  1. 6.75" wrist here too... Panerai fits perfect on my wrist. My Omega SMP Pro is now too small andthe Sea-Dweller looks like a girl's watch on.

I can not, although, wear a Fiddy or any 47mm+, they just look cartoonish on me IMO

avitt is correct though, there are different types of wrists and all above atributes will contribute to the aesthetics of the watch you're wearing.

I also think that your build AND what clothes and how you wear them will make a big difference.

  2. This watch, dubbed "The Fang" in other fora, may not be *all that* in the photos... But as Quarks says, that watch is a whole different animal in person, almost blew my credit card on that but quickly was slapped back to reality by my better half :bangin:

I highly doubt they will come even close to this in a rep... if they do, I will join ravishingrick in a shorts eating contest.

Manual wind, GMT, Power reserve (8 whole days) ,night/day display, AND date!

  3. Don't worry.. it's coming.. We just have the stack the dominos just right,..

If this watch were first.. the stack be in mis-aligment and the line would end

    prematurely.. it's too top heavy..

To be honest, our 2nd request was supposed to be Total Dress...

but I shifted it to Sports-Tool... just because of the all the drama over this

    Sea Hawk...

So please... everyone.. have patience,.. All good things, that are good things,

    require Patience, & Timing ^_^

There was drama over the Sea Hawk? What drama?

Should we have a who wants a dress watch poll? I don't wear a dress, so I'll vote no

  4. Just took delivery of this great piece, just different enough to tip me over the edge and buy it.

I really like destros, one reason on the practicality side and not having a crown or CG digging into the back of your hand, but the other for its aesthetics with seconds at 3 and crown at 9 makes changing watches so much less boring  ...

It took all of six days for Joshua to get this to me here in Oz... Not bad at all! Thank you Joshua, you've been perfect again!! :)

The strap pictured isn't what comes with the 239, I just had to get the OEM yellow coramid strap, I thought it to be the perfect match for this watch.

    The Watch:

The crown on this baby is GREAT!!! Nice and thick and sits right up against the case. Closing the CG lever pushes it tight against the seal, I haven't WP tested it yet, but I suspect it's pretty good.

The CG is also excellent on this and is a true destro CG with the lever pointing towards 12:00!!! Other destros we have are facing towards 6:00, which is wrong. The lever also closes perfectly flush with the outside diameter of the CG, which is one thing that I've seen mixed results with some of our reps. Thank you manufacturers for this! :D

Date wheel font is a not bold enough, maybe Lello will have a fix for us soon on that.

Cyclops is much bigger than previous models and much closer to gen... Could be a bit stronger, but no big deal really.

Hour markers and lume seem to be perfectly applied and of good quality. The lume seems to be brighter than what we are used to in other models, as it glows bright right out of daylight, but of course dies down quickly in comparison to gen C3.

    163601-11760.jpg

The bezel is tight and the twelve detents click in perfectly. Well done.

    163601-11761.jpg

These are powered by the new a7750/28,800, I suspect that the bugs are out of this movement now and have several models running it with no probs whatsoever.

The back is engraved very well... even came with a beautifully done extra fine TRL (not pictured sorry).

    163601-11762.jpg

    Caveats:

One unfortunate thing I've noticed on this right away is the polishing job between the lugs... It's not very good, but nothing that some scotch brite of a dremel can't fix.

    163601-11763.jpg

The bezel and metal indicator dots could be finished off a little nicer too. On the gen, the dots are polished on the tops. These still have machine marks, another oversight that could be avoided without too much effort. The pearl is *fair*, but would have to look at a gen to make a fair comparison.

    Conclusion:

    Great piece, IMO...

Since it's new, I'll be wearing it for the next few days to see how the new relationship pans out, but all in all, I think it's an excellent Panerai rep for the casually inclined!

With a few mods like polish, relume, and maybe AR coat, this will be one of the top Panerai reps out there!

  5. Thanks for that!

I would think that we should get what we can wien we can, because the closer we get to 2008 (Olympics in China), the more they're going to crack down to give the world the illusion that they're trying to do something.

We just may be in the golden age of reps after all.... But after '08... WOW, they'lll have the perfect rep (of what, who knows) out.

