an excellent value, as are most of the subs here.

In all fairness I dont think the guy inspected the watch that closely in a mens washroom Maybe just looked at it for 4 or 5 seconds (at the most) and said "Hey - thats a nice watch, Ive got the same one" sort of thing... I dont mean to take away anything from the rep, it is a beautiful watch...and if one has no reason to assume its fake, youd assume its a gen right right away.

Same thing happened to gen once on TimeZone, so now I always check the bolts first ! -

Take a look at the 1:00 screw/bolt... the flat head groove is the wrong way...but still a nice watch. -
Yes its really addictive. Sometimes I only check-in for 2-3 minutes to see if anyone has made any new threads or replied to a post I find interesting. What more can you ask for - Nice watches, look like 98% real for cheap.

I think a Cartier Santos, or something like that is nice... Two-tone is nice for a chick watch of this type...so they can accesorize it, etc.

Gen Rolex Explorer 1 Reviewed In Detail
sonystyle replied to 2005SUBMARINER's topic in The Rolex Area
That article is from Walt, he left TZ over the reaction to the article... -
It looks crooked to me too. Do something about it soon, or you will never wear the watch and its like throwing money away if that is the case. Either add some money to the dealer for an exchange, or ask the dealer his advice...
-
Wow, thats a beauty, if it was off the shelf Id buy one for sure ... It looks great
-
It depends on the value of the watch, but I think regular USPS, EMS is good. I live in Canada and USPS boxes get through to me fine. Usually the post man just leaves it on my door step, so I dont have to pay any extra fees at all...

Joshua's Solid 18k Tt Datejust/what Do You Think?
sonystyle replied to crystalcranium's topic in The Rolex Area
Well in time everything stretches, even Oysters if its your daily wearer for 15 years, etc. But the jubilees are the worst - Pres, I havent heard to much about... The DayDate (President) you can only buy in Plat or Gold, so most peolpe dont wear them as a beater watches, or wear them every single day, hence not as many stories about streching... -
Joshua's Solid 18k Tt Datejust/what Do You Think?
sonystyle replied to crystalcranium's topic in The Rolex Area
Yep it happens on the geniune jubilee bracelets, just due to method of construction and wear. Stainless, or tt, same thing - after wearing for a few years they just stretch.... Some people save their Rolex gen bracelets and wear aftermarket bracelets to keep the gen bracelet in mint shape... And aftermarket oysters are pretty excellent for their price, I suppose its the same with jubilees... -
And then….. HE REMEMBERED!!! That he didnt wind his watch last night...

Interesting Discussion About Rep Pricing
sonystyle replied to fletch512's topic in General Discussion
Respect goes both ways, you need a good seller for sure, but the seller also needs a good honest buyer. I bought $275 Sub, 1st watch was halted, the second watch turned out to be the wrong version so I spent $20 on postage and packaging to send it back, now the dealer cant really find me another copy. So I said keep $80 for yourself to cover your time and dont send me any watch...decent thing to do, not really out of the ordinary. Do most buyers here really screw over dealers that much, maybe its the rep buyers mentality in general, but with 5 years ++ on other boards I never read about dealers complaining about how shitty their clients are, etc... ??? -
Ive always like that watch, I love Coke too.

Great post I hope Im here for a long time too, it really is a great forum !

Thanks By-Tor for the thoughtful and informative contribution as always. I wait till the TW Classic gets here, try it on for a while and see how I like it. Maybe put it up for sale if I dont wear it and get one of those awesome new blue Panerai GMTs... Best regards
