  1. amazing works guys! You should all be very proud! I am always inspired by this thread. Dizzy, sounds like a great project. As far as your crown guards are concerned, I think you are correct. To the best of my knowledge, only the early 1960's 5512 and 5513's had the pointed crown guards. The 5514's were limited to 150 pieces in production in 1967! In any event, shaping them is not an easy task to perform by any means and I am anticipating pictures. Mind sharing the mods to your mbw bracelet? Is it riveted? cheers!
  2. ^^^apologies, but this gave me a brief chuckle!
  3. Amazing watch and taste! If you wouldn't mind sharing, I would love to see more pictures of it when you get a chance! A great timepiece!
  4. lol, that's quite ok! apologies, I totally misunderstood your post! I have recommended this watch to my brother who cares not much of watches, but could use a decent watch in the $100 price range. Alligoat, I was curious as to why the Invicta coin edge bezels had been replaced with the Omega style ones, thanks for the info! The sub/omega morph makes me think of Alien Resurrection... see the resemblance?
  5. I also am confused why we get so many people asking about other sites... Between ALL the trusted sellers on this site, you can pretty much get anything that any one of those UNTRUSTED sites can. So why take the risk? Is it worth $20? Not in my book, but to each their own.
  6. Wow TJ, amazing! Like night and day....or ss and titanium! I am happy to see someone such as yourself take pride and appreciation for such things. Congrats! "wear it well!"
  7. Quite on the contrary, I think this watch is very nice with a $100 price tag compared to many of out reps in the same price range. With the cyclops, I would say it's more of a submariner than a sea dweller. The quality control of Invicta I would imagine is at least present in some form or another. That cannot be said for many dropshipped products. Also, Invicta provides a warranty for their watches as well. How many times have you read a person on this forum has had a malfunction with their movement? It would not be cost effective for Invicta to provide service to all of their watches if they were having similar quality control issues. As far as styling, many of the modern watches that you find in department stores use designs from the more expensive, older companies in some form or another. Go to a jeweler that does not sell Breitlng, Rolex, etc but still has $500-1000 watches. You will see that these designs will have you thinking "oh, that one looks like a datejust, or that's a jubilee style bracelet, or that one looks like a montebrilliant dial" etc. also, you can find a $12 submariner looking wathc at walmart as well.
  8. Congrats on the beautiful timepiece! I enjoyed reading this thread and just previously expressed similar sentiments. It appears to me that many people find this forum just to buy a rep watch, wear it and move on. And then there seems to be this smaller group who actually stay on this site (larger than my pathetic post count!) and enjoy the hobby of creating a timepiece that make this forum what it is today. I can agree that the enjoyment I get is from researching, reading, comparing pictures, getting info from members with great amounts of knowledge, and putting it all together. The finished piece then is a work of art that attests to your efforts combined with other members, and can be worn on your wrist and admired, day after day. Enjoy your gen, I think it is important to have in your collection. I find that the gen gives homage to our hobby. Owning one to me is a sign of respect for this hobby...because without it, this hobby would not have brought so much joy to yourself and others alike. wear it in good health and CONGRATS!!!
  9. I like your viewpoint and I can totally understand. However, my watch is a hobby. My enjoyment comes from modding the watch towards a genuine article, not the intent of trying to fool people. I love the details and am fascinated by them, and this hobby give me a great way to appreciate those details. I love the genuine articles, but they are not very interactive. There is nothing for me to do with them besides wear them and appreciate them. So I enjoy my rep for a different reason....it's my frankenstien....something I built. It is more a working and wearable piece of art that is a reflection of my efforts to strive for perfection and dedication to creating the piece. And these are things that I see as a sign of respect for the hobby. warm regards,
  10. Interesting, Can you share your pics of your gen 91350 at the angle you are looking for along with the wm9's so we can see what you are talking about? I can throw up a new noob SEL clasp in the same angle to match yours. Or are you looking more for a gen setup? I have a wm9 bracelet on the way if you need another to compare to.
  11. Ah yes, I did read the thread with Stilty and you about the retaining ring problem/bezel problem. To solve the problem of pulling the crystal and retaining ring off, I merrily just removed the bezel and took a file to the retaining ring and worked my way around it. Sadly, mine was definitely a problem with the bezel preventing the insert from sitting properly. I'd like to see you acquire a gen bezel to go with the gen ring! I have been shopping the bay for the gen assemblies, but they are pretty pricey at the moment to say the least!
  12. Nice, great insight and I could not have said it better! With things in this thread being said, a watch can be your chance to express yourself, your taste, and some of your values. Let that be your guide more so than the price. The value to you it's what's important, not necessarily the month's worth of wages. Like the engagement ring...I don't think I could put a set amount on that. To me, the right woman would be priceless, so if I had to make payments my whole life it would be worth it to me.
  13. With all the help you have provided this forum The Zigmeister, I could never imagine you have time for anything else! Thank you and for the other members such as yourself that are the cornerstones and foundation of this hobby for me and many others! warm regards,
  14. I am in total agreement with you. Less is more rings true for so many more things than just watches, just like the example of the cars mentioned. Whether it's the flavor of a fine wine, or the rests in between the notes of a Miles Davis solo, I am in admiration of understated elegance.
  15. ^^^^The lord knows I am happy for you but I hate reading these kind of things! Without modding my genuine insert, it sat really high and would just fall out of the euromariner bezel. I had to HEAVILY sand down my BRAND NEW gen insert to make it fit. I tried sanding the bezel first since it is the cheaper part than the gen bezel insert, but I wasn't having much luck removing material from it. Mind renting out your tap for a week?
  16. thank you freddy for this information. Dishonest sellers have been around and will continue to require true enthusiasts much more time and research to thawrt the efforts of the scammers. I am still upset seeing a bazillion rolex sub anchors on ebay, knowing that they are all fake, and the sellers were getting over $20 for each of them! Gosh they are making a killing!
  17. WOW! Amazing pics mate! What camera are you shooting with? I am truly impressed! (oh, and nice watch too!) wear it well!
  18. Hi vlydog, I'm not quite sure I follow you. Did you order an wm9 or did you receive it? I'm assuming you ordered it and that's why you are in need of pics. apologies for my confusion! But, it is my experience with handling the gen no-date sub with the non-sel bracelet and the gen date sub with sel's, that the clasps function the same. The link in your post is a very nice comparison!
  19. ^^^as far as research has shown me, the watchmaterial pearl is the best one. And that is the one in comparison to the gen in my photo! Next to the gen, the watch material pearl is kinda silly. I feel embarrassed to have worn my euromariner in public with the eurobezel and the watchmaterial pearl now! I didn't know what I was missing until I handled a gen! Granted, the watchmaterial is better than most reps, but, the gen insert with the pearl is worth the $100+ price tag IMO. One of the biggest tells IMO is the pearl, since it's NEVER been repped that well.
  20. Hey alligoat, did you have to countersink your case? Do you have a pic to share?
  21. Thanks mates! As soon as I get my wm9 LV I will for sure get pics up on it. (lord knows that is going to take a lot of patience for it!) Currently I am waiting on a wm9 bracelet to compare it with the noob.
  22. Hey guys, don't know if this will help, but I figured I'd make this for the people who may find it useful for whatever WIS reasons that no one else would understand! However, I must preface that I have seen varying quality of Euromariners in the past few months. Some were great, and others not so great(to say the least!) Some are equipped with different crowns and tubes, so please take that into consideration for this comparison. Here is the crown. Not too bad! Very subtle differences. The tube of the crown where the stem screws in is noticeably thicker on the gen. It does accept the rep stem. The tubes have obvious differences in design. enjoy!
