  2. This is not a mix up, or a gen vs copy issue, it's the fact that there are many variants in these movements, and you can't assume that everything is the same just from looking at one or two watches. If I order a 2892 or 2893 datewheel from my supplier, I get a flat one, there are no options for others...and each and every 2892 series I have seen, or have in my spares bins is flat. So it would appear the recessed ones are not the norm, but the exception.

What should have been done, was to find out what style the owner had in his watch, and send the correct one, flat or recessed.

From what I am reading, it seems that the recessed ones 'may' fit in any of the movements, but the movements that require the recess could not take the flat one, as the recess is there for clearance to another component of the watch... Is this correct?

  3. Looks like Joshua is planning on launching the current version.

    Well, that's really cool (NOT)...

Angus starts this thread and keeps us updated all the way through with specs and progress, in touch with the manufacturer all the way through, and YOU come out with a link to the competition's web site...

If that's not the epitome of thread crapping, I don't know what is. Shame on you.

  4. Well, for whatever reason... Andrew has withdrawn from the discussion for some time now, and no others have picked up the ball to run with it.

I commend him for having the balls to speak up... but slap them all for lying to us.

I am quite sure that they are covering their heads in their bunkers waiting for the storm to pass... as it did with the White Lies thread.

IMO, the White Lies thread was their warning, and they chose not to comply by leaving their advertisements unchanged.

We can continue to talk about this for another 16 pages, but I reckon what is deemed needs doing needs to be done swiftly, and loudly.

  5. Really guys... the profanity should stop, no need to goto that level, it's just not a good look :shutup2:

I'm glad Andrew has been part of this discussion, it would be better to come clean so we can get back to what we're here for.

Andrew, I know it's a hard business you're in, but that's the path you've chosen and we are your customers... Treat us with honesty and respect and we will return the sentiment.

When I order a watch, I want what I pay for... If I order an eta movement, I want that and am happy to pay for that (as I have in the past)

If the said watch comes with something other than what I ordered, I don't want the watch... No trustie, no watchy... Pure and simple...

  6. Well this is a safe haven so we don't get scammed.

I have been screwed once not getting what I paid for; If it happens again, shame on me... and shame on everyone here buying reps from those moving away from honest selling practices.

The fiasco with the B&R $2 movement is just that. No way in the world was this a mistake, it was a move to gain financial advantage by deception.

I have aleady voted with my feet, I highly suggest everyone thinks very carefully who they buy from from now on.

Don't give in to this new 'business model'... it will only hurt everyone in the end.

  7. I just received mine a few days ago... I agree, it IS a beauty!

I have already received 2 compliments on it, one from my wife (who don't hand out compliments on my watches unless she REALLY likes them) and one from a complete stranger at a cafe.

    Problems I've found so far:

The movement stopped when the chrono was running.

    The power reserve was horrible

The crown was very difficult to screw down

The watch was winding whilst screwing the crown down.

I will give the movement a week to break in, hopefully this alleviates the PR problem and chrono stopping

The crown/tub interface is a big concern to me, will do a few more times over the next week or so whilst breaking the watch in.

Other than these issues, It's a great watch, qualtity of case/dial, and bracelet are amongst the best I've seen.

  8. I too agree: Zenith and JLC have models from around 4k with complications placed completely differently from the eta and so on cn mvts.

They should never be repped, unfotunately. :wounded1:

    Cheers

    Stephane

I agree as well, you'll be safe with both JLC and Zenith. You can pick up a really nice zenith open chrono for around 5k, ar a JLC master compressor.

Another brand you might be interested in is Kobold... I have a Spirit of America coming soon, but some of the PVD chronos they have are simply amazing looking, and built like a tank.

Another brand I don't see mentioned anywhere much is Damasko, cool tool watches along the same line as Sinn.
