Davidsen's are lumed with SuperLuminova (SL) and therefore their glowing is like the genuines (not always the same about nuance, though).
All other reps vary between an almost-fake lume and a pretty decent one. Not at the same level of SL, though.
Usually (but not always, e.g. the low-cost 104 from Josh has a decent lume in spite of its low price) the lume quality correlates with the watch price and the collectors' claims for extra-lume, stunning-lume, or so. Be adviced that "super lume" is not a synonim for SL, and "super lumed" is not a synonim for "lumed with SL".
And usually the hands have a better lume than the dial.

Ok, you guys talked me into it. I will be in the states in September and I can get it fixed there.
Great!
I did not realize you have no watchsmith there.
Nevertheless I think your choice is wise.

The 164 is a nice model and a close cousin of one of my favourites, the 104.
I bet this watch will be your daily beater for quite a long time. It keeps great time, and it has one of the best lume around.
Yes, the date is a step back, but I still hope that sooner or later Asian 21J correct datewheels (or stickers) will make their apppearance. Then we'll have a very very good PAM -- not a base model or so -- at less than 150 bucks. Awesome!
In the meanwhile, welcome to the PAM madness! This is not going to be your last PAM.

Not a great issue IMHO.
If global warming is man's responsibility, and the man will not take measures to correct it (and I think he won't) he will just end up as an(other) Nature's failed experiment and he will simply pass the olympic flame to some other species (mice and beetles the best candidates).

C'mon, it's not the end of the world!

I can feel your disappointment, Usil, sorry about that.
Your offer is very tempting, but I can't take it, for several reasons -- last but not least that I would take a benefit from a psychological moment of yours.
Most likely you just messed up with the keyless work (it happened to a lot of watches these days, I wonder why) and, yes, it would make for a 10 mins job for a watchsmith.
Don't give up, it would be a shame!
My best wishes.

The infection was a speculative I think you have a bowel infection, so take these...
A bowel infection?!?
Wow. The bowel is one of the most infected parts of the whole body on normal conditions too.
I hope he gave you metro for nothing less than Entamoeba Histolytica or pseudomembranous colitis, not for an ordinary entrovirus like all that are spreading on this season time.
I also hope he gave you some B vitamines too. Killing the most of your innocent and vitamine-providing intestinal microbes, and withdrawing you from beer (an excellent source for B vitamines) would be a slightly nasty joke.

Arrgh! Double negative...
You noticed it just 3 minutes after your first post.
The 'Edit' button makes miracles in such occurrences.
I could not live without it, English not being my motherlanguage (as anyone can easily see).

But I was thinking that since this is the picture set Paneristi uses as a reference for the PAM 28, that it probably wouldn't be a recoated watch. But maybe it is.
I found these other genuine pics in the last two years while surfing the web:
-
The watches you mentionned have indeed most of my wristtime, including the 112
Great minds think alike
We're all watchlovers before being rep lovers, aren't we ?No doubt

I would add the PAM111, despite many flaws
Eh, I may guess what you mean...
But even if I am a PAM fan I can appreciate the best of other brands, and you exactly picked up what I find gorgeous models.
(BTW: what many flaws?!?
Unless you really think of it as a 111 rather a 112. In this case, yes, there are some flaws...
)

You have an awesome and very original collection, Pix, congrats!
The VC Overseas, the PP, the Kalashnikov, and the Steelfish are particularly appealing to me.
Also great skill in taking Pix!

You (and your friend) do lick the crystal, chief?!?

You might also want to consider a 42mm Radiomir.
Edit:
Oh, well, I see you already went for a 44mm.
Then you might want to consider it for your next purchase (once you start with PAMs there is no end...
)

Here's a newbie question:
I just purchased from Paul a Pannie whose dimensions are listed as 44mm/12mm.
But when I searched eBay, all they had were straps listed for 24mm (but they looked ample enough to be for 44mm). Is this 2x12mm=24mm?
12mm is the watch thickness!
24mm straps fit perfectly on 44mm PAMs.
...
And to be picky, I personally prefer to use the word 'Pannie' to mean a Panerai fan, rather than as a synonim for PAM. Similarly as for 'Trekkie' for a Star Trek fan.
But I recognize that many people use it the way you did.

sssurfer, the gen pics are straight off Paneristi's reference section.
I do not question it is a gen watch in a gen forum, I question it is PVD.

Nothing to do with porn.....it's to do with all the bampots...... ( yeah you know who you are )..... that e-mailed me asking if the Breitling rubber straps I posted for sale were GENYOOINE.......if they were genuine I'd be posting them on the Breitling forum at Timezone or on the Bay.....and I wouldn't be asking $45.00 with FREE f****ng shipping.....which is why I posted REPLICA Breitling straps ..on a bloody REPLICA forum......DUUUUUHHHHH....!
Well, it might be taken as a compliment... rep straps thought (or wondered, at least) to be genuine... not bad after all...
(...and... yes... I lean to mimic the punctuation style of what I quoted...

Save your money and just dye that white stitching with a Letraset ProMarker 'gold' magic marker.
Excellent result guaranteed. Have a look at my rose gold 147 here.

but just too dull (oops matte)
Well I suppose it was just my poor English

duplicate post, sorry

That's an old story. Already pointed out back in November 2006:

(old link not working either, as well)

Awesome project, chieftang, and definitely a welcome one!
The look of your beadblasted 111 seems good to me.
As others pointed out, it is just a first step to a perfect PVD watch. But it is a critical step and I think you made it good.
Obviously, the bead blasting affects "just" the texture of the final look, while the PVD coating affects "just" the color. And they both need to be the best possible in order to get to a perfect look.
To me, DSN's PVD is very good in color, but sort of dull in texture. Too gross beadblasting I would tell.
BTW, that gen 028 relly seems a little too light to me. I am aware that my palp's PVD is a little too dark, but that 028 seems completely out of tone. It actually looks more like a DLC coating. Are you sure it was not DLC re-coated?
Anyway, I collected several PVD pics from the net and I already could verify that even the very lighting greatly affects how PVD looks in the end.
Thanks for this project, keep us updated!
(and I too am waiting for your pics, Delta

Hey SSSurfer ...
Thanks for the reply lanikai.
I agree with everyone: this would be a very entertaining scenario should it become true.
Let's wait and see.

C'mon, put that cover out! Let we have a look at the real thing!
The Purdey cover, I mean naturally.

It looks like the crowns that Homer was offering some months ago.
Decent, but nothing special. Wrong teeth number.
Rep or Gen?
in The Panerai Area
Posted
I agree this is a gen.
Else, this is the best rep ever made.
Just interesting to notice that, while the 171 goes from F series (2003) onwards, it does note make its appearance on OP catalogues until 2004...![](https://rwg.cc/datastore/emoticons/emoticons/default_blink.png)
