if you think about the dynamics of a circle as long as you turn the circle the horizontal lines will end up even.. given you don't really mess up .. I thought of masking "before putting it on .. try and vision what i stated about the adhesive.. you have time to work with it.. it is not super glue.. it "bonds" with UV light .. so as long as you are not working in sunlight .. you have time to move it a little.. like hanging a picture.. edit to add: or you could use a single edge razor blade to clean up any residue.. have you ever seen mags that look a little tilted left or right.. all you have to do is reset the crystal ..not the mag.. in other words turn the crystal clockise or counter clockwise... you are inevitably going to use acetone to clean it up a little.. nail polish remover is all it is.. and I've used it to clean up whist swapping bezel inserts.. that's what Q-tips are for... gotta learn .. and if it takes mistakes to learn .. then that's why I say "practice" ... dry run before I get the AR'd mag ...

where are you going to get it... and it may not fit.. this is much easier and your assured of the proper fit to the rep case.. I'm sure we can get a step by step on ... how to.. before Chiefs next run... the saving grace is the adhesive .. it does not bond the 2 units (mag to crystal) until exposed to UV light.. so my concern was .. man you have to be spot on in applying the mag back to the crystal ... but not so.. Kudos to Chief .. at first everyone said .. ahhh I can live with the lack of AR on the mag that the genuine has... didn't take long huh edit to add ... going to remove the mag from a couple of subs today.. bought a small scoop with the mash wire and handle.. I'll put the crystal in it then put it over a tea kettle whist the stem is whistling from the spout.. (steam is really hot) so if and when the mags slides of the crystal it will be all good in the hood .... so to speak ... it will already be in the mesh scoop.. then I'll order the adhesive .. hopefully from Ofrei.. then practice ... gotta do a test run or 2 .. We're on the same page then T.. I'm going to remove one from a sub that has too many flaws.. bought 2 years ago but the mag is spot on.. I saw on the bay a while ago genuine mags... lets network... if anyone sees these.. they were being sold in bunches.. and they are genuine ....pick them up and I'll do the same if I come across them then we can split them amongst ourselves..

You need to remove the crystal .. and heat the mag ... melting the glue.. UBI say's he uses needle nose pliers to hold the crystal.. (ones with smooth needles).. and holds it over the heating element on his stove... and you can see the glue melt and then the rest should be common sense I think.. I think I will try mine with steam as I have an electric stove.. I have a mini torch for my cigars but that is kind of intense and I think I can control the heat to the crystal better with steam.... I think I'll get one of those little screen baskets with handle and put the crystal in that so if the mag slides off it will be safely in the colander..

thanks CT... i'll get some ordered so I can "practice" .. shoot .. with the ozone the way it is .. i think Hawaii may have plenty of UV.. I'll try natural sunlight first.. that's cool then you have time to play with sjusting the mag before putting it to UV to bond.. cool

Hey Froggy !! Bruddah IZ's passing was a great loss... he is the only non political / government figure that was allowed to Lie In State at the capital Rotunda.... I remember going to see the original "Makaha sons of Niihau" at the old M's Ranch House.. his brother Skippy .. same size and he made unreal music... Skippy past long before Bruddah IZ.... btw.. the average house in Hawaii not kapalua or Lahaina starts at 1 mil. .. the area's you want .. sheesh...put it this way Lanikai beachfront goes for 7 mil. .. some estates on the beach in Kailua... 23 mil on up.. we can dream... Wow.. married here.. we take for granted what people dream about.. time to reevaluate ... I am blessed and grateful to live here.. even though the cost of living is one of the highest ....

Great news from the House of AR.. Chief say's he can do the GMTII Ceramic Mag AR.. with his "next" AR run Now the challenge for me is not taking off the mag.. but what adhesive to use putting it back.. problems with bubbles (if that is an issue) do you need to reheat it after applying the mag back on ?? in other words anyone other than Ziggy know how to reinstall the mag ?? Ubi.. explained briefly how to take it off.. not a huge concern.. it's getting it back on.. so I would like to "practice with some other crystal .. any thoughts???? Chief... U DA MAN !!!!

don't know about tightening it.. but on the other thread in Watch repair and upgrade.. i just lubed the bearings in the rotor and that silenced it.. it feels like the A7750 counter weight is not as balanced as the Swiss version.. feels a little "top heavy" compared to the swiss..