  6. In light of marks trials and tribulations w/ the PAM wheels we decided to finish the 2836 vintage wheels first. These are in final production and will be available soon. So if you want to see the general quality and accuracy (including true 1:1 "printing") of our way of doing things, check out ubi's "Watchmen Vintage Datewhwwls v3.0) thread.

Since Mark's project won't be coming out for a while and since he's not going to do any 7750's, we're going to go ahead and do a production run of the asia 7750. We're tweaking the gen datewheel image to make them look more accurate w/ rep cyclopses (the time frame of which largely depends on my available free time).

The good news is that the time frame beween giving the production shop the go ahead and recieving the finished products can be as low as a few days depending on their workload.

Just a question on the A7750s...

One of the main problems with these is that they are so far from the dial, a pretty good give-away IMO, at least on the Panerai models I have seen/owned (196, 188, 168 etc)

Is it feasible to make a ring that can be applied to the date wheel to bring the date closer to the dial, or will this interfere with another part of the watch?

  7. I had this one for a while. IMO, it looks very cool in person but I thought the case felt cheap, the lugs are only held on with a screw and just never felt right. Also, you can’t wind it at all. The crown is perfectly smooth, so unless you have the rubber gloves on you have to wear it all the time.

Well just as I thought, Invicta couldn't come through with a quality product... To me, it looks really good and it uses a real sapphire insert to hold the movement... Pretty innovative :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Too bad the [censored]tards just can't get it right and they come out with another el-cheapo piece of kaka.

I'lll go back in my hole now, slap myself a few times, and let my instincts drive me :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  8. I don't know about you guys, but I've always had a really bad taste in my mouth when it comes to Invicta.... I just never liked their watches (much), but always have disliked them as a company...

I don't know if the quality is great or so so, but *to me* this watch is a thing of beauty, and very original in design and use of materials. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Here is the Invicta Sapphire Ghost 2701:

What do you guys think? :whistling:

  9. All I know is that the 2893 date wheels should be ready from Mark shortly. I have already committed to getting one from him, so that commitment will stick.

Everyone is free to do what they want, it's a free market, too bad that there was a double up on the 2893, but the market (albeit quite small) will sort itself out.

Now, if you have DWs coming for the asian 7750 that is perfectly aligned, I'm sure there'll be some takers there that won't conflict with what's already been done.

  10. The SuperLuminova is really expensive and the factories are not willing to do it. But if someone can supply the lume and I can do the re-lume for them.

What if a bunch of people were to chip in on SL for the watches we want? A gram is about $100, but that much may do 3-4 watches... If that is the case, I'd much rather have it done in real Tritec SL than relume, it's always better by machine.

If this is feasible, please let's have a show of hands... Obviously, we have to find out from the manufacturer if this can be done with the printing methods they use.

I tried both the Cousteau divers and the yellow/steel today with Quarks (he was ALL giddy over the white gold Portuguese with gray dial :Jumpy:

These watches are just stunning in the flesh and wear soooo well!!! I can't wait to see these coming out of here :thumbsupsmileyanim::thumbsupsmileyanim:

  11. Well now we can build the Sea Hawk.....:D

    YES!!!

I'm on this... so fast, my wife is gonna kill me :bicycle:

@PT... Your watches are coming out at an amazing pace, and they are great choices!!! Keep this up and I'll be living under a bridge selling banana skins

Can the manufacturers do genuine Tritec Super Luminova?

I know the material is expensive, but I would think the extra cost would be relatively minimal and surely much more precise than sending them out to get redone.

  12. @James... You're a teaze :bleh: But I am extremely happy to have the very last one on earth :Jumpy: I may frame it  Thanks buddy ! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

@OiRogers: I am sorry sir, whiskey is from Satan

@crystalcranium: One reason I like vodka is because no matter how much I drink, I get no hangover whatsoever :)

@Quarks... Thanks for stopping me from flooring that moron bouncer

The best part of that story is I will get over my short lived drunken state, but he will still be a half witted moron that has to pay people to respect him :bounce::thumbsupsmileyanim:

@All I am never, ever going to drink again ;) (jk)
