  1. Took off my Doxa for a new colour strap on my DSSD
  2. sorry ma bad.. the genuine is on the left.. (watching the NBA playoff and trying to type this.. ) I'll edit it.. thanks M..
  3. After much frustration and venting ...... it seems that the project to finally take care of the dial issue is underway .. The maker decided to go with the smaller non beveled date window due to costs. on the V3 and V4 I am told the genuine dial (on the(Edit).. left) is manufactured in 2 pieces then fused together .. I'm not altogether clear on the reason .. it has something to do with the wider date window .. (something is lost in the translation to me) I am also informed that the correct dial is underway .. and will be made in 2 pieces and fused .. same procedure as the genuine.. it all came down to the cost of a 2 piece fused dial Now.. I'm not asking anyone to believe me ... because the proof will be in the final product.. I trust that this info is accurate. so we shall see.. it really makes sense that the cost of the replication came into play .. it is such a glaring flaw when the maker had the genuine available.. the genuine dial for sample is on the left.. the rep V4 is on the right.. I had to brighten and increase the contrast to be able to see the detail of the date window.. doing this has distorted the colour a little.. I decided to post this.. as I was torn between posting and not posting this info.. as I am aware that I am sticking my neck out with this.. so take it for what it's worth to you.. I am not trying to "promise" anything as I am just passing on info.. the proof as I say will be in the final dial.. I am not trying to stir up a rousing debate over dealers and makers either .. so please keep your comments under control Hopefully the maker will come through ~ Aloha~Cheers Lani
  4. AAIIIEEEEE..... ... there are lots of Doxa's on the bay.... I'm "watching" two for now..
  5. Got my Sword hands for the 5517.. and Bill made me the second hand for my 1655 .. good stuff..
  6. this happened to a Sub.. when the humidity was so thick one morning and I stepped into my van with the AC blowing .. Max .. condensation happened almost immediately.. All I did was to get "damp rid" pellets from the hardware store.. open the crown to the winding position .. put a liitle shot glass full of damp rid pellets in a cigar box and put the watch in it overnight .. next day.. the damp rid pellets extracted the moisture.. end of story..

  11. ETA 2894-2 Produced by ETA (Swatch Group) since 1996 automatic modular construction with ETA 2892 base movement and chronograph plate, 28,800 bph, 28 mm diameter, 6.1 mm height, 37 jewels, 47 h power-reserve, lever/cam design very common, often used in mid-priced models with a Tricompax (3,6,9) helper-dial outlay, due to the modular construction, crown and pushers are not on the same line Examples of watches that use this movement: Omega automatic Speedmasters with helper dials at 3,6 and 9. Chopard Mille Miglia chrono, Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronograph, Hublot Navy, Girard Perregaux "Pour Ferrari"
  12. There is nothing like the anticipation of your first rep !!!! pen erasers take out minor scratches from "brushed" ss surfaces.. watchboys sells refinishing pens.. made of fiberglass bristles again for ss brushed finishes.. so does ofrei ... aluminum rim metal polish can keep the polished surfaces looking new.. but be careful not to get any on the Ar'd xtal.. solvents will strip the anti reflective coating off.. just water and a soft cloth for the crystal.. I use a dry soft toothbrush to clean the case back and bracelet to get rid of the dead skin cells.. but the most important ... . . . . enjoy your watch.. . . . Live Strong and Wear it Well !! Aloha~Cheers Lani
  13. Beauty csk !!!! thanks for posting.. @asimplef yez sir.. the orange dial and the case are awesome on all the doxa's .. but the lung... sheesh... ....mmmmmmm .. 300T with the black lung someday..
  14. No... that above .... is Magnificent !!!! Maha~lo ..... Nanuq.. thanks for the lead Now to go to the doxa forum .. I hope they have a sense of Humor
  15. what will dirty the case back and bracelet more than anything is.... dead skin cells.. the grunge.. (especially during simmer months) is actually dead skin cells and not so much dirt.. ergo I use a soft bristle tooth brush almost daily on the links and case back.. 3 in 1 multi purpose oil for the links.. and aluminium metal polish and again.. a toothbrush.. for the bracelet.... the toothbrush gets the little cracks that the polish adheres to.. simple and it works for me
  16. the 300T CONQUISTADOR In 1969, Doxa introduced the first diver watch equipped with a Helium Release Valve (HRV) that was available to the general public. It was called the "DOXA SUB 300T Conquistador". The HRV is believed to have been co-developed by Doxa and Rolex, for which Rolex submitted patent number CH-A-492 246 on 6th November 1967. Although Rolex fitted Submariners (model 5513 - non date) with prototypes of this escape valve, which COMEX divers used successfully for 2 years, they didn't actually begin to build the Helium Release Valve into their retail dive watches until 1971. This was when they produced the HRV equipped Sea-Dweller, almost 2 years after Doxa had released the Conquistador. More information about the development of the Conquistador and the Doxa SUB in general can be found in an interview with the chief designer, Mr. Urs Eschle. the full interview.. http://www.doxa300t.com/interview/interview.htm ....
  17. I was always taken by the Doxa Subs.. well, really only as a huge die hard fan of Clive Cussler and his adventure novels featuring his character : Dirk Pitt, the Doxa being the official watch of NUMA .. for those of you who have read Dr. Cussler's books or marvelled at his vintage collection of classic autos you will know what I mean.. Read about the History and Clive Cussler ~ I've read each and every one of his novels.. thoroughly enjoyed each one !! http://www.doxawatches.com/clive_cussler.htm But after seeing Doxa here on RWG .... I had to have one.. and a member here guided me to one... although in Tennessee and advertised as .. "Local cash sale only"... but after communicating with the seller.. which turned out to be my pleasure.. the 600T-graph landed in Hawaii last week.. Roll call !! post your Doxa thanks for viewing Aloha~Cheers Lani
  18. To much knowledge is not always a good thing.. especially on Sunday .. when it's veg. with DVD's and a good stick... and whatever I care to indulge in as far as deserts day

  21. You ever feel like something is missing even when things are as they should be ???? This is the feeling I get when a veteran member is absent with leave for a longer period .. for whateva reason.. be it professional duties... family ~ new born .. or just taking a break.. And yesterday it seemed surreal to see the wrist checks ..... the signature "art" that only this member can create.. Welcome Home Pugs .. we've all missed Ya !!! and We've missed your photo's ... like these that you posted yesterday !!! and whom else would use vocabulary like "embiggen" Good to have ya back Home ma man.. and get busy with your camera.... this place has not been the same without you !! Aloha~Cheers Lani
  22. Life and sports.. a microcosim of each other.. a game of inches or mm's ... Talking about ZERO.. I have yet to see a cricket game being played iin Hawaii and Golf is the ultimate "Gentlemens" Sport... IMO
  23. Just the "Point" ..... it's what we are socialized with .. America being born out of Independence has bred it's own game of football, baseball, basketball, .. and it is what we have grown up playing and loving.. as the rest of the World enjoys futbol .. (the original version if you feel the need to call it that) .. or cricket .. or lacrosse .. or highli (sic) .. Especially in these economic times ... it is a great way to "hope" .. rally... and experience victory.. or learn through defeat... either way you look at it ... it all comes down to "Passion" ... dedication ... determination .. and the Desire to win.. this seems to be the same in any language or culture,.. no language barriers here... L
  24. It's a Doxa Weekend ~