I was a bit confused at this as when I bought from Andrew he was very comical and never rude.. ever.. when he joked it was to the point of directing me to a ebay case set that was actually fake and selling for over 1k, I thought he was telling me to go buy that one.. .. so I can see if you take this seriously then .. it could bow up into a very nasty situation.. for a minute I really thought he was serious and condesending.. but it turned out he was "joking".. he ended with asking me for some coconut's .. so with all the multi cultures here I can see where humor can be misunderstood... we in Hawaii have jokes for every ethnic culture "that is from here".. that is the difference that people would not understand.. ie. I would not go to China and make the same jokes that I would make to my Chinese buddy here.. I may not return.. Glad everything worked out..

what poki "mix" are you referring to? .. alls you need is hawaiin sea salt.. chili peppers.. kukui nut .. if you like that.. otherwise just the hawaiin sea salt.. and peppers.. oh... sea weed ,.. don't forget the Ahi (cubed)... mmmmmm with a cold brew on a hot day.....non alcoholic for me please.. I dun know the Y back t-top may not suit you .. if you know what i mean

So I guess it's problematic with the Mod kit in both versions .. possibly the mod kit needs to be modded .. or live with it... @jmt.. sent chief a pm re. mag....

Thanks R.. since you are adept at removing dials.. .. the next task I would like to attempt is swapping dials.. now the hand remover looks relatively challenging .. with not a whole lot of difficulty.. but what tool is best for installing them and is there a position to do both..ie. @12 ... I'd like to try this on a couple of asian movements first.. I have Nd dials coming in and would like to have the freedom to swap them myself.. Thank you in advance...

Just checked Joshua's site this has single Ar and it say's "front".. if it is on the outside of the glass.. you cannot use any buffer or polish.. it will remove the ar coat.. hard to imagione it is scratched if you cannot remember doing so.. try taking your finger nail and seeing if it is some paint from some surface that left the mark.. often times what appears to be a scratch is a mark left from some painted surface.. the Dremel is a trademark name.. dremel is dremel... it does come in handy for buffing the polished case also.. and the sanding wheels for various projects.. Good luck.. btw DSN does sell the sapphire seperately .. he's on the collectors section.. just email him... he sometimes takes a day or two to respond but he will Aloha~Cheers Lani

You should consider investing in a dremel tool.. it's about 35 usd at the hardware store.. comes with all the attachments and red rouge.. I use aluminium mag polish and a dremel with the small buffing wheel.. it's more economical to buy a dremel that another mineral glass. and you will certainly use it if you continue this hobby for case's, bracelets.. etc. .. it is essential if you want to keep the reps looking good when you get one pm me or post up and we'll walk you through it... easy ..

I will give taking all hands to the 12 first before I take it around 48 ... this makes actually more sense to synchronize the hands.. thanks ten.

I have a mineral crystal on my fiddy .. the one that is my beater in the early morning.. it goes through the gaunlet every morning.. I have buffed out numerous scratches with a dremel and by hand .. using metal polish and a buffing wheel.. actually it takes a lot to scratch even mineral glass .. I've scrapped it against concrete walls withut serious damage.. it will buff out easily ...

My Collector has stated that a handful of these came back to him for repair... I really don't play with the jumping hour hand.. but once in a while when I lay it down for say 6 hours or so I come back and the watch is running but it seems the hour hand does not move along with the minute hand..this has happened a few times.. I have taken it 24 to 48 hrs. manual revolution .. very very slowly and this has corrected the problem... tried this before BT posted his thread... seemed like common sense that the mod was not disengaging .. Joshua told me to do the same thing after the fact.. but I had planned to send it to Rob anyway just for preventive measures.. I want to get it fully serviced and have him adjust the mods if need be.. It will leave for Canada in the next week or so... So with that being said I will pass on any pertinant info once Rob has a go at it.... He is alway's thorough with his explanation of any problems and solutions..
