  1. Sweet, how can its history be checked now that the Rolex registry is no more?
  2. Hi I've seen a sea dweller can the eagle eyes amongst you confirm it's genuine? Thanks.
  3. Am I correct in thinking that gen lug holes are 2mm?
  4. May it's because the crystal retaining ring hasn't pushed down as tightly as before. Is there a proper tool for this job?
  5. Thank star I'll give it a go, bezel turns fine with out the washer, all be it a bit roughly.
  6. Changed the crystal with a clarks t19 and I must say it looks much better, sorry no pics as I'm on my iphone. Only problem is the retaining ring was tight and my bezel doesn't turn, is this a normal issue or have I done something wrong? By the way don't have a crystal press but managed to get ring and crystal on by other means.
  7. This could be a great thread if others could add some pics and info on any early reps from years gone by they have tucked away.
  8. I have a gen 7mm crown, but need to buy a 7030 tube as the crown doesn't fit the stock one. My question is does the standard 7030 tube tool fit the stock one as I need to buy one. Also can someone let me know the process of crystal removal and fitting. All the best Simon
  9. Do you think this vintage crown would have been on the gens and would it fit? it's dimensions are: 5,30D x 5,60H mm [1 inch = 25.4 mm]. 'D' refers to the crown's diameter [from one side of the circle to the other side of the circle]. 'H' refers to the crown's height [from the bottom of the crown to the top of the crown; i.e. from where it screws to the stem to the top of the logo side]. The tap dimension is 0.90mm
  10. Your right, but for the money it's affordable modding especially for beginners like me.
  11. Yuki has a 7mm used gen crown and tubes for sale on his site for $60 are these the correct ones? If so they seem cheaper that I thought.
  12. Ha Ha, This is really affordable with great results. Where did you get crown and tube?
  13. I,m impressed at how good these are looking with minimal work. Your right about the bleaching, you went to town on it Where did you get your strap from? Can't decide on 5512 or 5513 so ordered both at this price.
  14. That's pretty good Frank, did you do the cg's and change the crystal yet?
  15. Is the bezel easily popped off on these? I can never seem to do it, but I have read threads where people say they have done it with ease. I have a tool kit I will buy a crystal press and start there and look into a new tube and crown at a later stage (one step at time).
  16. What tools are involved? Also what's the difference between 5512 and 5513's ?
  17. I've been following this thread and love the idea of having a go at doing the mods on it myself how ever I don't have much experience. How easy is it for a novice to replace crystal, crown and tube? Also what's the reason for changing the crystal? And are there decent ones other than gen ones? I'd love this thread to continue and see some working progress on these watches. All the best Simon.
  18. I thought the WM9 dial had the flat "S"
  19. Looking good, thanks for having the balls to post your QC pics TK. I can't believe the audacity of the dealers, if they stand behind there products then they should be more than happy to show them off.
  20. Looking in to buying another panerai after my first successful purchase of the new 219, but have been looking at what DSN has to offer and I have to say he has some beautiful looking pieces. I especially like the vintage range he does, but are the new wave of cartel reps we're seeing better or is DSN's still worth the extra cash, which I have to say seem reasonably priced especially with a Swiss movement. Input greatly appreciated. Simon.
  21. sorry about the download speed I'm still new to starting threads with photos and attaching files is a nightmare so have set up a photobucket account.
  22. I think your right although there's some beautiful straps available there seems to be a general theme with them and sometimes its nice to attempt something different.
  23. Got it from a new strap maker over on RWI called Prime Straps and he goes by the name of Crocodile, heres his links. http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/forumdisplay.php/prime-straps-241.html http://s747.photobucket.com/albums/xx116/PrimeStraps/ He does all types of hide at good prices too and a great guy to deal with.
