  1. Thank you for sharing your experience. Valuable info! Modifying a dial could prove of even more general interest than darkening Ti, IMHO. Be warned about tossing a whole watch in a warm/hot bath: water resistance is not assured at high temperatures, as metal (case parts) expands much more than rubber (o-rings & gaskets). I believed that percarbonate was the active ingredient in that cleaner, as 'per-' compounds (perborate, percarbonate...) develop oxygen so to perform oxidation.
  2. Uhmm.... maybe I added to the general confusion here. Apologies: I myself got quite confused -- and still I am. Just some words as an explanation: at first I only saw the watch dial, on TTK's post. Not being able to look at the caseback, I considered it a 228 (with flawed inscriptions) because of the blue dial and subdial and the SS case. Then I saw the caseback, and it was consistent with the 089. So I considered it a mix 089/228, but more likely a 089 with a different (unaccurately repped) dial color and a different case material. Then I found a line on Paneristi's site that said that F series (of 089) added a bracelet (like this watch actually has) and a new dial. So my confusion was now complete -- and still it is. I have been unable in finding any further info so far.
  3. You may have the green one (which is a beauty anyway) -- but the red one is MINE!
  4. It's a steal! Congrats! In the meanwhile, I got a Bob sharkskin @ 14.99 s/h included The 2nd watch is clearly from Dali's.
  5. Some added info on a similar rep I saw (unsure if it was the same model by TTK, though): Movement: 7750 -- like gen Caseback: unconsistent with 228, as it said: ocean chronometer OP6554 (which is from PAM 088 and 089) F00xx/2200 (more consistent with 089 than 228) Reconsidering the whole thing on those new info, this watch is closer to a 089 than a 228. Sort of a 089 in SS and with blue dial and subdial. A 089/228 bastard. But... on Paneristi's site they say: "The F (2003) series added a further bracelet model with a new dial" ...still, the titanium issue is not trivial... Uhm.... more search needed...
  6. Thanks Warren. Table is already there, ready for you -- and for anyone who wants it. Btw, please remember to give me that info that you know...
  7. Am I the only PAM nuts here? It is a PAM 228, a stunning piece and very well repped (with exception for the writings: 'FIRENZE' missing and 'Automatic' added). Congrats, TTK! Do you plan to sell it/them? (btw, I found it in my PAM table v2.1, posted here).
  8. Thanks for the advice, Mahler! I more recently found some magic markers (Promarker by Letraset) that seem well suited for the need. They come in tons of nuances - even a bright yelllow declared as 'gold'. Surely your solution is better - even if a little less easy - and I'll come to it if the outcome by the markers should not result to my appointment. (Now making a bookmark on this post). Mmmm... don't think so.
  9. You are welcome, glad if this will turn out useful, let us know.
  10. I'll welcome you as soon as you'll remember what PAM models you own...
  11. I seem to remember that a member found screws that fitted not from a watchsmith, but from an optician / eyeglass shop.
  12. I wonder how one can have sex with two women at the same time whichever they are. Either you need two penises, or a very long penis (in which case the nearest of the two women is also going to get seriously hurt).
  13. @ ravishingrick: ugh, actually jimmyzfu's was the only one I did not try on my own. I was speaking on what I heard from other members' experiences. On what you say, now I wonder whether they were including jimmy's crystals in those experiences. On the other hand, the crystal I got from exclusive_discount_uk along with their case is a gorgeous one, thick, and AR coated. Even my watchsmith (who is fitting the new sapphire cyclops on it to reassemble my 028A) complimented about it. I have not it in my hand right now (I should have it again tomorrow), but I am quite positive it was 35.5 mm. @ kritz: stay away from x-jewelry! Even better, do a search here and look. I am going to file a dispute on them, or to leave a negative feedback at least, as soon as I'll be done with the mail exchanging with them about the issue. From them I got a class crystal (tested with 4 different tests, including thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity with proper tools), thin, and even low-quality as a glass (lots of whitish inclusions). Barely usable even as a glass crystal. And yes, it was advertised as sapphire. Btw: even the advertised gasket was missing.
  14. Wow, please share where you found it as this is valuable info to many members (me included )! So far I know exclusive_discount_uk , x-jewelry, and jimmyzfu. All from eBay. exclusive_discount_uk (i.e. Homer): great quality at great price. But you have to buy the whole case along with the crystal. x-jewelry: 10 USD + 12 USD s/h. ---> Got glass, not sapphire. jimmyzfu: great quality at good price.
  15. snow, I am a complete ignorant in Ro|ex, but this is one of the most beautiful watches I ever saw. It is making me even consider to enter into the Ro|ex world. Congratulations really!
  16. That makes me remember of a certain smoking gun finding...
  17. I also seem to remember that the gasket on which the crystal sits, and that seals the crystal, is made of teflon -- at least this is what my watchsmith told me.
  18. Yes, you are right. Actually, 'maiale' is just the Italian word for 'pig'. Italian assaulter on WWII rode torpedoes resembling like hot-dogs without bread (i.e. wurstels), but given the fascist rejection of any anglophone words they were simply called 'maiali' (plural for 'maiale').
  19. I already told of my transactions with Davidsen, so here I just agree YES! HE IS A FRIEND AND AN ASSET TO THE COMMUNITY!
