Well, although I started this thread and intended to purchase it around that time, there was some kind of problem with my credit card, plus I was going away on holiday, so I didn't go through with the purchase. I also really wanted the two counter model, as I think the 3 counter is a bit busy, BUT I am still up in the air about it, but may go ahead... I am still on holiday for another 2 weeks, and I will be asking those guts if the 2 counter model will be made in the future... will definately jump on that one!
  2. so johnnyboy... who's the chick on the couch?
  3. Well I'm the guy that sent tedbearz the crown. I put it in a small plastic envelope and then in the regular paper envelope. I also talked to another user that I sent two crowns to with the exact same packaging, he received them, but said there were two small holes in the envelope. I think we definately got burned here, so I think the best solution, is Nanuq's and others... I was thinking about doing this in the first place, but wanted to hear some other opinions as well. Thanx guys Sorry for the problem tedbearz, please look for 50% refund in your PP account soon... I hope I can remember my PP account details, I am on holiday in Thailand at the moment and do not have *my* laptop with me.
  4. Mark knows I'm in ... put me down for one crystal AR coated.
  5. Panerai on Europelli Black Baseball.... so black, and soft, and velvety, and beautiful
  6. Hey! I'm rep liking too! Welcome :-)
  7. Such a shame to almost get scammed... especially by a member here. I have searched throught this forum, P and VP and haven't seen anything like your experience hyou write... Can you show us what you're talking about?
  8. PAM 063 and PAM 188... where did you get these, I haven't seen this version of the 188 before.
  9. I'm in... if they are good, I already bought crowns from Lello that my watchmaker refused to install. I have an 029, a 196, a 192 waiting. As I explained earlier, these must be BROACHED... milling would be uneconomical and would not leave a finish similar to genuine IMO
  10. 45 going on.... 14... according to my better half. Peter Pan syndrome with a vengeance
  11. Although I hate to bring this to the top (yet again): @kanerich Why bump this??? This is old news and everyone's over it by now hence the date of the last post
  12. I can't believe that you paid $2,400 for a watch from a guy with 0 feedback, that's the first no-no Besides that, $2400 for a genuine 183??!! Someone's gonna take a huge bath and for some strange reason, I don't think it's going to be THE ZERO FEEDBACK SELLER
  13. The only gen Panerai tourbillon you'll se is this one: Apparently, there are only two or three in existance... Besides this any other you'd see are fakes, and really really bad ones at that. Have a good read here and don't emabarass yourself wearing one of them, no matter how much you're drawn to it
  14. Yes... nam prik pra lat is issan (east) and hot as all hell.... smells like [censored] but tastes so nice (they say lol) once you get used to it. Nam prik ong is northern and not quite as fiery, but that's what got to me, maybe a combo of the hot weather and the food that I hadn't had in a while is what sent my insides to hell. You're definately right about what you're used to, us pasteurized farangs just can't take the hammering that some of the south east asian foods offer, no matter how big we think our balls are... but once you get used to it, they are very nice.
  15. Welcome back Tommy, sorry to hear about your loss Keep your head up buddy and remember all good things
  16. I've been going to Thailand one or two times every year for the past six years... Lived there about 15 years ago. I've been sick there once, 2 years ago and had a few days in the hospital with mild food poisoning. I gotta say that I was very impressed with the hospital and service compared to 'some' western hospitals. I am glad I stayed at the hospital, having a toilet so close sure is handy in that situation.... We sort of traced it to Nam pik Ong (red spicy meaty curry dippy stuff) which I got from a street vendor that I have been eating from for years. My wife ate from the same batch and didn't get sick at all.... I think it may also have to do with what you're used to. It can happen anywhere though, I've been just as sick (or maybe more, yuk) from fine restaurants in other countries.
  17. That's really too bad Twotone, I feel for ya! Hope everything ends up alright ;-)
  18. I would think that these crowns are broached rather than milled (the same process as making gears), it is much more cost effectine and leaves a better finish between the teeth. This may be why they are so difficult to create by milling, the tool has to come to a very sharp point and stay sharp after cutting many parts. A broach would remain sharp for a much longer time. These could be created perfectly by broaching, and I'm willing to look into getting them made by this method if someone is able to provide me with engineering drawings of the crown.
  19. Nice 187 Richard... How big is your wrist and how do you like this beauty?
  20. Well Gran... In my mind, you're back in... It took a lot of balls for you to enter this thread with your armor off and your white flag waving, I salute you. Just to let you and all know, the reason for me starting this thread was not to be hurtful in any way... These questions had to be asked, and I believe Gran has answered all to the best of his ability... and with his heart. As someone earlier said, it takes time to build bridges... So take your time and build a strong one. You are so lucky to have so many supporters here, as I am sure you do in your outside-of-the-forum real life, don't take advantage of that. Again Gran, welcome back, all the best to you and yours, and I pray for your continuing speedy recovery
