  1. Nothing against the brand.  Nice stuff overall.  Price does not necessarily warrant "repping".

My impression of the brand is that it is the brand the "Ambercrombie & Fitch" crowd graduate to.

Not a dig or insult, just an observation.  In the mall's near me, they are adjacent to or next to an Ambercrobie store.

For the same price as their shirts, you could actually do better with a Made to Measure at a local tailor or Nordstrom.  Nothing beats custom shirts tailored to your build.

  2. For typical Asian 21J's, regardless of condition just use the winder.  You are dealing with $25.00 movement's that can easily be R&R'd.

That said.  The Asian 7750 is another story.  (Hell even a GEN 7750) I would approach a little more cautiously.

Some winders with "Fuzzy Logic"  (i.e. NOT settable for Clockwise/Counter Clockwise) will NOT keep a 7750 (Gen or Rep) wound more than a week without actual wearing it.  This also holds true with Miyota 8215 aka "Asian 21J clones" that "only wind in one direction".

  3. Hey gang.  I love the enthusiasm on this subject but I need to interject with another PSA for Allergy/Sinus sufferers out there, everywhere.

    Story:

So, I have the luxury of working from my local coffee-shop - indie cafe on a pretty regular basis.  Recently, this guy has been totally stinking up the place with "too heavily applied" cologne.

Talk about a BUZZ kill (Pun intended).  Walking into my favorite local haunt, with hopes of doing an hour or so of work on the ole' laptop, now results in a sinus headache and me leaving one of my favorite places. :-(  (He too appears to be a "Camper" (someone who spends hours at the place) so there is no avoiding him this last week!!!)

THANK YOU - those of you - Who know how to properly apply/wear their colognes.

To the young or uninitiated, please, a dab on your pulse points is all you need.  I should NOT be able to smell you from 15' away.

A good rule of thumb - I should NOT be able to smell you until I am in "Reading Distance of the Watch Brand on your Wrist."

Again, thanks for the common courtesy...  Carry on. :-)

  4. I have been using 10 winder bays for 6 years without an issue.

It puts no more wear on the watch then driving a car or walking down the street.

It is a must for my 1570 powered Rolex's without a quick set date.

Edit to add:  Continually unscrewing a crown with a screw-down crown, and pulling the stem to set the watch is probably going to lead to more issues than leaving them running in the winder ~ with an every other month "adjust the date - tweak the time" (28/30/31).

  5. Geothermal, baby.  Here in Alaska we're surrounded by active volcanoes and there's unlimited thermal energy straight down.  It's simple, cheap, and an earthquake (that goes hand in hand with being on the Ring of Fire) is not devastating.

    +1

Just got back from Iceland!  The hole country runs on Geothermal.  Despite the arctic temperatures, heating buildings was a non-issue.  Most shops kept their doors wide open despite 0' C temperatures.

  6. I said in a previous.  I remember when the Porsche 356 Club would cry outrage over the Speedster & 550 Replicas.  Now there are no fewer than FIVE manufacutures of these Replicar's.

I know Porsche owners who leave their "bias ply tire" "trailer queen" 356's in their garage, and only go take to the occasional car show.  Meanwhile, they have come around and for daily FUN and excitement, are driving their (VW or Subaru powered) Speedster Replicar with big grins on their face.

The Porsche community (mostly) have come around.  Time for the VRF/Rolex Fanatics to come around as well.

  7. Don't movements still have serial numbers (where year manufactured can be deduced from)?

Sort of.  Rolex has never released that info, so it is all speculation.  Also, the RSC might have legitimately swapped a movment or the bridge with SN.

The simple fact, unlike say a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, that spells out matching numbers, etc. No such luck with Rolex. So all the uptight a$$hole fanatics when it comes to "OMG! Your Rolex has been modified" can all Piss off.
