  1. Oh well... de gustibus non est disputandum. Thanks for your answer, and congrats once again!
  2. It's not 100% accurate, R, as it still is a little darker and matter than the gen. But it is a good step up with respect to the EL version.
  3. Wow, my most favourite thread! Great homages you have there, Mickey! Congrats! I especially love the blue one. Here are mines. 1. The Luminor Moondust (Ti, SL): Together with the Radiomir version, and a lume shot: 2. The Radiomir Moondust (polished + beadblasted SS, SL), with three different shoes: Together with the Surftech: 3. The Golddust (RG, invisible crystal, SL): 4. The Radiobeach, SS version (polished SS, SL): 5. The Radiobeach, RG version (true 7 micron thick RG coat, SL): 6. The Surftech (44mm 1950 case, domed crystal). Uhm, this is not exactly a homage as it shows a brand, still it is a fantasy model and I thought you may like it as well. This was the 1st fantasy PAM I made: Thanks for looking. Hope you enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed making them.
  4. Oh my!... I missed that until now. Better, as I just got a heart attack. Your collection is AWESOME, V.! Just... why not a 203 with that Angelus?
  5. 'cos PAM are 2x better than Rolex.
  6. Also in the gen the recessed PR gauge looks due to a gap in the hobnail texture: It shows better in the 028B that lacks the white border around the PR gauge: ...And yes, in the EL 027 the PR was not recessed, while in the DSN 027 it is correctly recessed. But both the EL and DSN 028 have it correctly recessed. About the seconds hand: even the gens show some variability, but to my eyes the longer EL hand, with the dot placed more outwards, looks a little more accurate. Here are two gens:
  7. Hi Chronus, you are correct on all your remarks, about both the old EL version and this new one from DSN. The EL version (that I actually own) needed a better cyclops, and that is why I made "my" cyclops for the 027 and 028. The DSN version has a cyclops that is almost identical to my cyclops. The DSN version is better for: PVD coat Cyclops Date font (even if a fatter font would have even been better) Lume (both for the color in daylight, that is correct for tritium, and the lume in the dark) Serial number on the back (it is from a gen) Crown (even if not 100% correct, it is thicker than EL crown. What a shame, it looks thinner than it actually is because of too bevelled edges). The EL version was better for: Length of the seconds hand Decorated rotor (but the text was incorrect because of misspelled "OFFICNE" PANERAI, so this is sort of a tie). Under any other respect they show no significant differences to my eyes.
  8. Oh, and about the center second hand instead of small subdial @9... even if I am a lover of the subdial as it looks very Panerai, I have to say that the seconds hand at the center is better: you never happen to be unable to read the seconds because the hour and/or minute hands are covering the subdial. Center second hand and power reserve indicator: the 027 and the 028 are two perfect watches. Probably my most favourite PAMs. Congrats once again, I am really jealous!
  9. This watch is incredible! Wonderful! Awesome! Gorgeous! I see that DSN also corrected his PVD coating for this model, making it a little shinier like the gen. He also improved his cyclops. It does not look on the pics, but I know it as well. I agree: a datewheel with a font a little fatter, and a better crown, and this is a watch that you might proudly wear at a 'risti GTG. Many many congrats!
  10. It's just me, or that watch is gorgeous? I am pretty positive that DSN got good advices while making it. Congrats Mickey! BTW, I fitted a T60 crown on a 7750 DSN case for my 090 project. So there is also good hope that a T crown will fit on this 2892 case as well. Also, I personally think that the DSN crown is not really too thin. It is 'just' too bevelled, too smooth at the edges, and this is giving it that thin look.
  11. Exceptional review/comparison & info here, thanks colorao! It's me, or the Ultimate CG is remarkably different from gen, with a very thinner upper trail (i.e., CG lever placed more upwards)?
  12. Excellent Asian to me. There may be some swiss parts as well. And... PAM bridges and dagger swan neck always are either Asian or genuine Panerai.
  13. Thanks! Just be warned that I mentioned that old post only to support the use of a white background. About the lume itself, I currently recommend Superluminova over any other method, spray lume included. As Superluminova is much smoother and less easy to increase the dial thickness.
  14. Thanks dluddy, glad you like it.
  15. Beautiful! Love this kind of families.
  16. For the fews of you that can read Italian language, I would like to point out a book of a good friend of mine who recently got it published after a 15 years long work. Title: "Coscienza Artificiale" (Artificial Consciousness), Aracne Ed., Roma, 2009. ISBN: 8854823074, ISBN-13: 9788854823075. It explains how our brain/mind works and, differently from any other book in the field, the proposed model is confirmed (well, actually it was developed) by simulations with neural networks and genetic alghoritms. The authors are no phylosophers or psychologists, they are neurologists and neuro-physiologists, with a very concrete background, a teacher and a lecturer in university schools of medicine and engineering. This book is no phylosophy or "just-so" stories, it is a scientific book. My friend told me they are now considering to make a shorter and simpler version in English language, and release it to the public domain as an e-book. I hope they do so, but it will still require a year or two, so to anyone that is interested in the topic and is able -- or has access to anyone able -- to read Italian, I take the liberty to point out this first release too. You may also see a presentation, and download the 1st chapter in pdf (both in Italian, unfortunately), on this webpage. 17. Clone reproduction would put the uman race to extinction unless you also include mutation and crossover into the method. Evolution needs variants to select, but perfect cloning makes perfect copies of the parent being instead. Viruses, bacteria and parasites would keep evolving, while their prey's (us) genomas would stay identical through ages. Viruses, bacteria and parasites would win hands down quite rapidly -- a few thousands years, I would say. A few thousands years are a time long enough to let Medicine discover new ways to cope with viruses, bacteria and parasites, still this would not be enough. You cannot win a mutating enemy (AIDS teaches) if you stay the same. And -- introducing mutation and crossover in reproduction is a problem that the Nature already solved quite efficiently. By selecting sexual reproduction. About the axe murderer issue: even if we could predict the phenotype resulting from a given genotype, this would not be enough to tell a future axe murderer. In the human race, genotype counts only for about 50% of our mind, the remaining 50% being modeled and driven by our individual life and interactions especially with other human beings. And -- welcome back, Miss Understood!
  18. 40mm And, personally, I would go for the high dome Sternkreuz HWS. Last item on this page (code HWS400,
  19. Absolute beauty! The beauty of a 104 w/ sandwich dial and a 1950 case more! Awesome! Congrats!
  20. Here they come: A few shots of the Radiobeach together with the "Moondust", its Titanium Luminor version: Thanks for looking, SSS
  21. Stukov, if you still did not make the relume job: don't use a syringe! Take the two layers apart and go the traditional way. (Been there, done that). Also, I too highly recommend you put a white primer spray beneath the new lume. You may compare how it affects the final lume in this old post of mine: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=20785
  22. Very good to read that! Please keep us posted.
  23. Good luck! A great project! Just, I have doubts about gen lever shape applied to rep CGs...
  24. Maybe -- it just maybe -- I would go back to working. Horribile dictu.
