  1. I have $600-700 to spend on a watch. Lately I've been looking at gen entry level 7750 such as Hamilton Jazzmaster, and at chinese tourbillon as well. I have none of these complications in my divers collection so far... What would you do? Any recommendation on gen 7750 in that price range? Any feedback on chines tourbillon (except narika's story)? Thanks!!!
  2. Hmm... you're right, they produced a limited edition in 2002 (1000 p.) but it seems that it is not available anymore... Didn't they revive the 600T recently? And how about the Bathys? Well the more I look at it... but definitly hard to get in Europe!
  3. Some extracts: " Completely finished watches with brand-name, logo etc are delivered; incl. warranty! Prices: - mechanical watches, chronometer and skeleton watches 15
  4. The title says: Create your own brand watch... looks like you can put Rolex logo as well!! http://www.amazon.de/Index-manufacturers-M...l/dp/3866113501 Anybody aware of this book? Thanks
  5. Calling on experts... Do you think it is worth paying the extra for an ETA rep, or are asian almost as reliable than ETA? Some time ago I did only go for ETA but now did the asian movement improve significantly? Thanks for the advice.
  6. Hi all What do you think of this: http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...p;rd=1&rd=1 It is so cheap, even for a seagull, that I wonder: - is the movement really from seagull - is it a true tourbillon - does anybody have experience with seagull tourbillons? thanks in advance for your feedback/comments tag
  7. THANKS all for your tips!
  8. Well said.... very well !!! But... just between your foot massage and the tom yam sup... would you mind checking the page 64 of your inbox... I just would be happy to buy your 304 Louis Brandt ! I also would like to have the details (size, movement, price) of : - 195 AP RO Wempe - 305 Panerai umersible Destro I don't know whether it is for sale or not, in stock or not. Thanks!
  9. I also think about J12 first. In the gen section around $1500 try Bvlgari. But... the best is your daugther is tall and self confident would be... a submariner, or a Luminor Marina (40mm). These fits outgoing ladies per-fec-tly. Very trendy. Of course you need to consider the "it's a rep!" issue in the case of the sub, for the pam it should be ok.
  10. Sorry if a similar topic has been raised earlier but... I'm going to >Singapore next week and would like to know where to go for nice watches: seiko distributed in Asia only, vintages, and also luxury brands if prices are good there! I guess there's no room for reps right? Thaks for your help

    Zomg!11

Whaaa... Nice !! So did you decide to buy the gen or to wait until it is repped? Richard, why wasn't it in your "next rep polls"? I mean, after the SeaHawk of course...
  12. Good trick... but won't work in my case. No name, no delivery: under the same address are around 20 mail boxes... cheers!

    bidpay

BidPay seems less secure than PayPal for an eBay transaction. How do you understand an eBayer refusing PayPal? Thanks for your feedback.
  14. I happened to me but not with a watch. It was a gift but they don't care. It was bulky, so since they are using size/weight stats to figure the shipping cost, the VAT they charge me (which covers both the declared value of the good + the customs' transportation fee estimation) was $70 for something that initially cost $90 !! I couldn't find a way to dodge this bill. If you do let us know the trick...
  15. Now at $4900 but 4 days to go... http://cgi.ebay.fr/AS-NEW-SS-18K-Gold-Role...bayphotohosting Check it out!
  16. On the MOHS scale: Diamond: 10 High tech ceramic: 9 Steel: 5 Gold: 2.5 How about titanium? I thought it is harder than ceramic. But I heard it scratches easilly? EDIT: I found it: Aluminum 2 to 2.9 Gold (pure) 2.75 Silver (pure) 3.25 Platinum (pure) 4.3 Glass 5 to 6 Titanium 5 to 6 (strongly impurity dependent); SS 5 to 8.5 Platinum-Iridium (950) 6.5 Quartz 7 Titanium nitride (TiN) 9 Corundum (sapphire) 9 Diamond 10 I think TiN is the coating used on IWC GST. I'm not sure - no time to do some more research. So SS could be harder than Titanium ...
  17. ah ah... that's true, we have to get used to such a watch!! This recalls me an anecdote. Some time ago, I noticed a nice JL Master Hometime on my boss' wrist. Thinking he might be a watch enthusiast, I started the conversation by complimenting his watch. He started saying yes, he finds it classy, bought it when he got promoted to CEO but thinks that it is too much money for a watch etc. Then he said: "the most difficult at the beginning was to read the time. Now I got used to it".
  18. ah ah I know there is Paris in Texas but don't know about Los Angeles in France.... :-O Anyway, the point between the L and Angeles is quite clear to me. No issue here.
  19. No no... The hours marked from 6 to 18 are black while the ones marked from 18 to 6 are white. It should be reverse. Usually we represent the day in white and the night in black.
  20. I'm looking for a nice world time watch. Here is the status of my search so far - as you can see, I found nothing really convincing under $300 on the market... Can anybody give me a tip for my search or his feedback on a world time he bought? Thanks a lot for your help Many gorgeous gens are made by other brands: Vulcain, Patek, GP to name a few. But only one has been repped as far has I know: Vulcain; and it is not available anymore. I'd love to find something like the Vulcain cricket. Josh & Trusty used to have it for sale but I was not convinced by the pix - it looks like one of the cheap JL rep I bought previously but never got wrist time... Anyway, feedback from these Vulcain is welcomed! I found some 'reps' (in fact, copies of famous models but under a different brand) on the internet but each has an obvious flaw: - This Vulcain copy does not have a functionning inter bezel. It's gorgeous though, and has an alarm function... too bad... - This one, which seems to be inspired by a PP design, is a functionning world time but look at the inter bezel. How can a manufacturer dare to distribute a product with such a flaw??! It sells pretty well on the bay though, looks like people won't notice... I also have been looking at the cheap gens. This Citizen is the best under $200 but still, it looks cheap: I even checked at vintages... This Seiko 6117-6420is a great watch but hard to find on a very good condition (and expensive): Just for the pleasure of the eyes, the PP and the GP of my dreams... well there are tons of ww.tc versions but this is just one the best...
  21. It's true that the Vulcain GMT Cricket is gorgeous but... are reps good? I have been hesitating at TT's models a while ago and decided not to do it. I don't know whether it's the watch or the pix... Did you get the black dial one? How is the finish? Would you care to share some writs shots? How does it work, does the bezel with the cities turn automatically? I think that it does on the gen while the 24h-bezel is fixed. I'm not sure. On the contrary, GP's ww.tc or PP's world time have a automatically rotating As you can see, I'm not looking specifically at the alarm function but the world time one...
  22. ah ah... archibald I like your way of thinking ! Are you sure you're from Washington?
