  1. This one caught my eye, its absolutely hopeless. The different coloured sub dials and hands are truly horrendous IMO…. Reminds of the crappy pam reps with moon phase dials, not sure why but it does. The black face Daylight’s looked okay.
  2. Congratulations Alan. Still waiting for that Monaco (Just kidding about the Monaco)
  3. The best place to do some research on original Red Submariners is: Red Watckes (Click Me)
  4. G'day Mossanti, welcome aboard. I'm another Aussie from Sydney.
  5. There's an interesting discussion at Paneristi about Elliot dealing with us. The general consensus is that we are low life scum for wearing reps/fakes. While I can understand them being defensive about Panerai. The fact of matter is that in my opinion Panerai's are incredibly expensive for what you're getting and by the sheer number of replica's available they seem pretty easy to counterfeit. Even though Panerai has been around for quite some time it really is the Richmont group who have created the Panerai phenomenon. Prior to that they basically made a small number of watches for the Italian navy. I dont think they were all that well known until Sylvester Stallone came across them in the Panerai boutique in Florence. Personally, I love the simplicity and size of a Panerai but I'll be interested to see what the resale value of Panerai is in 10 years time. NB. Really isn't advisable to get involved in this discussion over there. These guys are passionate about Paneria and there is no need to infuriate them.... but it sure is fun to watch.
  6. TTK used to stock Monaco reps but the quality was just ok compared to the original... nice watch wear it well.
  7. This is all getting very heated but I can't believe that nobody has asked about Veni12's new avatar...
  8. Rolex Submariner. My dad gave his on my 21st Birthday, see picture.
  9. Hi I guess I'm one of the rats fleeing the old RWG.. It's great to be here.
  10. Most of you have probably seen this site but for those who haven't this is probably the best guide to Red Rolex Submariners. Click the link below. Red Watches
  11. @ By-Tor Thanks. There is nothing wrong with forgeries in my opinion. The last Rolex AD service cost a $1000 (Australian). For that I got a new crystal, bezel insert, hands and a service. They also brushed and polished the case. Unfortunately they didn't return the hands which had a nice patina to them but apparently this is standard practice but I wish they had left the old hands on. The watch has an interesting history. It was purchased by my dad while we were on holidays in Italy in 1973 (however its a 1970 build, apparently it had been sitting in the window for 3 yrs), I was five at the time and still remember him pointing to it in the window and haggling for a better price. Anyway he gave it to me for my 21st birthday present. I'm planning on doing the same. Anyway enjoy your 1680.
  12. Excellent, very close to the original. Here's a shot of my original 1680, I've had this watch for over 30 years.
