  1. @ robideaux, it looks oem to me. my recently purchased genuine 091 came with this exact same box. i am at work now but here is a picture poor picture from the actual auction. good score!

(a little hijacking) wheaton, where the heck have you been hiding so far? We missed your tales and writing skills!

  2. Here are some quick shots, mainly wristshots, of my two new babies from Josh.

    The 147:

    And the 104 -- w/ Lello's crown and self-customized Don's strap.

Notice: this watch has a 7mm cyclops!

(And, besides of the watch, please have a look at the strap too):

This watch came with quite a good black leather strap on its own, but I just had my 1st trying at strap customizing and this made for a too good occasion to resist.

I think the result is not bad at all, but what do you think of it you strap experts? Do you like the light-green stitching matching the dial markers?

I also managed to fit a double deployant clasp (Homer's courtesy) on it -- a 4mm thick strap. To anyone interested, what made the trick is leaving the buckle's small tubes out (else you'll get in troubles when closing the clasp):

  3. I have a case and tube from jimmy and just pressed it in by holding the movement and pushing the tube against my table. It didn't seem to take much pressure to put it in. to remove I just used a pair of pliers. I think most of the panerais are just pushed in, but some are actually screwed in so you have to be careful.

Thanks Chris. So far, I gave out right after the first few attempts with pliers as it seemed not work and because I was afraid to scratch the tube's end (just in case the new tube would not fit). Now I'll try with renewed energy.

And thanks for the advice on possibly screwed in tubes, I had no thought about it.

  4. In need of some pointers...

Just recieved my pam case from jimmyfzu. Marvelous 1:1 quality... It comes with the crown tube loose

How do you press the crown tube into the crown tube hole in the case? Do you need any special tools or techniques for this?

    And...

How do you remove an old crown tube from a case???

I tried in order to fit a Davidsen crown + tube, but I have never been able in doing it. :g:

  5. I had just some hundreds in the bank and they all have completely gone. All except a certificate of deposit.

My onhand cash went down too.

Boys, I know this is just a game, but this is the 2nd time it happens and I am getting quite annoyed at it.

    80% taxes are ridicolous.

I am going to post the least I can since now and on, so I'll get less robbed this way.

  6. Great idea, Mahler, and a great step forward from punching every single hole individually with no guideline! :clap2:

    Just two clarifications needed:

Do you mean it just as an improved version of the cardboard outline, or are the nails rather supposed to be fixed to the outline so they can be punched / pressed all at once just by punching / pressing the outline?

How can the screws holding the two outlines together not affect the strap? I seem to understand that they should be placed beyond the strap's ends, correct?

Uhm... I feel some great project is taking shape here... keep up with the good work! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  7. Asian 7750 is the standard movement for 40mm PAMs, where the Asian Auto 21J (rep of Miyota 82xx) would not fit due to its larger size.

You may also find it in some best quality 44mm models (like Joshua's 104 PN10402).

It performs quite well on non-chrono models, as the lacking of additional subdial and function reduces the stress on it.

Yes, 048 and 119 are the same model but different dial color, like 049 too. 050, 051 and 120 are same models but with bracelets rather than straps.

You may find all that info in my PAM table.

Btw, this topic is not supposed to belong to the Photo Gallery. :)

  8. It's true, I've had this problem for a while when it gets hot.

When I was 16 I had a problem with metal frames on glasses and the skin on my face was pretty bad, it was getting dry and hard and peeling off and there was some oozing liquid :(

I wear contacts more now, I think I may try some of that LASIK eye surgery though. Have to stop buying reps so I can afford that though.

Mmmm... sorry about that, Ronnie. Probably you are allergic to nickel embedded in SS rather than to SS itself.

If so, I seem to remember that even titanium is not pure titanium, but a titanium compound with other elements among which nickel can be involved too. On the other hand, titanium compounds are surely less reactive than SS.

Did you already try a test of wearing your Ti watch on summer?

  9. Difference jumps to the eye.

If you use only one-needle the line of the thread is not perfectly continuous neither above neither under the strap.

If you contemporarily use two-needles with an only thread (a needle to a head a needle to the opposite head of the thread) the line of the thread will be continuous both above that under the strap.

Trusted my father and my mother were tailors and I had an industry of wrappings and suits for man and for woman.

    Thanks sssurfer !!!

Thanks to you, Mahler, and even more for your last post with those great pics!

But, just in order to better understand:

I am still missing what makes the two methods differ in their results.

On the following (oversimplified) picture, I would guess that the overall result should be the same.

So, what makes them different is possibly that by the 2-needles method one can apply a more simmetrical tension? Or what?

BTW, congrats on your self-made strap! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  10. I made dozens transactions on the internet with my CC and I never had any single problem.

Only one time I got partially scammed, by a legit company (Glare Busters), and the CC Company (VISA) refunded me to my full appointment.

But I have also to add that, for the sake of my mind and heart peacefulness, I keep my CC on an almost empty bank account that I refill on a monthly basis just with the needed money spent on the last month.
